25.01.2022 TEMPORARY CLOSURE - 6 WEEKS Just letting everyone know that I am now unable to operate There Fur You due to the latest Covid-19 business restrictions. Professional dog walking is not considered an essential service during the next phase of this lockdown. Although I know many of you rely on me and the dogs certainly look forward to it - it is not 100% needed and I know you will be able to manage without it for the next 6 weeks. ... I am so glad and grateful I have been able to continue to operate and service you since the beginning of this pandemic. I have considered myself very lucky given the circumstances. But now it's time for me (along with my other dog walker buddies) to make this sacrifice and do what we need to do, in order to get the situation under control. It might seem like our job is low risk and it is, but with the rising number of cases in Melbourne, ANYONE out and about is at risk. Remember... we aren't invincible or immune to this. For now, I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who supports me and allows me to earn a living by socialising, exercising or caring for your animals. I hope we can pick up where we left off once restrictions ease. Until then, please stay safe, look after yourselves, look out for each other, be kind, be patient and I'll see you again soon. Katie
25.01.2022 Feeling hot hot hot
25.01.2022 Making the most of this spectacular weather I hope I can continue to walk all the doggies... tighter restrictions seems to be the current big topic. Fingers crossed we finally start to see Covid numbers decrease and that mandatory mask wearing is helping slow/stop the community transmission. These past 5 months have been unlike any other! It's so hard not to be able to connect with friends and family. All those things we work hard for - holidays, wining & dining, weekends a...way at airbnbs, family dinners, catch ups with friends... It's so difficult not knowing when we might be able to enjoy them again. But we can't lose faith, we have to keep fighting and be strong. Sending love to all those who are doing it tough at the moment. Especially to families directly affected by the virus.
23.01.2022 Missing all my fur mates, fresh air and freedom
23.01.2022 I've just been sharing the exciting news with Chippy... that it looks like I'll be able to reopen my business this week it feels like such a welcome relief to be able to get back to what I love and see all my beautiful furry friends that I have missed so much these past few months! I will be in touch with you all soon to organise my return to work. Thank you so much for your patience. Chippy is very excited to meet all his new mates. "We’re also able to get thousands more Victorians back to work particularly those who work outside. That includes tradies undertaking outdoor maintenance and repair work, mobile pet groomers and photographers. These are the changes we can safely make from tonight." - a relevant snippet from the latest press conference this morning
22.01.2022 Say cheese it's Tuesday
21.01.2022 Wonderful Wintery Wednesday
21.01.2022 Just living my best lockdown life... Not mad about it Based on current advice it seems dog walkers may be able to go back to work from 19th October but I guess we know the goal posts keep getting changed. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.
17.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE With Stage 4 business restrictions discussed today, there is so much ambiguity regarding whether dog walkers are able to continue to operate. Our business model is very low contact - collecting dogs from a side gate or yard, barely any face to face contact with clients, the ability to steer clear of other people sharing the park with us (if any) and most of us are sole traders operating alone! There is conflicting information and inconsistent answers c...irculating at this time. For the next two days, things will continue as normal and hopefully the rules around the industry will become clearer. If I have to close for 6 weeks, well I guess that's the way the dog cookie crumbles. Hang tight and I'll be making a further announcement by Wednesday Sending love to everyone. Katie

09.01.2022 The boys are patiently waiting for news on whether the snap lockdown is coming to an end tonight
09.01.2022 How is everyone? I miss you all Unfortunately at this stage I don't think I'll be able to return to work until at least the 28th September but will keep you updated as I find out more information. One nice thing about being in this lockdown is having the time to notice and appreciate the Spring changes in our beautiful garden.

02.01.2022 It has always been a bit funny being a dog walker who doesn't actually have their own dog. So we decided to do something about that. Say hello to Chip/Chippy who is approx 3 years old and possibly a border collie x kelpie. He arrived to us yesterday and is such a sweet boy, wonderfully social with other dogs, great with our cats, knows sit/shake/drop and will wait for his food, he's just a little anxious in the car so hopefully we can work on that over the next couple of weeks before he can tag along on a work day with me he is settling in nicely and is looking forward to meeting all his new mates as soon as he can.
01.01.2022 Sorry I've been a little quiet, a lot of you have messaged me such beautiful and kind messages after my announcement on Wednesday about the temporary closure. I just wanted you to know that I'm not ignoring anyone and I really honestly appreciate every single one of you. My health has been a real struggle lately. It's actually the reason I started my business because I had been suffering with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since 2013 and couldn't continue with my full time corpora...te career. On one hand this business keeps me sane; helps me feel semi normal, pushes me to keep structure and helps keep my mind off the daily symptoms of my chronic illnesses. On the other hand sometimes I have a habit of pushing a little too much therefore this break came at a good time... I was a bit burnt out trying to fit in medical appointments, keeping symptom diaries, educating myself on new diagnosis', trying to stay positive but feeling like my body was falling apart. I guess I just wanted to say that I'm taking some quiet time out for myself, sleeping in, patting my cats, taking leisurely walks, learning, attending medical appointments, eating chocolate and making 10 cups of tea per day but only really drinking 5 of them. Hoping to use this time wisely to get on top of my health so that when restrictions lift and I'm able to continue walking/pet sitting again - I'll be in a better place both physically and mentally. Thinking of everyone and missing my best fur-iends
