23.01.2022 Last Saturday, activists protested against the treatment of refugees that have been confined to Kangaroo Point Central Hotel & Apartments in Brisbane. Known as the #KP120, they were brought over from Manus and Nauru a year ago to receive medical treatment and have stayed in the hotel ever since. He quickly walked back his remarks after a wave of backlash, but members of the trans community and their allies are saying that it isn't good enough, and he must be sacked from his position as mayor. Workers are demanding that the W.A. government put their differences aside and pass a bill that would make workplace manslaughter a criminal offence, empowering workers and unions to hold negligent employers to account.
