22.01.2022 Today were back on the fire ground for the Morton NP Fire in the southern highlands. Even after the main fire has passed, the tree roots themselves are still on fire.

21.01.2022 Ongoing support in the southern highlands. Despite a reprieve in the weather there are still plenty of spot fires and mopping up to be done. We also took 15kg of carrots to help out the local wildlife.

21.01.2022 Our new trainees are on the ground this morning getting some training in ahead of their B/F assessment.

20.01.2022 The coming of rain saw an end to the Theresa Park RFB involvement in the GreenWattle and Morton Fires, from our first tasking to the fire in Ridge Road Oakdale on December 5th to our last trip to the Southern Highland Villages on January 28th we put in1,430 man-hours and traveled nearly 6,000 km, a great achievement for a small Brigade, on some days we left the Station at 6am and arrived home at 9pm, tired but satisfied that we had played a vital part in the battle against th...e fires that would not give up, to our local community thank you so much for your support it really was appreciated. 18.01.2022 I am sad to have to advise of the passing overnight of our Deputy Captain Ross Kelly, prior to his retirement he was an A380 Captain with QANTAS having flown for them for over 30 years, flying was his passion owning his own plane and ferrying aircraft all over the world. Whilst in South Africa in July 2018 he was in the crash of a vintage Convair 340 he sustained injuries from which he never recovered. The members of Theresa Park Rural Fire Brigade and the wider RFS community offer our sincere condolences to his wife Lyndal and his family. RIP Ross.

18.01.2022 Our volunteer members have recently provided over 600hrs in support to combat the Green Wattle Creek Fire, with more ongoing support to follow. Not to mention a fire call on Christmas Day for an unattended fire and a bushfire on Boxing Day. Needless to say its tiring work, but we have a great team that we can always rely on!

15.01.2022 Incredible satellite footage of smoke from the NSW bush fires which has passed New Zealands South Island, testament to the amount of vegetation that has burnt over the last 36 hours. Some of the smoke from the pyro-convective thunderstorms has even reached the troposphere.

14.01.2022 Last week we had quite a few new faces turn up to discuss joining the Theresa Park RFB. Needless to say were looking forward to signing a few new members!

12.01.2022 A number of dangerous fires are burning across south eastern NSW. Weather conditions continue to deteriorate. People close to active fires should immediately fi...nd a safe and clear location. This includes people camping in bushland areas. A strong and gusty southerly change moving across the state, this is causing fires to be erratic and unpredicatable. See more

11.01.2022 Conducting local pile burns makes for a good training session out of the fire season. Today our newest member Jacquie got to hone her skills!

09.01.2022 Yesterday we were tasked to Bundanoon to patrol, find and extinguish smouldering logs/trees that could reignite the Morton fire. Along the way we experienced fire safety bunkers, Monks and...fire. Recent rains have helped but will not fully eliminate the risk of reignition. 09.01.2022 The 2019-20 bush fire season was the most challenging NSW has ever faced - and took an enormous toll on communities across the state. After major events like this, we conduct community research to better understand how people prepared and responded to the fires. The NSW RFS has commissioned this research through the UOW: University of Wollongong, Australia and the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC. Following a period of interviews with residents from across NSW, we are now po...sting an Online Survey. Complete the online survey at http://bit.ly/nswbushfiresearch I am inviting you to support the research by encouraging your local Districts and Brigades to share the online survey with their communities. This information is also posted on the NSW RFS website page and the NSW RFS Facebook page. If you would like to know more about the NSW RFS involvement in this research please feel free to email [email protected].
