12.01.2022 There are two options here. Either we can chuck this into landfill because it doesn’t fulfill the supermarket standards of an acceptable beetroot (but who set those standards anyway? it feels like they are stuck in the 90s). The other option is to grow healthy and delicious food AND provide it for people to eat, sustainably. Fortunately our customers agree that better flavour beets looks any day and so the fate of this yellow beauty was to be thoroughly enjoyed as part ...of our veggie box this week. The veggie box this week included: fabulous yellow beets, basil, cucumber, zucchini, onions, garlic, salad, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, chives, turnips or radishes. #bethechange #eatthebeet #beetroot #yellowbeet #sustainable

10.01.2022 They’re just so weird and wonderful these ice plants. Little bubbles of salt water all over their stems and leaves really sets them apart from other plants. #iceplant #garnishes #sydneychef #sydney #delicious #makeitdelicious

10.01.2022 So many orange and pink flowers this week! The Marigold and dianthus are going nuts and the ranunculus have just started blooming. Chocolate Mint in the last photo. I made a choc cake for Georgia’s sixth birthday and it didn’t look anything like a kids cake (more granny style actually ) BUT I realised I really love using the green foliage’s on cakes. In this case snow pea sprigs and choc mint. I also used the three first ever ranunculus at the farm and heaps of pink and whi...te snow pea flowers and a couple of large carrot flowers. What do you think about the green? Worth offering as a separate option? #edibleflowers #garnishes #orange #sydneycakes #chocolatemint #grownnotflown #local #fresh

06.01.2022 Just in time for the heat. We installed a side window on the tunnel yesterday. When I say just in time it means we should’ve done it a couple of months ago as we were getting steamed like two beans installing that thing in the roof of the tunnel yesterday but boy is it a relief to have more ventilation and felt pretty chuffed afterwards. Thanks to @little_hill_farm for helping out with the welding #resilience #heatwave #farming #marketgarden #farmlife

06.01.2022 This week’s box: Romanesco or broccoli, mint, wombok, kale, sweet potato, baby spinach, salad, snow peas, beans, thyme and onions. In the late winter/early spring hunger gap we add a few extra certified organic items to our boxes. It provides our customers with the best bridge between locally/seasonal and supporting your own farmer whilst eating organically. It’s the second year where we have been providing winter veggie boxes (before we used to shut down for three months) and we feel this it the best mix #veggiebox #harvest #hungergap #supportlocal #winterveggies

04.01.2022 Stocktake and pruning in the tunnel this morning before the heat hit. Tomato season is about to hit us in a big way this year. I’ll be up early to do some more pruning...despite that big pile of leaves (pic in comment) there’s actually more to come off the plants to increase air flow. The black galaxy tomatoes (spot the stars...) are coming along nicely. #tomatoes #abundance #seasonal #delicious #knowyourfarmer #gardening #garden #marketgarden

02.01.2022 Zucchini’s and cucumbers are back in season I can eat so many of these beauties! Also, what do we think about using brown paper produce bags for cherry tomatoes? We realized we had run out and as usual that sparked the debate about PET vs PLA plastics and how we feel that neither one is a good choice. Maybe we’ll just stick to bags. The rest of the box this week consists of fennel, the very last caulis this season, potatoes, tomatoes, oregano, beetroots, salad, spring onion, carrots, the aforementioned cucumbers and zucchini’s and pumpkin. Hope you are all enjoying your veggies #veggiebox #knowyourfarmer #local #seasonal #csaausnz #freshproduce
