25.01.2022 Introducing the wonderful Sarah who works at our Bella Vista Clinic on Mondays & Tuesdays! Sarah joined TLC in 2018 and has enjoyed being part of the warm and relational team. She has previously worked in neurology, orthopedics and lymphoedema, and with children at a UK school. She loves seeing the change in children when they discover they can do something they'd struggled with for a long time. Outside of work Sarah will most likely be with her husband and four children. She loves to be outside, running, horse riding, hiking or drinking tea with a friend.

23.01.2022 Hi, Im Emma, physiotherapist and director of Therapy and Learning Centre (TLC). I began working at Therapy & Learning Centre in 2005, and have since progressed to practice Manager and then to Director of the practice. During that time I also spent 8 years training with an experienced Podiatrist, which has equipped me with a unique combination of specialist skills to assess and treat conditions of the foot and lower limbs in children. We have two practices at TLC, Hornsby an...d Bella Vista. Across the two centres we have 9 therapists, comprising Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. Our therapists are all excellent clinical practitioners, and are adept to make you and your child feel welcome at our Centre. Our aim is to assist children in developing their skills, so that they function more easily and thrive in their daily tasks. These tasks commonly include important gross motor milestones as babies, sitting comfortably in the classroom and writing, playing outside with greater coordination, and studying and completing HSC exams. My team and I welcome you to our Facebook page - stay tuned!

17.01.2022 Why is "tummy time" important? Tummy time is an important part of a babys play and development time. Tummy time:... Develops shoulder control, neck and head control Develops back extensors Develops balance reactions and the ability to shift weight from one side of the body to the other Leads to commando crawling and pivoting on tummy Enables baby to pull knees in under tummy (with increasing abdominal control) and then start reciprocal crawling Allows the head to have pressure-free time (since babies are slept on their backs, flat spots can develop). Here are some tips to help your baby tolerate tummy time: Put baby down on the floor frequently. Lie them on back or side and roll them over onto tummy Start with short bursts, e.g. 30 seconds, and gradually increase the time Place a towel under their chest to help elevate the head and shoulders Put them on your tummy so they feel close to you Give them lots of praise and encouragement, pat them gently and talk to them so they are reassured. Get down on the floor with them so they can see you. For babies with reflux, do tummy time before a feed Also for reflux babies, lie them on a slope so their head is above their tummy.
