23.01.2022 "Disturbing as it was to see the 7.30 Report a couple of weeks ago there now lies an opportunity to actually go to the source of the problem wastage. Fourteen... thousand foals born every year with a yield of 9000 that actually race. Alarming figures. Why have we become so poor at breeding the durable thoroughbred of yesteryear, the horse that raced on successfully for many seasons and didnt rely on the vet to keep it on its feet? ... We are not preparing our horses with any mind for longevity. Its all about quick turnover and a quick buck." Read the full article at https://bit.ly/2MVMxsI

21.01.2022 "Racing has tried, for at least a decade, to convince the public that, by virtue of their design, these state-of-the-art encouragement implements cannot inflict... any pain. But to date, there are no peer reviewed studies to show padded whips dont hurt whilst a growing body of evidence suggests otherwise." - Cristina Wilkins READ THE STORY: https://horsesandpeople.com.au/whip-welts-on-melbourne-cup/ DEMAND BETTER FOR HORSE WELFARE: https://www.rspca.org.au/cam/animal-welfare-in-horse-racing

09.01.2022 BREAKING: RSPCA Australia welcomes new world-leading animal welfare legislation in the ACT "We dont treat animals in the same way we do a mobile phone or a car..., and nor should the law. What distinguishes animals from other property is their sentience, and this is precisely the reason we have animal welfare laws, so expressly recognising that just makes sense." 04.01.2022 IN THE NEWS: "The squashed-face dogs Brachycephalic breeds often have partially obstructed airwaves, making them snore and snort, which left untreated can c...ause severe complications and even death.
