25.01.2022 Good morning, This week we will be focused on reflection and why it is so important. This will involve reflecting on the progress we have made over the last 10 weeks towards our goals. Being able to reflect and look inwards is an important part of being honest with our self and not living in denial. We will also be looking at why being able to self reflect is so important for our mental well-being how it assists to unpack our emotions rather than suppress them, evaluate our ...self for where there is room to improve and plan for any future goals. 22.01.2022 Hey everyone,' This week we are going to be talking about why looking after our mental wellbeing matters. The main reason is that the quality of our mental wellbeing often determines how well we handle the stresses and challenges of life. When we are in a good mental state we feel like we can take on anything. When our mental state is poor even small challenges can feel impossible. We will be discussing five different strategies that we can employ to improve our mental wellbe...ing. First is Mindfulness, this can help keep us grounded in the moment and not thinking about the past or future. There is also knowing how to surf urges which can help us handle impulses better. Gratitude practices encourage positive thinking by taking time to remember the good things and not just the bad. We need to stop viewing Rest & Relaxation as a luxury when it is actually how we recover from stress and fatigue. Moving on from the past, when we continue to fixate on the past it can prevent us from looking to the future and keep us in an unhappy place. 21.01.2022 Hey, Monday the 25th is our first day back for Term 1. We are really excited to be delivering some new programs and look forward to continuing to create opportunity for our participants to find outlets.... Monday 1pm-3pm We have reintroduced art therapy. Wednesday11am-12noon we are running a Self-defense/boxing session at Elite Training Centre Thursday 10am-11.30am Living Skills this will be about learning the basics on budgeting, nutrition, cooking, cleaning, computers etc. And last but not least we have finally decided to run a WOMENS ONLY group. 18.01.2022 Hey, This week we are going to be talking about resilience and why we need to foster it to deal with situations that make us feel stressful or worried. The more resilient we can become the better we will get at overcoming the challenges life throws at us. When we don’t have a good handle on stress we can feel flustered or overwhelmed from even simple tasks. We might also find our self feeling tense or agitated all the time. We might worry too much if we spend an excessive amo...unt of time thinking about things that are outside our control, or that have or haven’t happened yet. However stress and worry can both be powerful motivators. Stress is the pressure to do well and worry shows that we care about the future. When we have a good handle on stress and worry we can allow them to help, rather than hinder our progress. 18.01.2022 Hey Everyone, This week we will be talking about fear and anger. What situations make us feel like this as well when it is normal to experience and when it isn’t. Finally we will talk about what we can do to make sure that these emotions don’t shape the way we live our life. It is important that we learn how to respond to fear and anger in a healthy way. This is since fear and anger can act like a filter that alters how we see the world. For example this can make us difficult... to be around or afraid to branch out. We might not be able to stop all the things that make us feel fearful or angry. However when we know how to deal with our emotions we can choose to respond in a healthy manner and stop letting fear and anger get the better of us. 15.01.2022 Hey Everyone, The Power In You Project is pumped for a big term 4 as we are able to get back to doing the things we love welcoming back our cooking group and our gym sessions which we have missed dearly due to Covid-19. We are are also excited to share that we will be running two support groups a week for people who are struggling with their mental health. These groups are focused on personal and emotional growth to build resilience and self-worth. This week our focus is goal... setting, this helps with keeping ourselves accountable whilst working towards the things we want in our lives. We will be touching base every week over the next term to share our progress and set new goals as we go. For details on all of our Term 4 programs please look at our timetable on this page. We will be looking at what we can do to keep us motivated throughout our recovery and keep us inspired and feeling empowered. We look at how developing a growth mindset is an important part of overcoming adversity, then how we can find purpose in our lives and the tools that will help to assist us in looking to the future.

We will be looking at the reasons behind why me might lie or be dishonest, how that will affect us as well as how we can benefit from being more honest. We will also be looking at how important it is that we can be vulnerable and acknowledge our shortcomings and work to build upon them rather than neglect them. Finally we will discuss why we should attempt... to be more open with who we are rather than try and live a life in denial. I look forward to seeing you all at some stage through the week. 10.01.2022 Hey, Tomorrow is our first day back for Term 1 and our topic as always is goal setting, we will be taking the time to set achievable goals to help keep ourselves accountable over the next 10 weeks. We also have our very first session of ART THERAPY for the year. We will be making vision board art folders to keep all of our stuff in over the next 10 weeks. ... Tuesday is a public holiday so the centre will not be open but make sure we are there Wednesday for our two brand new sessions SELF-DEFENSE/BOXING from 11-12 and our WOMENS ONLY SUPPORT GROUP from 12.30-3. We will looking at physical well-being and the importance of healthy eating, exercise and looking after our bodies. Mental well-being and how we can expand our mind and exercise our brain. Then social well-being and why we need to stay connected and surround our self with people that enrich our life. Finally we will be taking a look at who and what makes us ha...ppy and how and how we can find that happiness in our life. See everyone soon.
01.01.2022 This week our focus is on how we can build up our sense of self-worth through affirmations and writing letters to our self. We will also be looking at what we want our values to be and how that will tie into becoming the person we want to be in the future. We will also be looking at self-acceptance and how to be more comfortable with our self and stop comparing our self to other people. Remember our group sessions can only have 6 people but we are running 5 of these sessions ...a week including our EVENING SUPPORT GROUP plus we are doing our individual support and walk groups daily.
