25.01.2022 Really happy with my first queens I raised in October. An experimental opportunity by working from home enabled me to be home when manipulations needed to be done. We see how they go during the season. Will put them to production straight away! #beekeeping #apiary #bees #queenbees

25.01.2022 I have a helper tonight to help me extract delicious and strong Eucalyptus Obliqua Honey. Commonly known as Messmate. The bees go hyper defensive on this stuff especially when s its finishing. Generally have to wear gloves for any mongrel genetics. Feeling like I am catching up with extracting. Another half dozen boxes to go.... then back to the hives for more raw honey. Feel free to drop into Burrumbeet and pick some up tomorrow or later this week. 24.01.2022 Hive box pallets come in handy when storing, moving and transporting boxes. Easy to knock up from offcuts. Saves honey spillage after harvesting honey and Keeps the bees out from robbing. Use it as a lid when u get short. Simply make a bottom board without the entrance. Just that simple. A nice winter activity.

22.01.2022 Plastic doesnt always works.... dont mix it with wax foundation, cover it with a minimum of 30grams of wax and you have a very good chance of success. Especially on a flow. I like red plastic as bees prefer it to black and I like red. Fast colour! Enjoy your season in the Northern Hemisphere. My bees are resting. 07.01.2022 Winter in the Little Desert looking pretty. Lots of sticky banksia cobs. Plenty of shrubs to pop. Was great to see Banksia regenerate after recent fuel reduction burn. Bees doing fine. Hives Not losing any weight. If anything they gained. Great place to hang out by the place.
