24.01.2022 When one of my customers called needing urgent help and told me she has scissors and a million blades, I wasn’t quite sure what I’d find. Phew, only 23 I managed to slot those into my busy Monday so they can get back to work.

23.01.2022 Sorry all, due to my current workload and changes to restrictions in Victoria I will no longer be able to offer same day or while you wait services for sharpening and servicing for the time being. I do apologise to the customers that this will affect but I will get your items done as soon as possible once dropped off. I am also now only offering contactless drop offs and pick ups, or postal services to my home address. Social distancing friendly pick ups will be available still to Geelong businesses. 22.01.2022 A shout out to my country based customers, though I don’t get to see you in person I love being able to help you out. In today’s jobs was a bunch of blades from Scruff Muttz in Horsham. They’ll be heading back home first thing tomorrow.

21.01.2022 Your blades tell me a lot of things once pulled apart. Heres a before and after for example. See the copper shades on the rails? Thats burnt dander. Dander in the hair will burn if your blades get too hot while in use. To help prevent this the answer is simple - oil! Oil your blades using clipper blade oil, never any substitutes such as cooking oil as this will actually gum the blades up and stick them together. Swap your blades out and allow them to cool down. Doing these simple things will extend the life of your blades. Other things I can see in the before photo are uneven wear which alerts me to check the spring, and also who has sharpened this blade in the past. (Did you know some sharpeners leave a mark in your blades? Well some do!) This blade is back and ready to work again. Hopefully with more frequent oil this time.

18.01.2022 Ive been kept very busy by you guys. Lots of clippers in for servicing and repairs. Heres a reason why regular servicing is important. Your blades are only part of the equation in ensuring a good finish, your clippers and the cleanliness of the hair youre cutting is also very important. The blade drive on the left was so worn it was barely pushing the cutter, and made the clippers appear to have a loud rattle. If youd like your clippers serviced drop me a line.

18.01.2022 I have been receiving a lot of questions about whether I am still working at the moment. Its a crazy time and theres lots of confusion over what is and isnt still operating but yes, I am still working. I live outside of lockdown areas and am accepting items in person from anyone in regional Vic, or via post from the lockdown areas of Vic and my interstate customers. Business customers I am still doing social distancing friendly pick ups, contact me to see when I might be i...n your area. As I work solo and care about the health of all of you out there, should I feel unwell I will be suspending my work and getting tested. If this happens I will let you all know. In return I ask that if you are feeling unwell at all that you delay dropping items off or picking them up until you are feeling better. I am still maintaining all cleaning processes and all of your items are wiped down with an alcohol based cleaner prior to being returned. Together we can get through this

17.01.2022 Horse clipping season is in full swing. The Pointy End customer Rebecca sent these photos in of her results using the cordless Heiniger Saphir and a T-84 blade. Rebecca isnt a professional, and the saddled horse had never been clipped before. Both horses are owned by Rebecca. Great finish! Using quality tools helps provide quality results.

15.01.2022 Just a heads-up in case youre sending or needing to receive items in a hurry, Australia Post are no doubt being inundated at the moment and this has had a flow on effect on delivery. I have had a couple of parcels take up to two weeks to arrive to their destinations, while others have arrived in a couple of days so it seems to be hit and miss. This has also slowed down parts orders I have had to get in for clipper repairs. Please keep this in mind if you are posting or purchasing items and need them quickly. Thanks! - Felicity

15.01.2022 COVID-19 and changing restrictions update. The Pointy End will remain open, employing all usual cleaning and sanitising processes in order to keep as safe as possible. Given that metropolitan areas of Melbourne will be entering stage 3 restrictions this will mean that all items from these areas will have to be posted in. For all regional Vic residents post in or drop off/pick up from my secure lockers which are cleaned after each use is the preferred option. Local Geelong business pick ups will still be an option with all social distancing measures being adhered to. If you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask. Thanks! - Felicity

11.01.2022 Hairdressing scissors in today. They came in folding hair from half way down the blade and went home cutting perfectly all the way to the tips. 11.01.2022 What lurks inside your clippers? This clipper looked almost new on the outside, but inside was a completely different story Don’t risk equipment failure, regular servicing is cheap insurance. Scheduling depends on usage but anywhere from every three months for commercially used clippers to annually for home use is about what they need. Test and tag also available on clippers if required.

Presenters from France, Spain, the USA and Japan covered a wide range of interesting topics including a rare opportunity to (virtually) tour a Japanese scissor manufacturing operation. Thank you IBSA for hosting this event. Learning and development is an important part of being able to offer great service.

08.01.2022 In for some love, the after pics should look significantly different. These clippers have their own beard! Keep your clippers in peak condition by servicing them regularly. Just like a car they need clean filters and fresh grease from time to time.

01.01.2022 Remember to routinely check between the teeth of your thinners/texturisers and clipper blade teeth. Obstructions like this can be difficult to see (this is magnified so you can see it easily) but will affect the way your tool cuts. All better now and ready to get back to work.

01.01.2022 Its always a pleasure working on well cared for tools. These lovely Oster clippers sadly came in in pieces, the damage inside was pretty serious. Ive now roped my husband in to dealing with large clipper repairs. He handled this challenge with ease, theyre back to running the way they should be.
