23.01.2022 When you’re not pregnant or living that sleep deprived life with a newborn for the first time in a decade and start taking better care of yourself for them, for you and everyone around you!!! It’s Saturday and I have 2 hours of me time scheduled!!! Woohoo! Today I’m reading ‘The resilience project - finding happiness through gratitude, empathy and mindfulness by Hugh Van Cuylenburg. I started reading it yesterday in the car while it poured down rain just in time for s...chool pick up and it hit a chord that I really wasn’t prepared for. So far I am really enjoying it. I even stayed up late last night to chat to my only brother about our childhood and our lives since. It’s crazy to think we never have stopped to share perspectives like we did last night. Life is strange and extremely complicated but one thing I have learnt is that there is always room for forgiveness and second chances. People can certainly change their paths and I am proud of both of us. Nothing is set in stone until we are dead is how I see it. Sharing my thoughts because my thoughts are sometimes what others need to hear to remind themselves that just because it is the way, doesn’t mean you have to keep it that way. Change is icky but necessary for growth. #photooftheday #metime #changeyourlife #changeisgood #happiness #grateful #mindfulness #love #resilience #growthmindset #bookworm #saturdayvibes #mumma #clickinmoms #motheroffive #glassesfashion #childhoodmemories #childhoodunplugged #motherhood #mythoughts #empoweringwomen

16.01.2022 The best moments are the ones where we are just running around playing games and having real fun! I look back and I remember everything!!! The smell of the grass, the cool air, the open field, the Joey that jumped away and the pure joy of just being together in a new space. #photographicmemory #memoriesforlife #photographer #blackandwhitephotography @capricorncaves

15.01.2022 why I love family sessions at home they are a great excuse to clean the house, jump on the bed and create everlasting memories of these young years

14.01.2022 So before my camera decides it doesn't love me anymore I thought I better show it some love ASAP (also I have a few expenses coming up... has anyone else sold a kidney for their child to get braces recently? Also, will that child ever look back and thank you for giving them the gift of nice straight teeth?). I have a mask, a sense of humor, and this Saturday and Sunday free to take some updated family photos for you, your extended family, or friends! Location-wise, I am loca...ted in Camp Hill BUT I am also more than happy to come to your home or a location you’ve always wanted some beautiful photos taken at. As always I try and be as transparent as possible so this is my little deal that might appeal. $350 - 45 minutes - 45 images If you are mildly interested or would love to share this with really keen friends then please do so! You can pm me here or on my photography page at The RHP Project - Also you can check out some of my work at rhpproject.com.au/the-gorgeous-herold-family/ One last thing before I go, I have decided to share a very rare photo of me when I was 10 years old wearing my favourite dress that my mum saved up for me to wear to this wedding event. As you can tell I am very excited in this photo, what you can't see is the plate I am wearing in my mouth. I am very grateful that my parents did this for me even though I absolutely hated wearing it. In this photo, you can also I am getting ready to take some AMAZING wedding photos using my KMART film camera for my Aunty Sandra's wedding. The passion to capture the moment has clearly been with me for a very long time

12.01.2022 What is your mini project today? This week? Or weekend? No really, tell me! I want to know. What is it that brings you joy that you haven’t done in a little while? And is it because everyone else’s cups need to be filled and then the laundry, dishes and so on. Let me be the one to break that cycle for you. Enough is enough. Please, I beg you to stop waiting for the right moment, because if you have children then you will know there isn’t going to be one. ... It’s time to be ‘selfish’ and fill your own cup. And yes as a mother of five I get to say this to you because I know you, and I know you matter too!!! Actually if you haven’t noticed, you matter most!!! And without you having some me time, you are going to reach burn out and we all know that just sucks. So let’s put you first for a change. What is it you are going to do for you this week? Can I get a silent promise from you that you are going to give yourself permission to do it?

08.01.2022 In 2010 I was doing my first photography course. They were night classes and I was about 3 weeks in when one night I was chatting to one of my peers while making a cup of tea... and then out of nowhere felt like I was about to vomit. The lady laughed and said maybe you’re pregnant. My heart skipped a beat and I went ghost white with shock that maybe she was right... and that’s how this photo came along. Once we found out we were expecting our second child so soon after o...ur first we knew we would only have one shot!!! I finished my course and with a little extra money from our house sale we shot off overseas when I was 12 weeks pregnant and had the time of our lives. Can you spot my pink jumper? And take a guess where in the world this might be?! So wishing we can go back one day with all five kids Xoxo #photography #travelphotography #europetravel #wherearewe #babylove

07.01.2022 {world breastfeeding week} The world of a mother is silent and yet at the same time overstimulation hits her core daily. It’s physical, it’s watchful, its draining through every single sense of our being, it’s a constant here and now. Motherhood ages women, it shakes marriages, it causes so much self doubt. It breaks you and then puts you back together only in a different together sort of way. It humbles you, it teaches you.... All around the world, in every scenario imaginable there is an exhausted woman cradling a child and she knows, just as you and I do, the truth. This is women’s business and it’s hard and we need each other more than ever. No childhood, no motherhood journey will be the same. It is all raw and unique because underneath all our layers we are all raw and unique and our experiences are all so human how can anyone of us be perfect? It’s beauty and it’s hell, rewards and punishments. One thing that is for sure though is it’s not black and white so give yourself a break. To aim for perfection is the curse of the modern mother. Let 2020 be the year we stop berating, comparing and isolating ourselves. When we know better, we do better. Motherhood is many things but it doesn’t have to be so isolating. It just doesn’t. Be honest with yourself and honour your journey by taking care of you too. Seek out the women who need to meet you and likewise you meet them. Take this as your sign to step out and make a difference, write that new chapter of this journey where you surround yourself with empowering and uplifting women of the world. Be raw and honest. Be present and calm. And please, new and veteran mothers of this toxic social media world, please slow down because the race you are running isn’t a race at all.... it was always meant to be a stroll... we just got a little ahead of ourselves. Motherhood is honourable work and you are worthy. From one mother to another, I give you permission to slow down. #worldbreastfeedingweek #motherhood #motherhoodunplugged #breastfeeding #slowliving #rawmotherhood #honouringmotherhood #motherhoodjourney #womenunite #birth #babies #postpartum #postnatal #postpartumbody #selflove #womenempowerment

06.01.2022 You guys, I did something other than being a mum this yea! A photo I submitted was recognised as worthy enough to make it into the Lord Mayors Photographic Peoples Choice Awards (though it did feature my child so maybe it was through a being mum). This is a photo I took of my 4 year old daughter while she watched the birds playing outside. It was during our homeschooling lockdown period in Brisbane. The world had shut down and the borders were closed. All five of my children... desperately missed their nanna and pop. While us grownups panicked and jobs were lost, the children stayed indoors. Life was strange, far from normal but despite all the chaos, it brought us all together and that something that was missing was now very present. Time. It would mean so much to me and my family if you would take 2 minutes to vote for my submitted photo of Matilda. Voting closes Monday the 26th of October and I have been invited to attend a morning tea with the other finalists early November where the winner will be announced. I am not holding my breath as all the finalist images are fantastic but it would be a nice way to end this crazy year! I will be sure to update you all on the outcome either way! 03.01.2022 When I was four years old, the world shut down. They called it coronavirus and it made lots of people very sick. It was very sad and lots of people died. I stayed home from kindy and played with my mum and dad and brothers a lot. #lmpa2020 #brisbane #brisbanephotography #blackandwhitephotography #girl #isolation #covid19 #homemademask #lifethroughmyeyes

02.01.2022 Six years ago my photography business had taken off. I had 3 children at the time, I was working in kindy’s, shooting weddings and births alongside corporate and family sessions. It was the peak of my little business and I loved it. Then I fell pregnant with Matilda which to this day was the greatest twist in our life’s story. I tried to keep working and doing it all but I was so sick, and I was taking so long to get work finished, it was all too much. Then Felix came along... and I was even sicker than before. My main goals were to get up, vomit, get the kids to school, hold myself together until I got home to vomit again and then rest in between waves of sickness while looking after the two little ones who were not in school yet... for the entire pregnancy (in the end I was medicated to control the vomiting). I have been so lucky though and I am so grateful for my babies. I am also soooo incredibly grateful to those here who have supported my little Xmas mini sessions over the years when I had the energy to do them in between growing our family from 5 to 7. It’s all been so helpful for our not so little family over the years. Moving forward (because look at my baby now!!!). I shall be working for the joy of it. Which means I will be taking on at home story-telling sessions and birth sessions for now. I love mini sessions but I really want to capture something more meaningful for you. So hit me up and be my first of many sessions! Hehe Seriously though... how adorable is he?!?!?! #proudmom #brisbanephotographer #photography #gettingorganized #familyphotographer #joy
