25.01.2022 Shelf show case

25.01.2022 Yes, there is such thing as a perfect sized bowl and no, there is no shame in bringing it into the studio to make sure you make yours justttt right

25.01.2022 Firing time remember to book yourself in to glaze your work 2 weeks from when you come in (or 3 weeks if it was made on the wheel). If you have already glazed your work, and it's been 2 weeks please come and collect it this week as we are running out of space on our shelves!

25.01.2022 Wedging the clay is are tiresome but VERY worthwhile step in the wheel throwing process. The main purpose is to remove the air pockets from the clay which makes it pliable and easy to move - the biceps you get are just an added benefit

23.01.2022 Tomorrow is the last day of the year to collect your finished work! See you at 8:30am -12:30pm!

23.01.2022 Movember X The Pottery Studio Each year we donate all proceeds of sessions attended by men throughout November to the #Movember foundation and this year we will also be spreading the funds to the @grablifebytheballsmovement too! We’d love for you to get around the cause by bringing all the men in your life to the studio and/or tuning into our podcast (Stillness by The Pottery Studio) where we have some real chats with men about their relationship with mental health. The first episode with @that.guy.with.the.mo went live today.

23.01.2022 Our clay and wine sessions have been filling up so fast so we have added a couple of extra ones for the holidays! You can now join us at the studio on most Thursday night's in October too! https://thepotterystudio.com.au/product/clay-wine/

22.01.2022 all ready to get messy! @lex__field looked like she was in her element at today’s hand-building session

22.01.2022 Gents! Don't forget that any classes men attend in November will be donated to @movember and @grablifebytheballsmovement

22.01.2022 PSA! This is a Pottery Service Announcement : Our shelves are getting full, so if you haven't collected your glazed work yet, please come and visit us today or Wednesday. In a few weeks we will have to donate any work on our shelves made before October.

22.01.2022 Making a Mug [part 2] Continuing on from thinning out the top of the mug from part 1, Meg shows you how smooth out the clay and attach your handle!

21.01.2022 We've been organising our shelves! It's been a mission but so worth it! We're now keeping all glazed work next door in the cafe and keeping your unglazed work on this shelf, organised according to the weekend you made it. Keep in mind, we are now back to only holding your work for a maximum of 2 months from when you make it so remember to book your glazing in 2 weeks from when you make your work so we don't place it in the unclaimed section.

21.01.2022 Thought we'd share a piece of wisdom one of our members ((@lydiakabu) laughingly said when she was told that we were impressed with her pots... "I don't choose the pot, the pot chooses me" Feel free to take a page out of her book because by deciding to enjoy the process, move with the clay she is en route to get the most out of her experience.

16.01.2022 We wedge, we centre, and then we create.

12.01.2022 Jai & Rod have been busy bro-ing out with some genuine legends over the last week for our podcast! We are releasing a mini-series of vulnerable yet extremely relatable conversations with these legends (+more). This goes hand and hand with our annual Movemeber campaign, where we donate all sessions attended by men throughout November to the cause For more context about why we wanted to do this, it all comes back to our philosophy about finding stillness in the pottery pr...ocess. The notion of stillness is at the heart of everything we do at the studio because we believe it has a positive effect on our mental health. Each of these guys opened up about their experiences and man, they’re a good listen! The first episode is going live Monday morning so head to Spotify to follow the podcast now because we can’t wait for you to hear them. See more

11.01.2022 Due to popular demand... we've added a BRAND NEW wheel throwing classes to the calendar! Starting in a few weeks, we'll be teaching wheel throwing on Tuesday mornings.

11.01.2022 What are you looking at?

11.01.2022 Have you tried your hands at hand-building yet?

11.01.2022 Wheel throwing sessions are back and filling so quickly! For all of you who have already attended and loved throwing, we would like to draw your attention to our memberships... They give you 50% off all sessions and firing costs so is definitely worth signing up if you intend on coming back

11.01.2022 Remember if you made work in October you will need to collect it or glaze it before the 23rd December.

10.01.2022 Find stillness and feel peace

10.01.2022 When we strive we place our entire focus on the next thing, how to get there and what's going to happen when we arrive. This behaviour is usually commended and the opposite is labelled as lazy or unproductive. When in actual fact, not striving is far more difficult. Being still and sitting with 'what is' means you are being present. 'Striving' may transform peoples opinions of you or bring you closer to your material goals but true transformation takes place from within and can not be "achieved" in the same way.

10.01.2022 Wheel goodness

09.01.2022 Reminder! Our shelves are in need of a refresh, so any finished work made prior to November will be donated at Christmas time. If you've got anything to collect, we're open today from 8:30-12:30pm. Oh and we have coffee

09.01.2022 We will be welcoming Gaby back to the studio this weekend alongside all of our wheel throwing sessions. We have officially re-launched our memberships on our website for you to purchase for your choice of 1, 3 or 6 month terms. Our memberships have been created to make it easy for anyone who wants to throw more than once by giving all members 50% off all classes, firing costs, clay, options to hire wheels and around the clock access to the studio. Let us know if you have any questions about becoming a member!

08.01.2022 No matter how simple the glaze, concentration is inevitable. Here are some focus shots of previous Studio people.

08.01.2022 The hand-building process. Create > kiln > glaze > kiln & enjoy

07.01.2022 can't wait to have all of our wheel throwing sessions running again next week!

06.01.2022 Every one has their own definition and preference of meditation and as a studio, we love hearing about them all. This was taken from the interview we had with Rod for our stillness magazine about his #Vippassana experience last year. I'd like to draw your attention to these 10 words in particular: "Do I believe that we should all become monks? No." Our philosophy is about finding stillness in the pottery process and that's what sets us a part from other arty activities but ...at our core, we just want you to embrace stillness in whatever way fits best into your life. Success to us is getting to be apart of as many people's versions of stillness as possible. You will be able read the rest of it in the flesh very soon because we are finally about to print volume 2.

02.01.2022 Some days you sit down to throw and the clay doesn't move the way you want it to, your hands aren't steady and you aren't happy with your pot's height or width. On these days, it's important to take a deep breath and throw anyway. Just sit, breathe, and be happy you took the time to let the mind be still.

02.01.2022 Have you signed up for our Beginner Wheel Throwing Course yet? We're so keen to have so many studio artists enjoying everything throwing has to offer. The way we teach it will ensure you receive all therapeutic benefits it has to offer by introducing you to our philosophy of finding stillness in the pottery process.
