23.01.2022 Today’s question for Conversations is: What does your partner do that makes you feel safe? What do they do that makes you feel unsafe?

22.01.2022 I’m not sure whether it was inspired by this moment or not, but from a very young age I wanted to help people. (I’m the short one). Not long after this photo was taken though I split my head open on the corner of a heater and the copious amounts of blood probably turned me off nursing. Instead, I took it upon myself to help people with their troubles. I was the peace keeper, the problem solver. I’m not sure how welcome my advise was at times but I know as I grew older I... was the one friends came to for a chat when things weren’t going as planned. And I revelled in it! I still do. I absolutely love my work. I love healing people’s hurts, giving them hope and bringing love back to their lives. It’s truly an honour to do the work I do. How about you? Are you living your dream? Are you doing what you’re meant to be doing in life? Maybe I can help you get there.

22.01.2022 Here’s some great questions to get you thinking: 1. What are the needs of the relationship? Does it need stability, fun and adventure, love and connection? And how can you give these to the relationship? 2. What are the values of the relationship? You will each have your own individual values, but what are the values of your relationship? 3. When does the relationship feel threatened or scared? 4. What sort of attention does the relationship like?... 5. What are the relationship’s hobbies? 6. What does the relationship like to talk about? 7. How can you both make the relationship feel safe? 8. What’s the relationship’s favourite colour / flower / season? 9. Does your relationship have a name? 10. Is your relationship extroverted or introverted? See more

16.01.2022 What to do when you break a promise to yourself.

16.01.2022 Today we’re talking stress management. You can either eliminate, reduce or manage your stresses. What will you do to lighten your load?

16.01.2022 I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed this pattern within myself that if I’m not feeling 100% I either beat myself up about it as though I’ve done something wrong or done something to deserve it, or I try to escape it by drinking or eating or watching Netflix. It’s recently occurred to me that feeling good all the time is actually normal and not worth getting upset about. From now on I think I might just sit with any yucky feeling and ask it what are you trying to tell me, I’m here, I’m listening, maybe we can work this out together.

12.01.2022 In a relationship, when you satisfy two of the needs of the other person you have a connection, if you satisfy 4 you have a strong attachment and if you satisfy all six you are permanently bonded for life. Core needs are: Certainty (stability) Uncertainty (variety)... Love and Connection (refer to the 5 love languages recently posted) Significance Contribution Growth How will you fulfil your partner’s needs even more, in order to create deeper levels of connection and intimacy?

12.01.2022 The big overarching thing I do in my work is identifying and dealing with STRESS on Relationships. Now this may be more easily understood when it comes to a relationship between two people but when we’re talking about the relationship you have with yourself , it may not be so clear. Of course, it goes without saying, that if you’re in a relationship with someone else, the stresses that affect the relationship with yourself are going to naturally stress the re...lationship with others. This is why in my couples sessions I always spend time with the individuals to help clear the stress that they’re bringing to party. I wonder whether you can relate to any of these primary stresses in regards to your relationship with yourself? @ Darwin, Northern Territory

11.01.2022 Welcome to Conversations - a new series of videos from The Relationship Lab, posted every Friday. Conversations give you and your partner a topic to discuss that will bring you to a deeper understanding of each other and therefore be better able to support one another. Today’s conversation question is this: ... How do you like to be comforted when... You can finish this sentence yourself, and add different endings, maybe ‘when a loved one dies’, ‘when you’re in physical pain’, ‘when something goes wrong at work’. So then next time that thing happens you know exactly what your partner needs from you. Have a great weekend!
