14.01.2022 A MESSAGE FROM BJP ABOUT CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 BJP considers it important that we all take sensible steps to look after ourselves, our families and each other. W...e want to protect our teachers, volunteers, members and families by minimizing exposure to COVID-19 and reducing the risk of spreading it, as much as we can. We are helping clubs to implement a management strategy for COVID-19. For more information talk to the head teacher or secretary of your club. Your club officials will follow all advice from government health and medical authorities and will introduce strategies about exclusion and hygiene procedures. Classes will continue and they will keep you in the loop with any updates. EXCLUSION Your club may, at its discretion, direct those affected or reasonably at risk of being affected by the pandemic to remain away from classes. This includes: * Anyone who has recently travelled/transited through countries considered to pose a risk of transmission of COVID-19. For an up-to-date list of countries go to www.health.gov.au * Anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. * Anyone who has been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with or is suspected of having COVID-19. * Anyone unwell or who has a cough/cold unless they have tested negative to COVID-19. After 14 days, people in the above categories can return to class (whether participants or spectators), provided they are symptom-free. If you feel unwell, stay at home, seek medical advice promptly and follow the directions of your local health authority. If you believe you are at risk of infection, obtain a diagnosis and, importantly, please inform your club. HYGIENE Please follow these procedures for everyone’s safety: Before entering class, clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or wash them with soap and water. Do this every time you go to the bathroom and every time before you eat. Do not share drink bottles or food. Maintain at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, or other people. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze and dispose of used tissues immediately. Use paper towel to turn off taps and touch handles and doorknobs in all public places. Note that face masks are not recommended for people without symptoms. MORE INFO Keep an eye out for updates from reliable sources such as the Australian Govt Dept of Health at https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea IN SUMMARY Protect yourself AND others: * Clean your hands regularly * Cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue * Most importantly stay at home if you’re feeling unwell
