20.01.2022 Donation links to help Animals affected by bushfire season and drought! Sadly due to our societys broken system, virtually all of these organisations are volu...nteer-run and are not supported by government - so its up to us, the wider public, to help these amazing carers and rescuers do their jobs. I know this list might be a bit overwhelming, but one way you could approach it is going through the links and prioritising the ones which are struggling to meet funding targets. Remember, every bit counts! And the more widely we can share this, the more bits therell be to count. _____________________ Farmed Animal sanctuaries generally dont get the same level of public support as wildlife rescues, and there are several in need of help. Many are helping wildlife in need in addition to their existing residents, and most are facing difficulties sourcing hay and feed for their residents amidst heavy drought and the fire season. 18.01.2022 My first time in a radio station, thank you Christine Layton and Ruth Walker at ABC Radio for making it so easy. After putting the call out for medical supplies for our injured animals, the phones at ABC ran hot! Christine let me know afterwards that, during all of her time at the ABC, she has never had as many phone calls as she received in response to my segment....and my mobile and email has been inundated. Perth, you are amazing! Thank you! If you are a rescue organisation wanting to receive supplies, please head to https://rescuedpets.com.au/ to register and request supplies so we can get them to you as quickly as possible. #ABCradioperth #ARC #Perthisthebest

18.01.2022 A number of people have reached out to their contacts working in hospitals, medical centres, allied health organisations and nursing homes. 17.01.2022 This is the beautiful Antica (An-ti-sha) Melvin. Antica lives in a nursing home in West Perth and has spent many, many hours knitting and crocheting blankets and pouches for injured wildlife. I visited Antica over the weekend and took her beautiful items into the Porze / Curtin University drop-off hub where some of them have already been packed ready to send to wildlife carers.

16.01.2022 Hi All. I have created a separate page to keep posting about the animal medical supply hub. I'll send everyone an invite!

15.01.2022 Day 4 of the medical supply drop-off hub at Curtin University and I shed a few tears again today, not just for the animals, but also for the generosity of my colleagues and community. The drop off zone has been set up for people to easily access and each time I leave my desk and check-in on supplies (which is every 5 minutes ), more stuff has appeared. While I was sorting through everything and stacking it into curated piles, I did meet some of the beautiful people who ca...me to donate. Thank you to the Curtin School of Psychology and Amy at The London Clinic (who brought in a whole trolley full). Thank you also the the mother and daughter team (Im so sorry I didnt catch your names) who brought in baby food, bottles, puppy pads and a whole heap of other much needed supplies. The daughter saw the post on facebook and they raced over to contribute! To all the other people who snuck in when I wasnt looking - thank you so much! #curtinuniversity #animalrescuecollective

15.01.2022 Sailors for Sick Wildlife... A few weeks ago, Sylvia contacted me and asked if she could help the medical supply hub by calling out to the members of the Hillarys Yacht Club and asking them to check their first aid kits (every yacht has to have one) and donate old supplies. Today, Sylvia and her husband Nick dropped off 4 trolley loads of supplies!... Thank you so much Yachties!

14.01.2022 Our Animal Medical Supply Drop off Hub has moved to a new location - thanks Curtin University for finding us a space to house our mountains of supplies. Will post pictures tomorrow!

12.01.2022 The Hubs new digs! We have a dedicated space at Curtin University for the next 2 months so we can continue to reach out to carers and send them much needed supplies. It has a window and reverse cycle air conditioning ... all I need is a snack fridge and Ill never have to leave!

12.01.2022 A few people have asked if I am still making soaps and scrubs.....Yes! Absolutely. Im just also collecting and distributing medical supplies for injured and fire affected animals at the moment too!

12.01.2022 St Valentines Day is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration. Every year on 14 February people celebrate this day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends. Who are you going to love on today?

11.01.2022 Also, some of what I am collecting to will be distributed in WA while much is meant for SA / NSW. If anyone works for an airline or trucking/transport company, and is happy to help, Id love to hear from you - particularly if you have spare room to move supplies in the next week or so. At this stage, Im not sure how much that will be but I know how big-hearted WA people are and Im aiming high! Please share this post with all your friends / contacts so we can retrieve as much stock as possible before it gets thrown away or destroyed.

11.01.2022 Friday 17 January - Day 10 of the porze / Curtin University medical supply drop-off hub. I had many helpers this week undertaking stock take and the boxing up of supplies. This has become a daily activity now with so many donations flooding in. There have been many hugs and tears as people share their feelings on the utter devastation shredding the country. Many people who heard the ABC Radio interview last Saturday have navigated road blocks and the confusing University camp...us to bring in what they can. There are just too many to name but you know who you are and I am so appreciative of your help. A beautiful Mexican couple bought in bulk supplies paid for in part by their relatives in Mexico who can see what is happening over here and sent money specifically for them to buy animal supplies! Big thanks also to Melville Facebook Community who pooled their supplies at the local Real Estate agent and then brought them to us in bulk. Keep those supplies coming! We are particularly short of Soffban, Chlorhexadine, Solosite, Bepanthen, towels, sheets and blankets. We are helping as many WA based rescue organisations as we can find and Kangaroo Island in the first instance. ##animalrescuecollective #animalsaustralia #curtinuniversity #rescuedpets #proudtobecurtin

11.01.2022 We're going, hope to see you there!

11.01.2022 Wonderful people that rescue, those who care for them and those who made things and donated , this is lovely seeing it all in action.

10.01.2022 And, just like that, they were gone! Since we started the animal medical supply drop off hub 5 weeks ago, we have been madly liaising with transport companies, airlines, the Defence Force, grey nomads, you name it, to get our supplies to the people who desperately need them - the carers. When we had plans to send bulk supplies to Kangaroo Island, QANTAS came through for us, only for KI to tell us that they were inundated with supplies and no longer needed them. ... When we decidied to stick to WA carers, who themselves were struggling with local fires, we couldnt seem to make a breakthrough. A couple of lovely travelling individuals (Alan Armstrong) stepped up with offers, but were heading in different directions than we needed. Then, 2 big players joined the cause - Wesfarmers (Bunnings Warehouse Australia (Melbourne) and Australia Post. They have both offered to take whatever we need to whomever, wherever we need it, and whenever it needs to go. Thank you, thank you Alan Carter, Phil Sillifant, Chris Heelan, Glen Resuggan, Steve Schmoller and Michelle Matthews, Micheline Anderson and Vicki Thaxter - all the people up and down the line that worked with myself and Robyn to make this happen. Expect deliveries soon; Linda - 6R Wildlife Rescue, Margaret River, WA, Lynne at Esperance Roo Haven, Nicky Percival and PilRoc Retreat - Rescued & Injured Wildlife Orphanage & Rehab Centre.

08.01.2022 Order up! Darling Range Wildlife Shelter WA!

07.01.2022 So many people are donating much needed towels, sheets and blankets. Many of these are not priority items in other states, but are badly needed here in WA by all forms of rescue organisations - wildlife and pet. Our first load was sent out to Shenton Dogs Refuge who have received a number of post Xmas unwanted pets over the last couple of weeks. There are still plenty more to go out over the next few weeks so stay tuned!

06.01.2022 Well that was a nice surprise in the mail. A care package for the animals from Curtin University. They started collecting supplies to help in the fire areas and... ended up with so much stuff that there was leftovers to send out to local carers.DBCA supplied all the contact details for local carers which sped up the process no end. Awesome gesture guys and very much appreciated here at PilRoc. Big pat on the back for Australia Post too for delivering all this gear for free all over the country <3 See more

04.01.2022 The response to our supply drop-off hub at Curtin University has been amazing! Thank you to everyone who has emailed, messaged and rung me. Its Wednesday, day 3 of the hub, and we have already received over 4000 syringes, 1000+ gloves, 350 bandages, and much, much more. I am running the hub until the end of January, so please keep the supplies coming. Thank you on behalf of our animals.

04.01.2022 For those of you not on LinkedIn: I have set up an official drop-off hub at Curtin University (building 200b) for much needed supplies. We are collecting on behalf of the Animal Rescue Collective (ARC) ***********************************************************************... Do you work in the pharmaceutical or medical industry and have expired or excess stock? With the awful fires across Australia, over half a billion animals have already died and many more are injured. The rescuers are crying out for medical supplies and are looking for: Flamazine burn cream IV fluids including Haartmans, Baxter, Saline and Glucose IV giving sets Antiseptic, betadine, chlorhex etc Meloxicam or pain stop (animal friendly pain relief) Syringes of all sizes Vitamin E Oil Solosite gel Algasite Jelonet Burns dressings Bandages - crepe, gauze etc Non adhesive dressings / Adhesive dressings / Vetwrap Plaster of Paris Gloves Forceps and other implements Puppy Pads Biolac formulas Fruit baby food squeeze packs (preservative free brands) Animal feeding bottles & teats Lectade / hydrolyte / glucolyte oral hydration Vetafarm spark fluids Wombaroo impact Di-vetalact Vetafarm critta care Nutrigel Any vetafarm bird products Anything else that you think would be useful including pillow cases, blankets, pouches etc When working in clinical settings, lots of this stuff expires and goes to waste. . We may not be able to use it on humans but the wildlife carers would thank us for it! Just get it to me and Ill get it to them!

03.01.2022 A few more supplies were sent out to fantastic rescue organisations this week. Bluebush Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc. received some much needed medical items as did the WA Birds of Prey Centre. Check out this gorgeous bird, and the wedge-tailed eagle whos next to her! While I never forget why were doing this or the tragic circumstances that have led to me being in receipt of all of these supplies, I feel a little better knowing animals will be helped as a result. IF YOU ARE A WILDLIFE CARER IN WA or know of one who is doing it tough and needs supplies, please contact me so I can get you what you need.

01.01.2022 A circular economy aims to eliminate waste and the continual use of new resources. The traditional linear economy, has a take, make, dispose model of production. This is how we live today. Circular systems reuse, share, repair, refurbish, remanufacture and recycle to minimise the use of resources and the creation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions - waste from one process becomes food for another process. ... This is why we use spent coffee grounds in our soaps and scrubs instead of grinding our own from fresh beans - why add to the problem when you can work to actively reduce it? See more

01.01.2022 Monday 13 January - Day 6 of the Porze / Curtin University drop-off hub. I had some helpers today as we undertook a stock take and boxed up supplies. Thank you to Sara Brown for organising both the helpers and the packing boxes. We managed to get about halfway through and counted; - 5 litres of betadine/iodine... - 25 litres of IV fluids - 192 animal pouches - 779 bandages - 2427 sterile wipes - 2877 gauze pads - 3272 g of burn / antiseptic cream - 5273 adhesive dressings - 7628 gloves - 8494 needles - 8667 syringes These are now all boxed up and ready to send to where they are most needed. Thank you to all the wonderful people who came into 200B and dropped off supplies - there are too many to name but I did catch Ian and Jenny, Tim, Sarah Watanabe, and John Paul from the Chittering Wildlife Sanctuary who donated 162 animal pouches!
