21.01.2022 HOLMES À COURT GALLERY @ NO.10 - OPEN HOUSE PERTH 16-17 November . Formally Berryman car sales, the space is a double volume factory/warehouse refurbished to become an art gallery, art storage and curatorial facilities. It is a huge gaping space with a corrugated iron saw tooth and clerestory roof letting in streams of light through the banks of windows. The floor is an unsealed and unpainted concrete floor, painted brickwork walls and exposed painted steel trusses. Some of the walls have been converted into white gallery walls housing art from the extensive Janet Holmes à Court Collection as well as art work from local artists. @ West Perth, Western Australia

12.01.2022 The after photo The design is a playful abstract geometric artwork that connects triangles together to make a pattern that responds to the architectural feature of the saw tooth roof distinctive to buildings within the district. It works well within the semi-industrial neighborhood by referencing its aesthetic yet at the same time it adds life and colour to the street scape. It is immediate, fun and accessible. 08.01.2022 HMS Endeavour successfully made the Journey from Freo to West end Arts precinct. A full scale true to craft and form replica ( slice )of the original ship. Built by John Longley and friends in the 80s in Freo where she has been residing for 30 years. After 2 years of negotiations Art Co Obscure View secured possession and are looking forward to finding a permanent home for this wonderful piece of maritime history.

04.01.2022 STALA CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY @ OPEN HOUSE 16-17 NOVEMBER . . STALA CONTEMPORARY is a recently re-opened commercial art gallery (previously emerge ART SPACE 2006-16) located at 12 Cleaver Street in the burgeoning artistic community now known as The Pickle District in West Perth. It is housed in one of the many hidden industrial warehouse spaces in the area that are increasingly being re-purposed as eclectic spaces for small business and creative projects.... Formerly a commercial glazier warehouse, the gallerys old timber trussed roof and high ceilings, white painted brickwork walls, roller door and sealed concrete floor proudly displaying the cracks and paint splatters of its industrial past make it an unique contemporary art gallery. Local artist Jarrad Martyn (winner of the prestigious John Stringer Art Prize 2018) was commissioned in 2019 to create a whole facade eclectic figurative mural to activate the streetscape and engage the community. The resulting exterior mural incorporates his recurring motifs of classical art history juxtaposed against global issues such as climate change and the environment. Gallery Director Sherri Staltari champions home-grown WA contemporary and Australian artists. STALA CONTEMPORARY proudly features Artist-in-Residence Sue Leeming who creates original artworks on site. Sue Leeming joins artists Britt Mikkelsen and Dr Matthew Jackson in lively conversation. . SUNDAY 17 NOVEMBER 2PM TO 4PM to discuss their new exhibitions. (Their exhibitions SYNCHRONICITIES and A Party Hat for St. Denis open Wed 16 November 6 8pm, all welcome).
