25.01.2022 FILL UP YOUR OWN CUP! Personal training can become stressful fast! If you let it. Same goes for anyone running their own business. Youre passionate, so you give it your absolute all. This may mean 16hour working days, long work weeks, can be hard to find time to train yourself let alone just finding you time. Our biggest tip to you, is get your calendar sorted. Put time aside for you, your training, and your other priorities. You cant fill up your clients cups, if your... own is empty. Fill up your own cup first. Remember - you need to slow down to speed up. . . . #perthpersonaltraining #perthfitfam #mindset #personaltrainers #perthsmallbusiness #aipt #fitcollege #mentoring #education See more

24.01.2022 Advanced movement for those a little bored. Are you an experienced lifter with above average mobility and feel like trying something god awful for your quads? Give this load FHE TKE Split Squat a try. - Not suitable for beginners. Suitable for those who enjoy that gut wrenchingly sickening feel of knowing you will not be able to move comfortably for a couple of days after this. - Follow same standards as a split squat. Apply load as required. ... - The use of plate to elevate the front heel is to increase the angle of the knee to stretch and load the quads more. - Please also congratulate our rising star of the month @team_nikki.k.pt for surviving this ordeal :) - See more

20.01.2022 MEET MATTEO! He is an @theaipt graduate, personal trainer and currently undergoing mentoring with us! I chose AIPT because they are the experts in the fitness industry. I really liked the flexibility with learning in my own time with the additional face to face hours where I learnt the practical side. I then signed up with Trainers WA and found an industry job in 10 days. I chose Trainers WA because I didnt feel ready to give my best as PT yet so I looked for a mentor and ...additional learning that would help give me the best starting chance possible as a Personal Trainer. Ive learnt incredible things and have increased my knowledge, from everything business to anatomy. I wouldnt be at the level that I am now if it wasnt for TWA, I am very confident now because I know what I am doing and I know how to inspire and help my clients to achieve their goals. I would recommend AIPT & Trainers WA specially if you are new to the industry, going to TWA will help you a lot, even if you have been in this industry for a while. 14.01.2022 The kettlebell swing. Possibly one of the hardest exercises to teach your clients. Here are some simple steps. 1. Teach the hinge first (RDL) 2. Now add momentum 3. The game is squeeze your ass cheeks as hard and as fast as you can. 4. Eyes on the kettlebell... 3 Common mistakes and how to fix 1. Hyperextending For these engage your lats and practice keep rib cage down. Release spinal erectors with foam roller 2. Not using the glutes and just swinging from lower back. For this activate glutes prior to swing and again keep rib cage down 3. Rounded shoulders. For this, Pull shoulder blades back and down and release chest and lats Enjoy #perth #fitness #perthfitfam #business #training #education #theptadvantage #corona #perthfitness #pt #personaltrainer #perthpersonaltrainer #fitfam #perthfitfam #melbournefitness @ Perth, Western Australia

12.01.2022 Knowing what not to do is every bit as important, as knowing what to do with your clients! As a coach, your job is to get the best results from your clients using the safest methods possible! And for the majority of coaches that are working with general population, this is going to mean sticking to basic movements and simplicity. Simple programming and basic exercise selection will 9/10 result in better adherence from your client and in turn deliver better results. ... So how do you know what exercises are the right choice for your client? Movement screening!! This is easily one of the most important yet most overlooked aspects of training that I see new PTs and even some experienced PTs skip. Performing a movement screen allows you to get an overview of that persons movement capacity. Where their restrictions/limitations and weaknesses are. Think of it like taking your car in for a service. If you plan on putting your car through it’s paces on a race track, you sure as hell want to make sure that everything is functioning properly before you start racing it! If you rock up on race day with a dodgy suspension that hasn’t been checked, then proceed to flog the car around the track, you can bet it’s only a matter of time before something comes undone. So why bother with a movement screen? What does it tell us? Assessing each joint from ankle to neck gives a full picture of what movements your body is capable of / safe to load vs what movements are slightly higher risk / aren’t quite ready to be loaded just yet. Exercise selection should always be individualised, and based on the results of a thorough movement screen. Whilst Barbell movements provide a tremendous amount of bang for their buck, they are also very unforgiving and require a decent amount of movement capacity to perform. So, knowing which exercises to select (variations) and what exercises to avoid (high risk) play a huge role in getting safe and lasting results for your clients!! Every exercise in your program should be there for a reason, don’t pick random exercises because you saw it on Instagram and think it’s cool. Pick exercises based on the goals & ability of your client!

11.01.2022 No matter how strong, capable, and successful you are, there is no escaping the fact that sometimes you will stumble. 09.01.2022 Probably the most common question we are asked is, how do I actually earn money once I become a trainer? and our typical response is, if youre in it just for the money, you should probably just not start. This a career around helping people. You also happen to be running a business. As with any business there will be ups and downs, but you just got to stay positive and remember why you are doing this for a living. The fitness industry is a very interesting blend of sales..., colourful marketing all wrapped up with the intention of helping people, but underneath that there are a lot of people who genuinely want to help. #perthfitfam #perthpersonaltrianer #melbournepersonaltrainer #melbournefitness #melbournegyms #perthgyms #ptadvice @ Genesis Health and Fitness Bentley 24/7

07.01.2022 ARE YOU TRAINING HARD ENOUGH?? There are a few different ways to monitor the intensity of a working set. The most accurate way is to use a % of your 1 rep max (1RM) and relate that % to a given rep range. ... So for example, a very common strength system used for squats would be 5 sets of 5 reps performed @ 80% of your 1RM. This would mean if you have a 1RM Squat of 100kg, you would perform 5x5@80kg. The percentage system is definitely the most accurate way to gauge and program intensity, how ever it does have its draw backs. If you have a fixed number to hit for that day, it doesnt allow any flexibility for how you are feeling on that day, for example if youve had a poor nights sleep, poor Nutrition, high level of stress, dehydration etc etc, these all have negative impacts to your performance, and can effect how you feel and lift, but the % will still be the same meaning you are programmed to hit that specific number. One way around this that I like to use for my clients is to use a % range rather than a fixed %. Another draw back of a % system is that it only works when you know what your maximum weight is. So we have Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) is a standard intensity system that runs from 6-10 and can be applied to any rep range you want. So for example, if we perform a set of 5 reps at an RPE of 10, it means that you physically cannot perform any more reps, it is your absolute maximum effort aka 10/10, you have no reps in reserve. However, they do have their draw backs. If you are a beginner lifter or someone that isnt very motivated, your perception of an 8/10 effort vs the reality of an 8/10 effort may be slightly skewed, and result in you not pushing hard enough. My personal approach to programming is to use % based methods with Barbell Strength exercises, and then to use an RPE/RIR method for accessory movements. Both methods have their pros and cons but hopefully this gives you a better understanding on why they are used and how to apply them to your training. - @teamchpt . . . #trainerswa #fitfam #perthpt #perthfitfam #perthpersonaltrainer #perthpersonaltraining #perthpersonaltrainers #fitness #gym #personaltrainer #personaltra
