02.06.2022 The Bruery- Love Bites- Bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout with Strawberries and Cacao nibs. (California, USA) 473ml - ABV 10.9% - $29 per can Love bites is a full bodied imperial stout. It’s really quite strawberry forward, and finishes with a bitter dark chocolate. Although this is definitely a dessert beer, it has enough roasted malts in it to cut through the sweetness and balance it out. Love bites has a silky smooth and velvety mouthfeel making it a little decadent. If y...ou are partial to a pastry stout, this one won’t disappoint. Rating 7.5/10 The Bruery- White chocolate Bourbon barrel-aged wheat-wine ale with cacao nibs and vanilla bean. (California, USA) 475ml - 14% ABV - $31.50 per can. The Bruery White Chocolate is just like a caramel latte, only crunchy. It packs some really bold vanilla, caramel and honey flavours in there and is quite rich. White Chocolate is quite a sweet beer and I think it is meant to be, to counter the high ABV. It has a similar mouthfeel to a nitro in its smooth and creamy texture, perhaps (I’m guessing) the addition of lactose is what makes it this way. Personally, I don’t like this one as much as the Love Bites as I found it a bit sickly sweet at the end of the pint. But I did enjoy it. Rating: 6/10

28.05.2022 We’re big fans of Red Hill Brewery’s ‘No Through Road’ West Coast IPA. A refreshing and flavoursome drop, this brew goes down a treat during cooler weather 7% ABV @redhillbrewery @ Red Hill Brewery

06.05.2022 Aether Nitro Bee Sting - Nitro Cream Ale (Qld) $7.50 per can. Aether have done it again with this deliciously decadent little number. It has the nose of honey, almonds and vanilla, and the flavour is reminiscent of a freshly baked beesting from the local bakery. It has a really smooth and creamy mouthfeel which leaves you wanting more. This beer is a limited run and has been hugely popular, so if you are lucky enough to come across a can or two. Grab it with both paws while you can, I know I will be!

25.04.2022 A Tassie treasure. Moo Brew’s American-Style Pale Ale is understated and reliable. A fantastic beer you can keep coming back to. 4.9% ABV and 1.5 standard drinks @moobrewbrewery

20.04.2022 Aether Brewing - Velour Fog Red Velvet Nitro Milk Chocolate Stout. (Qld) 5.0% ABV - $6.99 per can. ... Aether brewing in collaboration with Brisbane based patisserie Flour & Chocolate have created this sensational red velvet nitro milk chocolate stout. ‘Velour Fog’ has a super creamy mouthfeel, which is typical of most nitro beers, paired with sweet ‘cakey’ flavours of vanilla, rich chocolate and fresh raspberries. It is a sweet stout, but it’s not sickly, making it really easy to drink. If you are a dark beer fan like myself and you stumble across ‘Velour Fog’ I highly recommend giving it a try. It is so worth it. Rating: 8.5/10

25.01.2022 A Vino Special: Picked up this little number on my outing this morning, as recently drive through the Coonawarra district on a return journey from Adelaide. Balnaves of Coonawarra combine 25 years of wine making to bring you '2017 - The Blend'.... Medium-full and deep red, this blend combines: - 68% Merlot; - 30% Cabernet Sauvignon; - 2% Petit Verdot. Independent tasting notes: Rich berry and a hint of spices & Vanilla as an note, this wine has rich flavours and is heavy on the nose. Rating: Heavier than this reviewer is used to - however still a solid 7/10. Price: Retails for $19, however this prolatarian forked out $22 for the previlige of being able to purchase from a socially conscious independent bottle shop.

10.01.2022 This personal favourite brings back some solid Suffolk summer sunset beer garden nostalgia. With ruby red tones and rich fruity flavours, this East-Anglian taproom favourite is brewed to commemorate the British and Dutch naval Battle of Sole Bay fought off the Suffolk coast in 1672 At 6.3% ABV this pint sized brew is perfect for celebrating the lack of naval battle in the North Sea in 2020 ... Peace out legends @ Adnams

09.01.2022 Dainton Beer - ‘Bounty Hunter’ toasted coconut milk chocolate stout. (Vic) ABV 7.3% Bounty Hunter is a rich, creamy, and full bodied stout. It has a slightly thick mouthfeel and not overly sweet, which makes this a good ‘wintery’ ale. The coconut flavours in this stout are really subtle and rather than being a sweet coconut it is more of a nutty toasted coconut flavour. Overall a decent tasting beer. Rating: 7/10... Price $8.50 per can ~ The Duchess of Dunkel.
