24.01.2022 When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you dont blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet, if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we knew how to take care of them, they would grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and argument. No blame, no reasonin...g, no argument, just understanding. 24.01.2022 Thank you Jane for sharing this... I was at a large department store last night and heard a loud crash and something shattering. Being nosy, I walked towards th...e sound and saw some people whispering and looking back to the end of the next aisle. When I walked down that aisle, I saw that an older lady had hit a shelf and many things had fallen to the ground and broken. She was kneeling on the floor embarrassed, frantically trying to clean up. I felt so bad for her. Every one was just standing there staring at her. So I went and knelt beside her and told her not to worry and started helping her pick up the broken pieces. After about a minute, the store manager came and knelt beside us and said, Leave it, we will clean this up. The lady, totally embarrassed said, I need to pay for all this. The manager smiled, helped her to her feet and said, No maam, we have insurance for this, you do not have to pay anything! If you have read this far, give me another minute. Wherever you are, close your eyes, and imagine God doing the same for you! Imagine the broken pieces of your mistakes or the pieces of your broken heart from all the blows life has thrown at you all over the floor and youre there trying to collect all of the pieces and fix them yourself. Now imagine God comes and kneels right down beside you, smiles and says to you, Leave it all there, I will clean this up for you. He loves you that much and wants to put all of those pieces back together if you will let Him! With Him we have this insurance and its called GRACE! Its free! 23.01.2022 Letting Go is a great clich and heard more often now than ever before. But really what is letting go? I thought about it when I was driving a long distance in a very strong wind recently and it was difficult to keep the car in the right lane. I had to grip the steering wheel very tightly and even though I was alternating the hand with the tight grip, by the end of the journey it was difficult to move my fingers and release the grip that I had on the steering wheel. My hands and muscles were set in place, and it was hard to let go. And then I thought about letting go. 18.01.2022 Today, she said to herself "Enough is enough!". After losing her job she had slipped into a self-indulgent space and somehow enjoyed not having to get up, dress up or show up, just because she could. Not having to be somewhere, do something or be someone for somebody else. Her comfy gear became the norm and her mind slipped into comfy gear as well. With the lack of direction, motivation and focus, fear crept into the empty space. She began to worry about the future and fina...nces. As it gained momentum many other things jumped on board as well, beginning a cycle where nothing seemed to go right. Her negative mindset had begun attracting other things to make her feel the same way. Deep down she knew this, and knew it was time to stop this downward spiralling cycle. Something went click and she knew it was time to get her routine back. So she pretended. She pretended that she was in control of her own business ... herself. And started treating herself like the true asset that she was. She got up, made a cuppa and took her mind back to the time that she was so busy, and wishing that she had some time to .... She began to write down all of those things that she wanted to do. She also started thinking of all of those things that she wanted to be and how she could get there. She called a meeting with her "staff" - her finance manager, HR person, educational consultant - and began to formulate a plan. As the light began to shine in, she felt that a few clouds were blowing away. She felt a sense of purpose stirring deep within and knew that it was time to take control. Because if she didnt, no-one else would. She also began to feel that out of the darkest hour, could come a strength and determination that would serve her well for the rest of her life. 05.01.2022 My New Years wish for you ... Sometimes, you remember that feeling. That feeling of freedom, a source of strength. A light, a power source inside. You cant s...ee it, you cant always feel it and sometimes you forget that it is there. Or maybe you never even knew. Like a beautiful light that has been covered by layer upon layer of darkness ... life events, negative thoughts generated by you, or others. Disregard them. Replace them with kind thoughts towards yourself and others, allow yourself a moment to notice the small things that bring you pleasure, remind yourself of the things in your life for which you have gratitude, think about what you would like to create next in your life. As you allow the light to enter, the layers of darkness will dissolve, one by one, until you begin to feel the warmth and comfort of this light within. Then, you will feel your true strength, courage and sense of freedom ... and know that anything is possible. Remember, you are never alone. 03.01.2022 Remember the times in your life when you had certainty about something? How did you feel? Chances are you felt good, confident, in control and had a sense of peace. With uncertainty comes anxiety born of fear. Fear of the unknown, of not being in control and an inner turmoil from imagined scenarios that may never eventuate. Anxiety usually comes from over-estimating the danger, and under-estimating your ability to handle it. Remember that you are never given more than you can... handle. So if you knew that you could handle whatever may come, even if you dont know what it will be, how would you feel? "A bird sitting on a branch has no fear of the branch breaking, because her trust is in the strength of her own wings". Accept uncertainty as a new way of life, accept that you dont know whats next, and thats OK for now. Notice opportunities that never existed before. Change your perception of circumstances and focus on being flexible. Let go of what was and embrace change. You will be OK. We will be OK. If you need a shoulder to lean on or someone to walk beside you for a while, reach out. We are all strong in different ways and you can also be someone elses strength as they support you.
