22.01.2022 THE BLAZER A well-made blazer is a transformative piece. It makes denim dressy, party dresses polished, and with the right fit can give a boyish figure curves, or make those last 2kg’s disappear! What’s not to love? BUY the right blazer & it will be money well spent too! I bought this blazer last year & I can’t tell you how often I’ve worn it! Remember the style motto ‘buy once buy well’. Have a fabulous night!... Stay stylish Joanna x #sydneypersonalshopper #sydneystylist #sydneyshopping
20.01.2022 Looking for trousers & pants to suit your budget & body type? After shopping with a client at Zara today I just had to share! All of these trousers are under $100, with many more styles to choose from! Check out my tips on which style is right for you. V shape you have broader shoulders than hips, so balance your shoulders with a wide leg shape and go for details at the hip if you want to look more curvaceous. H shape you have a similar width shoulders to hips & an undefi...ned waist, so follow your shape with a straight leg pant. You may find fabrics with stretch fit you better if you have a flat bottom. I shape you are straight and would describe your shape as boyish, so create some curves with pleats at the waist and hips, or hip detail. A shape your hips/thighs are broader than your shoulders but you have a defined waist. Look for shapes that have a little flare to balance your hips. Wear pants in a darker colour pared with a patterned or lighter coloured top to draw the eye upwards. X shape your shoulders and hips are balanced and you have a defined waist. Styles with wide waistbands will be advantageous, you may find that you have to have the waist on trousers taken in. High waist trousers often look fabulous on you! O shape your tummy protrudes and is your widest feature. You will find that slim leg styles are the most flattering as you can wear them with longer tops. Now another trick is to check out slim leg maternity trousers. I know that may sound dreadful! However they have extra fabric through the midsection & a regular fit through the leg - with plenty of cool maternity labels available now, you will have plenty to choose from. 8 shape your hips and shoulders are fairly balanced with a defined waist, you most often have a high shelf hip. A wider waistband can help, look for straight or a slight flair. Stay stylish xx Joanna #sydneystylist #sydneypersonalshopper

15.01.2022 WHICH DENIM FOR YOU? LONG TORSO: Women with long torsos aren’t necessarily tall; they just have a longer midsection, which makes finding a proper pair of denim that sits comfortably on their hips can be hard to come by. In this case, look for super high-rise styles or those with a longer inseam. TALL WOMEN: For taller women, finding a jean that doesn’t leave you with an awkward foot-to-ankle gap isn’t easy without a trip to a specialty shop. look for jeans that come in extr...a long styles as well as cropped styles that are shorter on purpose. SHORT TORSO: As a woman with a smaller midsection, it’s important to find hip-hugging styles or those that sit lower on your waist to give you the appearance of a longer midsection. 09.01.2022 DETOX YOUR WARDROBE | I’ve been doing plenty of wardrobe detoxing for clients of late! So here are my tips again for doing a wardrobe detox for yourself There are 4 steps to wardrobe organisation: Remove: Trash or donate. Reuse: Alterations and storage. Restore: Clothing needed to pull outfits together.... Regroup: Organising for maximum efficiency. 1. REMOVE a: Remove b: Donate c: Throw out -Clothing that doesn’t fit or is unflattering, unless it’s in good condition and can be altered - Not in your best colour - Styles that are out dated - Clothing that is worn out - Clothing that hasn’t been worn for over 1 year - this is often the most traumatic of steps for people! - Clothing that doesn’t make you feel attractive or comfortable, and clothing that doesn’t make you feel good about yourself! These pieces should be donated, altered, or tossed. Make three piles - one for each category. 2. REUSE: STORAGE AND ALTERATIONS Take all items to the tailor for alterations. Remove all items that are out of season and store them. STORING CLOTHING: Sweaters and knitted jumpers should be neatly folded into storage bins to keep them from stretching out. Place a scented fabric sheet and/or cedar balls to keep your stored clothing fresh and ready to be worn again. Never pack clothing in tightly, allow for air to circulate. 3. RESTORE: FILL IN THE GAPS Once you have cleared your closet you will see what pieces you are missing. Now you can create your shopping list. 4. REGROUP: SYSTEMS Organise by style; short sleeve to long sleeve, and skirts to shorts to pants. Organise each style by colour. NEVER use wired hangers, they really do ruin the shape of your clothing. Knits and sweaters should be folded onto shelves or in drawers to keep their shape. Hang scarves, and belts. Stay stylish! xx Joanna #sydneypersonalshopper

05.01.2022 THE WHITE T is a must-have for every style personality. A white T can pull separates together to create a great outfit in seconds! 04.01.2022 THE BEST NECKLINE FOR YOU! Here are some tips I’ve compiled for finding the right neckline for you ............................................................... HOURGLASS: universal necklines - sweetheart, scoop neck, V-neck & square. INVERTED TRIANGLE: de-emphasise your upper torso - V-necks, scoops, U-neck.... OVAL: de-emphasise your mid-section & define your curves. Scoop, square, wide V & U-shaped. RECTANGLE: The goal is to look more curvaceous. Boat neck, sweetheart, square, wide V-neck or U-shape. TRIANGLE: Add volume to your upper body. Boat neck, wide V-neck, U-neck, square & sweetheart. I hope this was helpful! Stay stylish, xx Joanna #sydneypersonalshopper #personalshopper #sydneystylist
03.01.2022 WEARING PATTERN WHICH ‘VALUE’ CONTRAST FOR YOU? Value Contrast is the difference between light & dark. The pattern you wear needs to harmonise with the lightness and darkness of your features. Tip: Edit a photo of yourself smiling to Mono/ black and white. Compare the contrast of your hair (and eyebrows), eyes and skin. This also includes the lightness and brightness of the whites of your eyes and teeth. This last note is especially important for women with dark skin to c...onsider. LOW CONTRAST: You have a low contrast between the shade of your hair, eyes, skin tone. Celebs: Naomi Watts, Cate Blanchette, Tyra Banks, Beyoncé. Wear low contrast patterns. Experimenting with Analogous colours can be helpful too. Colours next to each other on the colour wheel. Just remember you are looking for colours of similar value. MEDIUM CONTRAST: Most women fall into this category. You have a moderate contrast between the shade of your hair, eyes and skin colour. Celebs: Margo Robbie, Eva Mendes, Kate Bekinsale, Priyanka Chopra. Wear medium value contrast patterns. Experimenting with Triad colours can be helpful too. 3 colours evenly spaced on the colour wheel. But not too extreme, make sure to balance your contrast & consider some muted tones. Remember you’re looking for a medium contrast of light and dark in the pattern. HIGH CONTRAST: You have a high contrast between your hair, eyes, and skin tone. Or your hair is significantly darker than your skin tone. And/Or you have very bright whites of the eyes & teeth compared to the rest of your features. Celebs: Anne Hathaway, Christina Ricci, Lupita Nyong’o, Lucy Liew, Alek Wek, Gwen Stefani (platinum hair, fair skin & dark brown eyes). Wear high value contrast patterns. Experimenting with Complementary colours too can be helpful. These are opposing colours on the colour wheel. Opting for brightness in colours can work well. Or a black and white pattern [equal parts black and white]. LASTLY This is only a guide and ultimately if you love something, wear it! Confidence rocks any outfit I hope this was helpful! Stay stylish xx Joanna #therewillbestyle #sydneypersonalshopper
