13.01.2022 It’s somewhat ironic that COVID-19 has afforded me more opportunities for meaningful exposure and greater reach than the last two years combined. 10.01.2022 From work in progress. Early last December I began photographing the #oldgrowthforest just a few minutes from home in the #yarraranges where extensive logging has occurred. Needing to finish a roll of expired #kodaktrix400 this time I took my #pentaxmesuper with me. ... The scale of destruction, of devastation, is no less epic and overwhelming after several visits. Being amidst what remains, an eerie, silent stillness pervades, and near total despair at what has been sacrificed - for copy paper This particular day the light was super harsh and glaring, my zoom not playing nice and I wasn’t expecting much from these exposures. Towards the end of Melbourne’s lockdown I returned more intentionally to the slower analogue process lacking the immediate outcomes and instant gratification of digital and began to concentrate more consistently on film work, documenting home and local surroundings using some very expired stock and untested equipment.
