21.01.2022 ! When I ask my clients to give me a run down of a standard day of eating, the first thing I notice with more than 90% of them is the lack of vegetables in their diet. This is something we tackle first as a way to get more quality nutrients into their diet and a great way to fill them up for longer by having more volume (without too many added calories).... Have a look at a normal day of eating for you. Are you getting at least 3 servings of vegetables? (serving being about the size of your fist). If not, the easiest place to start might be by adding more into your lunch and/or dinner. Opt for stir fries, large salads (now that we are heading into warmer weather these are more appealing!), or BBQ veg to go on the side of your protein and carb sources. Everything tastes better on a BBQ! Don’t discount frozen veggies, these are such an easy and affordable option. Aim for all the colours! Brown mushrooms, red tomato, green zucchini, yellow capsicum, purple eggplant, orange carrots etc etc To make life easier you can also cut up a lot of your vegetables in one go and store in containers in the fridge so everything is ready to grab when you are in a hurry or throwing together meals. Since upping my intake around 2.5 years ago when i started working with Ruby on my nutrition, i haven't had a common winter cold or flu since. I'm putting it down to this change in my diet. So, eat your damn veggies, every day, okay! See more

17.01.2022 6 months since gyms closed in Victoria. At the time I think we thought it would be over within a few weeks or a couple of months max!... As I gear up to get my team back into the courtyard for training from next week, these are some of the positives that have come from the last 6 months for me: I’ve gotten to know my clients on a deeper level and vice versa. From meeting their family and pets to seeing their lounge and bedrooms on zoom. A new sort of connection has been made! Getting outdoors. SO. MANY. WALKS! I used to get all my steps purely from being on my feet at the gym and going back and forth to it. Now I have to purposely go out and get those steps. Meeting a friend for a beach walk and chat has been wonderful. Connecting with people online. Touching base and checking in with people I haven’t in a long time. Having regular family and friend zoom calls weren’t a thing prior to covid. Time to work on things I didn’t prioritise before. Revamping my website, creating resources for new and exisiting clients, tidying up old systems within my business that needed attention. Discovering more gratitude for things I took for granted. Like hugging my sister, sitting with a group of friends, having a dance in a crowd of people or going for a drive and doing a hike. , ? See more

16.01.2022 Overcoming fear. Situations that create fear or feelings of nervousness happen to all of us, at many points in our lives. For some, more often than others. I used to let these feelings overwhelm me or sometimes stop me from doing things all together. I began to not like saying ‘no’ based on being scared, so I wanted to become better at managing and overcoming these emotions. I realised that I could feel fear and yet still face the challenge head on. I started to learn that th...is skill could be developed to help me through future situations that I had previously avoided. Now when I am faced with an uncomfortable situation, I find what helps is to put things into perspective. I think of other people who would have felt this way and overcame it. This is something that works for me.. When nervous or worried about something, I think of someone having to face a much more extraordinary situation. Like Obama and how he would have felt giving his first ever Presidential speech, a pilot flying his first ever commercial flight full of passengers, a surgeon performing his first brain surgery. When I think of these highly stressful situations, it gives me a sense of courage and calmness knowing that I can face the thing I am about to do. I think to myself, ‘what is the worst possible outcome’ and if I can accept that unlikely outcome, then I no longer feel overcome with fear. I also take a moment to imagine how I would feel if I said ‘no’ to this challenge, and in every case, not doing the ‘thing’ is much worse than taking the shot and potentially failing at it. Our mind is so powerful. You can literally dictate how stressed/nervous/overwhelmed you are in a situation. You have control over it. Courage isn’t the absence of fear, it is feeling the fear and acting in spite of it.

13.01.2022 Bel is an online client who I can honestly say has trained the most consistently out of any woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching. She hits 4-5 sessions a week at home in her garage gym early in the morning before work and before her young daughter wakes up and needs mum for the day! She recently said to me in her weekly check in I love how my training transitions into my life, I love being a fit Mum. ... THAT is what training should be about. It should compliment your life and help you to be a better human for yourself, your family and your friends. I am beyond proud of Bels strength gains the past 2 years and I always have full confidence in her technique even if she’s not training in person with me. Such a rockstar!

10.01.2022 !! I have just finished updating my website! It is now a much more up to date reflection of me, Team Power Coach and what I have to offer with my coaching. ALSO! There is a quiz in there which I would love for you to take. ... It is the BODY IQ ASSESSMENT. The test takes 2 minutes to do and it will give you insight into which areas of your life/health/body you are thriving, and which areas may need some action. Lastly, if you are thinking about taking your training and nutrition to the next level, please contact me and I will send you a questionnaire and we can see if we are a good fit for each other for coaching. All my coaching options are on the site on the Programs page. www.thepowercoach.com.au
