20.01.2022 This week worldwide sensation Travis Scott announced and participated in a collaboration with the currently most streamed video game on earth, Fortnite. Immediately after the announcement Travis Scott gained an additional 23% in streams on music subscription platforms and 50% after the first event. Fortnite on the other hand set a game record, having 12.3 million players on the game at any one time and even more watching streams. All 10 of the worlds most popular video gamin...g streamers streamed the event and I myself personally played the event. I have to say, for a multi-channel partnership strategy which includes music streaming services, video games, social media, PR, VOD adverts and search/display; this is about as good as it gets. The strategy was so integrated and the event itself was executed in such a brilliant and visually stunning and unprecedented way that it will set precedence for future integrated partnerships. And additionally to that it achieved it's goal. Travis Scott's new song was and in some cases still is #1 on the most streamed charts of all major music streaming services and Fortnite achieved #1 viewership, players and streamers for video games in the entire world. I wanted to draw attention to Desa Potato Head's use of social media during this shutdown period though through the use of their scheduled "Daily Ritual" content. It's a well-thought-out social media strategy aimed at both engaging their well-established creative market and bettering their brand image with customers who may not totally understand why the Desa Potato Head brand is so special. Bar everything else it's a really positive example of corporate responsibility.

10.01.2022 It's good to see bigger brands adjusting their own marketing strategies to suit consumers behavioural changes to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of these is the incentivisation of product purchases through exclusive value add products. Heinz announced just this last week when they began production on a branded 570 piece all-red puzzle which promises to be extra slow and extra difficult. It's not a bad strategy either. Based on data which point to a whopping 650% rise in search traffic for puzzles since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, you can be sure the combination of brand colour and the guarantee that any consumer doing the puzzle will be sitting on the task for hours will increase Heinz Ketchup's brand recall for the long term.
09.01.2022 As always the champion of social causes may just be the corporations who chose whether to allow them to stand or not. The move to boycott advertising channels based on how they distribute media isn't surprising and actually isn't new either. It'll be interesting though to see how it pans out.
