13.01.2022 Our Animal Bushfire Appeal is on tomorrow at Darwin Airport. Join us to help the rehabilitation of wildlife injured in the bushfires. We’re giving 100% of all funds direct to on-the-ground shelters in North East Victoria. We’ll be set up at Darwin Airport from 10.30am - 3.30pm outside News Travels upstairs (airside). ... Every $10 donation receives a free ‘Moments of Connection’ book. These were originally produced for animal rehabilitation projects for the 2009 Black Saturday fires. So come on Darwinians, it’s time to show the rest of Australia how generous the Top End is! Come visit us and spread the word to anyone travelling through the airport. And on behalf of the animals - thank you #australianwildliferecovery #australianwildliferelief #australianbushfires #australiaburning #darwinmums #darwinairport #territoryq

10.01.2022 We are facing the worst bushfires in our history. We are dealing with loss of life - human and animal. Loss of whole towns, of property, of millions of hectares of land. There is so much suffering and devastation. ... Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this disaster. As we did for Black Saturday in 2009, we'll be fundraising for animals in need from this bushfire crisis. It will be held on 27 January at Darwin Airport. More details will follow. Please note: All orders on our website from now until 27 January will be processed on 28 January. Thank you. For helping people, visit Red Cross Australia or the Salvation Army. 01.01.2022 We'll be getting back to Pipey Fairy stuff soon, but the publisher of the books (The Pipey Fairy & Moments of Connection) just wanted to thank all those people who donated to our Bushfire Wildlife Recovery fundraiser at Darwin Airport on Monday. We met people from Beechworth to the Gold Coast, from Perth to Sydney and even one incredible woman travelling Hobart-Melb-Darwin-Kununurra with two toddlers who still managed to stop and chat and donate. People are amazing and time...s like these we are so proud to be Australian. Even though many people donated before, they were willing to donate more. One guy, just came up and put in $50 and after thanking him, I asked if he'd like a book he said 'Nah mate, all good, got too much to carry!' (classic, so Australian we love it) so instead we gave his five books to others. We want to thank the teams at Darwin Airport https://www.facebook.com/Darwinairport/ and News Travels Darwin https://www.facebook.com/NewsTravelsStore for their incredible support. We raised $610.25 on the day but we're not done yet. My amazing hairdresser and friend Joe-Joe from Hair Oracle https://www.facebook.com/HairOracle/ is this week collecting donations for books, so pop in there for great hair and to support a great cause. And to the beautiful family and their daughter who entrusted us to send their postcard from Darwin to their grandma in NSW - it went into the postbox yesterday. Although post does take some time from Darwin, rest assured, it's on the way! Many people from further afield have asked me if they can join our fundraising and where to deposit funds. As the books are expensive to send, we are just doing a local fundraiser, but if you would like to donate to a similar cause, on-the-ground wildlife carers, one to support and help rebuild is the Wallabia Wildlife Shelter in East Gippsland. You can read all about Rena & Joe's ongoing commitment to wildlife and help them here https://chuffed.org/project/wallabia
