24.01.2022 Did someone say Victorian Youth Week... more like Victorian Youth month! Instead of the usual week-long format, this year we're celebrating you our passionate community of young people right through to December 15. This new month-long format recognises the significant challenges you have faced this year and provides you with a little more time to adapt, discover and participate in events and activities taking place online. Jump over to Youth Central to find out more. And keep an eye on our socials over the next few weeks as we announce NEW programs and opportunities for 2021

21.01.2022 Staging live events provides young people with important practical learning, volunteering and work experiences. It’s an early career pathway which many young people use to start their careers within contemporary music. But throughout 2020 many of those opportunities vanished, which put career ambitions on hold indefinitely. This was a common theme in our Raise Your Voice survey. Phoebe, who was working as a sound engineer and bartender at a live music venue in Melbour...ne has lived that experience first-hand. Not only was Phoebe pursuing a career in the industry through work and internships, she was also studying and actively performing shows with her band. But when the lockdown hit her ambitions were put on hold and it has since taken a huge toll on her mental health. COVID-19 has provided us with a unique opportunity to reimagine and reshape our future music industry. Imagine what it could look like if we put young people's enthusiasm, ambition and passion front and centre! See more

19.01.2022 Creative Victoria is developing a future strategy for the creative industries - guiding the Victorian Government's priorities from 2021 and beyond. We know that young people play an important role in determining what a future looks like for music makers, industry professionals and audiences. If you’re aged 15 25 years old and involved in the creative industries, complete the survey by November 19 and help shape the future of our music community in Victoria. 14.01.2022 This year has given us the opportunity to reflect and look back at our history. The Push has played a unique role in the Victorian music community, our story goes right back to the late 1980s. One of our early gigs was Push Over at Luna Park in 1994. It drew a crowd of more than 3,000 young people. The line-up included Silverchair, Magic Dirt Official, Spiderbait, The Meanies and more... They were as fresh faced as we all were! Do you remember your first gig? Where was it? And who played? Tell us about it in the comments and let's take a trip down memory lane

13.01.2022 Well what a year it’s been! Our Chairperson has taken a moment to reflect on the year that was, welcome some new (and familiar) faces and say thank you to this year's outgoing board members. Read more by visiting: https://linktr.ee/thepushinc

12.01.2022 The Push was recently invited by APRA AMCOS to present to their senior leadership team and discuss the impact COVID-19 is having on young people within the contemporary music sector. We were joined by Keelan Mak, Phoebe Kinrade, Suzi Yaghmoor, Dallas Woods and Chloe Dadd who each presented firsthand experiences of how this challenging year has been affecting them. It has highlighted the important role organisations like APRA AMCOS and The Push play in supporting young, emerging artists and industry practitioners. We would like to thank APRA AMCOS for ensuring young people’s voices are being heard and using them to help inform the recovery of our industry as we enter into a COVID Normal world.

01.01.2022 As the end of the year fast approaches, we say our soft goodbyes to this year’s group of participants from our Music Industry Mentoring program. It was a whacky year to start a mentoring relationship and dig into a career within the music industry, but this year’s group took it head on with enthusiasm, passion and optimism. Join with us as we celebrate the future event managers, business owners, artist representatives, music journalists, performers, producers and behind-the-...scenes crews who’ll be leading Australia’s contemporary music industry into 2021 and beyond. A big thank you to our Music Industry Mentoring program supporters, the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.

01.01.2022 This week is NAIDOC Week an opportunity for us to collectively celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Push acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands across Australia where our work takes place and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters, community and culture.
