25.01.2022 Maurice Rioli Jr will wear guernsey No. 49 in his debut season of AFL football with Richmond. His famous father Maurice Rioli Sr had two guernsey numbers during his 118-game career at Tigerland No. 17 initially and then No. 27. He wore the No. 49 guernsey throughout his time with WAFL club South Fremantle before moving to Victoria. Richmond’s other pick in the recent 2020 AFL national draft, Queensland ruckman Samson Ryan, has been given the No. 32 guernsey.... Category B rookie ruckman Mate Colina will start his football life as a Tiger in No. 39. Tenacious small forward Jake Aarts, who played 14 games at senior level for Richmond in an impressive debut season of AFL football this year, has moved from No. 39 to No. 16. The full list of Richmond player guernsey numbers for 2021 is: 1. Nick Vlastuin 2. Dylan Grimes 3. Dion Prestia 4. Dustin Martin 5. Jack Ross 6. Patrick Naish 7. Liam Baker 8. Jack Riewoldt 9. 25.01.2022 I’m very proud to be a tiger for life

25.01.2022 Damien Hardwick could cut short his planned extended break and return to Punt Road in time for Richmond’s first post-Christmas training session. The Tigers were set to resume on Thursday, but football boss Tim Livingstone has made the call to delay an official return until next Monday, so the full group can train together. AFL players can train in groups of only 10 from Wednesday until they have a COVID-19 test and return a negative result before the end of this week.... The triple premiership coach announced after Richmond’s Grand Final victory over Geelong in late October that he would enjoy a longer off-season and not be back until maybe February. Senior coaches typically take a backseat early in the pre-season, and the Tigers’ physical performance manager Peter Burge is set to be in charge for the initial stages. Hardwick has transformed Richmond into an AFL juggernaut across the past four seasons, but that’s also made for a taxing period for him. It’s been a pretty full on three-to-four years and we’ve done a hell of a lot of work and had a lot of success along the way, but sometimes you need to step back, he told 3AW at the time. I’m very lucky that I’ve got some terrific assistants. A couple of those guys will move on, but the coaching group and the people I have around me do a large amount of work and the reality is I sit at the top and manage those guys. I’m very confident those guys can step up and fill those roles, because it’s been a tough year professionally and personally. I’ll step back for a little while and won’t come back until maybe February just to give myself a little bit of a break and a bit of breathing room, because I need it at the moment. Most AFL clubs are going to resume on Wednesday or Thursday, after first-to-fourth-year footballers completed a two-week training block from December 7. The delayed return dates owe to the extraordinary COVID-19 circumstances that resulted in a later finish to the season for everyone, including an October 24 Grand Final. The Tigers will have a new-look coaching structure in 2021, with prominent members Justin Leppitsch (break) and Craig McRae (Hawthorn) departing Hardwick’s flag-winning staff. One Richmond player whose status remains unclear is Sydney Stack, who will face a Perth court on Wednesday for alleged COVID-19 self-quarantine breaches. Stack spent the Christmas period behind bars after initially being given permission to return to Western Australia to attend his late grandfather’s funeral. The WA border was again closed to Victorians as of midnight on New Year’s Eve, and Richmond confirmed it won’t have a club representative in court.

24.01.2022 Imagine getting paid to write an article like this.

23.01.2022 Morning Coffee reading sorted.

23.01.2022 Said a few weeks back I expected a big year from sydney Stack next year

23.01.2022 Brodie Grundy in the making.

22.01.2022 Ordered the missus Xmas gift last week, spent $3,495 on a designer handbag and this came in the mail. I don’t know how I’m going to tell her that we’ve been scammed and she won’t be receiving a Christmas present this year. I’ll have to put this next to the 2020 grand final jumper as a reminder so it never happens again.... Be careful out there, it’s a cold world.

22.01.2022 Lunch time sorted

22.01.2022 Unbelievable stuff, how anyone label Richmond as arrogant is beyond me.

22.01.2022 Looking forward to watching Noah Cumberland develop next year, very exciting player. Will Martyn also looks very promising.

22.01.2022 Winning a three-peat is not out of the question. Richmond is already up there with the great Brisbane and Hawthorn teams of the modern era, and a three-peat is possible. Winning a three-peat is not out of the question, in fact the Tigers will be premiership contenders for at least the next three years. But as we know, talent alone doesn’t guarantee success so Trent Cotchin, Damien Hardwick and the leaders need to keep the hunger alive, which is one of the great challenges. It...Continue reading

21.01.2022 It’s time to scrap the imbeciles in power of our great game before it gets ruined. There is no sport in the world that changes its rules as often as the AFL does, leave the game alone.

21.01.2022 Brisbane break our win streak but the calculations remain the same, three more wins to go. Lynch and Soldo were sorely missed tonight.

21.01.2022 West Coast great Peter Sumich has called on Richmond to stick by Sydney Stack, who will spend Christmas in jail for his latest indiscretion. Richmond player Sydney Stack has been filmed punching-on outside a Perth nightclub when he was supposed to be completing two weeks quarantine. Sumich, who coached Stack for two seasons in the West Australian under-18 team, said the Richmond hard nut was a kid who’s done it tough and deserved another chance.... I really rate the kid as a person, Sumich said. He’s not a kid that lies and cheats. He makes mistakes because he’s still learning. Stack, 20, was arrested in Perth on the weekend for an alleged second COVID breach after being involved in a Northbridge punch-up. Stack will spend Christmas behind bars after allegedly breaching COVID-19 self-quarantine orders, which was discovered when police intervened in a Perth street fight. He was remanded in custody to face court again on January 6, the same day Richmond resumes pre-season training. He is already serving a 10-week AFL suspension over a drunken night out on the Gold Coast in September. Personally, I think Richmond has done an outstanding job so far, Sumich said. Sydney has mucked up a couple of times, but along the line there are a lot of players in the history of the game that have mucked up who have got second and third chances and have done it well. This kid is just needing more guidance. He’s still a young kid at heart and he was always going to make some mistakes I’ve said that all along but eventually clicking and learning and maturing. He was with me for two years and he didn’t shy away from saying ‘I’ve made a blue’, he said. He never lied and that to me is a really good trait. And I think that is where Richmond is at. They are working through issues with him and I’ve got no doubt he doesn’t lie to Richmond. He’s upfront but he’s making a few blues at the moment. I’d love Richmond to do that (to stand by him). If they can hold sway and just persist the kid can play. We’ve all seen that. If he got AFL fit, I rate him very highly. He could be a very good player. He’s one of the toughest kids I’ve seen for a long time and he’s got skills on top of that. AFL clubs and broadcasting boss Travis Auld called on players to follow the rules. I’m not sure if we have an official position just yet other than to say it’s important during this time, whether it’s a player, a staff member, a club member or member of our commission, there’s a set of rules you need to abide by, Auld said. They apply to everyone and if you don’t abide by those rules there’ll be consequences, and I think that’s what is occurring at the moment.

21.01.2022 Played like he coaches, results speak for itself. Fan submission from Matthew Rose.

20.01.2022 2021 AFL Fixture

19.01.2022 Richmond v Carlton, Thursday 18th March.

19.01.2022 Looks like Thomson Dow has put on some size over the off season. In my opinion, he’s an ideal player to developed as an Edwards replacement. Liked his debut game, especially given that it was against the West Coast Eagles with a top four spot on the line and he didn’t look too far out of place.... That being said, I’m not sure he gets many of any games next season given he depth of our list.

18.01.2022 Luke English and Fraser Turner have been delisted by the club.

18.01.2022 ESPN's phantom draft. Ideally, we’d take Cox with our first pick, looks very promising. 1. Western Bulldogs - Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (Western Bulldogs Next-Generation Academy - matching Adelaide's bid)...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Ryan Garthwaite’s been in the system four years and hasn’t had very much luck breaking into the side, clocking up nine AFL career games. Obviously Astbury isn’t going to be around forever but I’m not sure Ryan had the attributes to replace a key defender, you’re probably looking towards Ben Miller. I don’t know what position Ryan is battling for and with list sizes potentially reducing again next year, where does he fit in?

17.01.2022 Jayden Short takes home Richmonds best and fairest! Unbelievable season! Jack Dyer Medal - Jayden Short. Jack Titus Medal - Dustin Martin. Maurie Fleming Medal - Nick Vlastuin... Fred Swift Medal - Shai Bolton. KB Medal - K Mcintosh. See more

17.01.2022 Delisted Tiger Derek Eggmolesse-Smith will be considered for a training spot at Punt Road and is eligible to join the Tigers again via the SSP after going through the drafts without a new home. It’ll be interesting to see who else we invite.

16.01.2022 RICHMOND premiership coach Damien Hardwick’snew relationship with a younger staff member is causing growing tensions within the club. It’s understood senior figures have raised concern about the relationship after it was confirmed last month that Hardwick split from wife Danielle, with whom he shares three children. Hardwick has been seen with his new partner, a member of the Tigers’ commercial sales team, on holiday in Queensland and around Melbourne recently....Continue reading

16.01.2022 LIVE DRAFT THREAD. Pick 40: Sampson Ryan (Ruck) Pick 51: Maurice Rioli

15.01.2022 Hot Breakfast chief footy reporter Tom Browne had some mail on a nagging injury problem facing Richmond spearhead Tom Lynch. "He (Lynch) revealed to me post a short scan that he actually had his finger, dislocated finger x-rayed again," Browne said. "This is the issue he had surgery on in July when he was flown up on the private flight at night to Queensland in a bid to rush him into the hub in time for that particular game.... "So he reckons he’s probably got it operated on or looked at again at the end of the season, so I’d say at the very least if Richmond survive past this weekend for another two or three weeks he’s gonna have discomfort with that until the end of the season. "I’ve put it on Richmond, they say he will take on St Kilda, but I must say I’ll keep a very very close eye on it."

15.01.2022 Richmond supporter, how good Ruckman take about 5 years to develop, not a bad idea to recruit this bloke now. I’d say the club picked him for a reason, 206cm blokes don’t grow on trees.

15.01.2022 So sad to see this bloke leave.

14.01.2022 Richmond's Sydney Stack has been granted bail and was released from a West Australian jail on Friday for the first time since mid-December. A Perth judge granted Stack bail and he will face court again on January 20, ending his three-week stint in prison. Stack's lawyer, Tom Percy, QC, said it might take some time before the court issued a final verdict on the matter.... "I think the court was of a view that at the end of the day, when he is finally dealt with, if he is convicted, that it wasn't inevitable that he'd be imprisoned," Mr Percy told reporters. "I understand it has been a difficult time for him but hopefully he can get over that and move ahead. "I imagine he'd be very relieved. "Being in custody over the Christmas period for the first time is a bewildering experience for anyone." Stack's manager, Paul Peos, told reporters that he would speak to his client first before sharing details on a possible return to Melbourne and Richmond's pre-season training, which begins on Monday. "He [Sydney] will be very pleased," Peos said. "It's been very hard, I haven't been able to get much communication with him in the last couple of days. "They [Richmond] have been very supportive throughout this process, they just wanted to see him out." Richmond have been providing support to Stack although they have not been able to have a representative in court because of WA's border restrictions.

14.01.2022 Ryan Garthwaite and Ben Miller will remain at Richmond for the 2021 season. Unfortunately, Derek Eggmolesse-Smith will not be offered a contract for 2021 which is surprising we you’d imagine he was next in line to replace Houli. Does that mean they’re investing in Sydney Stack as a defender?

14.01.2022 Dual premiership ruckman Toby Nankervis says Rowan Marshall remains a huge challenge for him to overcome in Friday night's second semi-final even though the emerging Saint will take the field without the support of injured ruckman Paddy Ryder. The Saints thrashed Richmond in round four when Marshall played as a solo ruckman against Richmond but the Tigers' big man was among his team's best, earning five coaches' votes for his performance. When asked what he thought when he sa...w Ryder was unavailable, and whether it might make his task any easier, he spoke with great respect for his upcoming opponents. "They gave us a lesson earlier in the year," Nankervis said. "Ryder, who is a fantastic player, is out and Rowan Marshall, he's a great ruckman and he has had two or three years of elite standard of footy, so he will be no doubt a tough challenge as well. I have so much respect for the way he goes about it. "You never want to see anyone get injured." It sets up an intriguing battle, however, and Nankervis admitted his experience rucking on his own in big games was helpful as he headed into the clash, knowing he could stand up physically and mentally to the demands. "I do take a lot of confidence knowing that I am able to do it and have been able to do it in big games before," Nankervis said. He has now played in 10 finals and been part of the losing team just twice, with Friday a rare feeling for the former Swan who has played in 21 losses in 79 games. He praised the Lions for the win but admitted the Tigers' propensity to give away crucial free kicks and 50-metre penalties did not help their cause, with the 15-point margin mainly due to such mistakes. "We spoke about our discipline, which we addressed during the week," Nankervis said. "It was disappointing, on reflection. There are a lot of things we can get better at and we can improve, which we are excited about." Whether the Tigers retain Mabior Chol remains to be seen, with the mobile big man likely to make way for the returning Tom Lynch. Nankervis is uncertain which way the selectors will go and how much support he will have now that last year's premiership rucking partner Ivan Soldo is recovering from a knee reconstruction and Callum Coleman-Jones has missed his chance after he breached AFL protocols a month ago and was sent home. "I'm not too fazed either way to be honest," Nankervis said. "I just enjoying getting out there and competing. Whether I am first ruck or not my role doesn't change too much." He has played just eight games this season after an ankle injury sidelined him but he feels as though his form is slowly improving. He knows what it's like to return from injury and perform in big finals, having recovered from a groin injury in 2019 to earn a recall after a brilliant performance in a VFL final. Source - the age

14.01.2022 Tigers facing greatest challenge since they were kings. Richmond wasn't far from beating the Brisbane Lions in a game that was played with the most intensity of any yet this season, possibly excepting the Port Adelaide-Richmond game in Adelaide. The Tigers closed to within eight points with more than sufficient time left. Had Shai Bolton's astonishing Daicos dribbler not found the edge of the post - as detected by a pedantic snicko - then they would have reached that deficit ...Continue reading

13.01.2022 Bigoa Nyuon was the quickest National combine speed with 20m in 2.85seconds from his draft year. Richmond have seven Ruckmen listed but have recruited these players with alternative motives in mind. Bigoa has a brilliant leap, beautiful kick and can run and carry the ball off half back to set up players further up the ground.... It will be interesting to see whether he gets a few games this season with our backline being one of the hardest positions to break into but he’ll be an exciting prospect to look forward to. Do you think he’ll get an opportunity to play a few games this season?

13.01.2022 Richmond’s football talent manager Blair Hartley insists both Oleg Markov and Jack Higgins departed Tigerland with the blessing of the club. Markov left the reigning premiers for the Gold Coast Suns while Higgins joined St Kilda in the trade period. Hartley explained how both deals came about and says while the Tigers are sad to see them go, they respect the wishes of the two players to chase stronger playing opportunities elsewhere.... It’s not just something that happens over two weeks, a player moving clubs, Hartley said on SEN’s Dwayne’s World. It’s difficult given how connected our group is to let some of our players go. In particular, someone like Oleg Markov who’s been with us for five years and pours his heart and soul in but found himself out of the team. We can’t deny him those opportunities to go so it’s just about working with his manager Marty Pask to facilitate a trade to the Gold Coast. We wish him all the best. The Higgins move was not as expected as Markov’s exit given that he was a contracted player. However, Hartley says once the wheels were set in motion, it was a deal that could easily be facilitated. Jack was probably a little bit different, he added. He’s been through a rough 18 months. To be honest he did remarkably well to come back and play this year. Unfortunately Jack found himself out of the side in the back-half of the year. Through his management, Paul Connors and Robbie D’Orazio, we discussed the option of looking for some opportunity elsewhere which resulted in him requesting a trade to St Kilda. It’s always difficult when a player is contracted but we feel we worked the one to a point where a mutually beneficial trade was struck. We wish Jack all the best. Hartley admits that the Tigers could have pushed hard to hold Higgins to his contract, but the human side of things was more important. Jack found himself out of the side and he was looking at his opportunities at Richmond and weighed them up, he said further. It’s easier to just put the club hat on and fight hard for what we want. We could have forced Jack to stay against his will in the end. We got to a point where we were able to facilitate a trade with St Kilda that we felt like was fair for both parties. It allows Jack to move on with his career. In exchange for Higgins, Richmond received pick 17 and a future second-round selection while the Saints landed the 43-game small forward, pick 21 and a future fourth. The Markov deal was more straightforward with the Tigers receiving a future third-round selection from the Suns for the 24-year-old defender who played 24 games in the yellow and black.

12.01.2022 Maurice Rioli Jr is all but set to pull on a yellow and black jumper with the young forward officially nominating Richmond as his preferred destination. According to an article written by Jordan McArdle in the NT News, paperwork for Rioli has already been officially lodged with the AFL. Rival clubs can still bid on the Territory youngster, but the Tigers will have the option to match those bids and have first access at selecting him.

12.01.2022 Maurice remembers his dad teaching him how to fish. And shoot. But he can't really remember his dad teaching him how to play footy. This isn't surprising. You don't get taught to play football on the Tiwi Islands. Not when you are a Rioli. Not when your dad is Maurice Rioli. Maurice snr didn't play football like he had been taught; he felt the game. Kicking the ball was not a motor skill, it was an expression. Maurice jnr has some of his dad's intuitive understanding. That is...Continue reading

12.01.2022 Marlion Pickett is set to ink a new two year deal in the coming days to elevate him off the rookie list. This article shows the kind of person Marlion is, worth the read. They are the random acts of kindness that sum up Marlion Pickett's attitude towards life. Pickett is a dual premiership player after just 20 AFL games, with Saturday night's grand final win for Richmond yet another chapter in his scarcely believable tale of redemption and emergence. 11.01.2022 Merry Christmas you filthy animals

11.01.2022 The boys are back in town

11.01.2022 Pubs are open, LEETTSS GOOO!

11.01.2022 As surprising as it was for our players to get sucked in, it’s almost a blessing to have learned our lesson with the second chance up our sleeve, rather than a preliminary final. This weeks team selection is going to be interesting, I would love to see Jack Ross get some finals experience, especially after missing both grand finals last year.

11.01.2022 Welcome home, Maurice Rioli

10.01.2022 Had high hopes for Callum Moore when we drafted him, always sad to see ex Richmond players get delisted from other clubs. Hopefully Towner and Moore get picked up in the draft as a rookie somewhere.

10.01.2022 Richmond star Jayden Short has been cleared of any wrongdoing after bizarre footage of him interacting with a fan following the AFL grand final sent tongues wagging on social media. During the Tigers’ victory lap at the Gabba following their 31-point victory against Geelong on Saturday, a fan leant over the fence and tried to give Short what looked like a small package. The defender initially rejected the gift but following the Richmond fan’s insistence, Short accepted and tu...cked it into his socks. It has since been confirmed the gift was a special gold and black watch from watchmaker Daniel Haas. Geelong-raised businessman Haas recently moved to Queensland and started a watch-making business, and was keen for Short to promote his product during post-match celebrations. Richmond star Jayden Short has been cleared of any wrongdoing after bizarre footage of him interacting with a fan following the AFL grand final sent tongues wagging on social media. Haas told News Corp on Monday it was his son who ensured 24-year-old Short accepted the watch. It was just a gesture and I am so humbled that he accepted the watch to begin with, Haas said. It’s a gold and black watch, my favourite of the watches I sell. He came over and I thought he was nearly going to get the Norm Smith and I said to him, this is from my collection and my son wants to give it to you. He didn’t want to take it but when he saw it was from my son, he said, ‘Thank you very much’. I have been a Tiger fan all my life, I am very lucky we moved to Queensland and our cases are down compared to Victoria but I managed to get grand final tickets and it was an unreal experience. To take my son and best mate to the game was so good, especially over the team where I grew up in Geelong. I was always copping flak from Geelong supporters. For him to come back and give me a big handshake was so good. In April last year, Haas started his online business which he called Wilder Haas Watches. To be wearing one after the game and be able to pass it on to Jayden, I was lost for words, he said. Short finished second in the Norm Smith Medal voting and he should have received an addition two votes, with Leigh Matthews admitting he accidentally put down the wrong name.

10.01.2022 All I want for Christmas is Richmond to draft a key forward.

10.01.2022 Jake Carlisle has confirmed he has departed St Kilda's hub to be with his heavily pregnant partner. Pretty big out for the Saints. How you feeling about the match up?... In my opinion, the only team that beats Richmond is themselves, tidy up the 50’s and we should be right.

10.01.2022 Jack Higgins is officially at the Saints. Richmond receive pick 17, future 2nd St Kilda receive Jack Higgins, pick 21, future 4th. What’s your thoughts on the trade?... Shocking in my opinion, expected more

10.01.2022 Dangerfield isn’t equiped to tie Dustin Martin’s shoelaces.

10.01.2022 Richmond will kick-off the 2021 AFL home-and-away competition on March 18. Unfurl the 2019 premiership flag round one in front of Carlton, then unfurl the 2020 flag round two against Collingwood

09.01.2022 We may have lost a few depth players this season but I can’t believe to state how stoked I am to keep this bloke. #tigerforlife

09.01.2022 I posted footage a few days back of Balta as a backup ruckman as I thought the loss of Soldo would be felt more than we expected. I genuinely believe that we bring in Broad as a defender and play Balta as a backup ruckman, resting forward / wing. Chol will be a brilliant player one day if he can manage to pull off a lot of his almost moments but for now, I don’t think we can continue to carry him in finals.... If Balta doesn’t get moved up the ground, miller has to be trailed, there’s no more second chances and nank needs help.

09.01.2022 Sydney Stack and Callum Coleman-Jones returned to Richmond training today and begin a 2021 campaign to win back the trust of the football world. Club CEO Brendon Gale has full confidence both players will earn back the respect of their teammates and the community. They returned today to training which commenced for first to fourth year players, Gale told SEN’s Bob and Andy.... We had a bunch of young fellas down there, but look there’s a lot of interest in those two lads for obvious reasons, we don’t need to go back over that, but they’ve been held accountable, they’ve paid a heavy price for their mistakes. At the end of the day, they’re fine young men, they’re our men, they’re Tigers and we’ll put our arm around them and we’ll support them and love them and help them reload. They’re both extremely talented players, each in their own way and arguably they might have missed a chance to play in a premiership, who knows. They’ve paid a heavy price, they’re important players and they’ll put their head down and we’ll help them win back the respect of the group and the community and they will because they’re fine men.

09.01.2022 Since Callum Coleman-Jones was given a ten match suspension, Richmond has played two home and away and four finals matches meaning Callum and Sydney will be available for selection in the AFL team by round five, 2021. Seeing as Soldo will be missing for the majority if not entire 2021, does Callum Coleman-Jones break his way into the side or will we select Mabior Chol? I’d really like to see how Callum fairs as a forward, especially as we have no one to replace Jack Riewoldt.

08.01.2022 Will Martyn captained the Brisbane’s Academy side in 2019 to a premiership and won the team’s most valuable player award. A ball magnet through the midfield who has the flexibility to play inside and outside roles with plenty of endurance with fierce competitiveness, hard-running, clean hands and neat foot skills. Was listed as emergency a few times throughout the year and huge wraps from Xavier Clarke.... I think he could be competing along side Jack Ross for the same position in the senior squad. How many games do you see Will playing in 2021?

08.01.2022 Our last four years have been impeccable. I’m confident we’ll bounce back next week and challenge for a flag, I think we all just want this flag so much to be positioned amongst the dynasty’s but in reality we already are. One of our followers, Mitch Lowe sent in four year block stats of the dynasty clubs, no surprises that we’re amongst them.... Richmond 17’-20’ (4 years - ? GF’s - ? Flags) 68-23-1 (73.9% wins) (12-5-1 in 2020) Brisbane 01’-04’ (4 years - 4 GF’s - 3 Flags) 75-24-1 (75% wins) Hawthorn 12’-15’ (4 years - 4 GF’s - 3 Flags) 80-21-0 (79.2% wins) Geelong 07’-11’ (5 years - 4 GF’s - 3 Flags) 83-17-0 (83% wins) 105-20-0 (84% wins) Glass half full, better a loss this week than another preliminary final.

08.01.2022 This bloke is going to be a star.

07.01.2022 Richmond player Sydney Stack charged with breaching COVID-19 travel quarantine in Western Australia. WA Police say the 20-year-old was granted approval to enter WA from South Australia on compassionate grounds, and arrived on Thursday. He was ordered to self-quarantine for 14 days at an address in Northam. However, it's alleged he was found in Northbridge in the early hours of Saturday morning. It's also alleged he was staying at a house in Belmont.

06.01.2022 Richmond vice-captain Jack Riewoldt is adamant coach Damien Hardwick’s marriage breakdown won’t impact the Tigers’ chances of a flag three-peat. Hardwick’s separation from wife Danielle, who he repeatedly and affectionately referred to as Mrs Hardwick during his many media conferences, has made significant headlines over the summer. The triple premiership coach, who has three children from his former relationship, is now in a relationship with club staffer Alexandra Crow, w...Continue reading

06.01.2022 Richmond has invited four players to train with the Club during the pre-season with a view to potentially recruiting a couple of them through the AFL’s Supplementary Selection Period. West Adelaide midfielder Nicholas Couroupis, Woodville-West Torrens defender Rhyan Mansell, Canberra utility player Joshua Green and delisted Tiger Derek Eggmolesse-Smith will vie for the available places on Richmond’s playing list. Couroupis is a hard-nosed, inside midfielder, renowned for his ...strong defensive work-rate, explosiveness from the contest and good aerial ability. He played reserve-grade football with West Adelaide in season 2020. Nic Couroupis Mansell, a speedy, skilful, tough, rebounding defender, played in three consecutive senior premierships with Tasmanian club Launceston, as a 17, 18 and 19-year-old, before joining SANFL club Woodville-West Torrens this year. He had 19 disposals and took eight marks in the Eagles’ 2020 grand final victory over North Adelaide. Rhyan Mansell Green, the younger brother of rising Greater Western Sydney star midfielder Tom, and grandson of four-time Richmond premiership great, Michael Green, also was a member of the Giants academy, but was overlooked by them in the recent AFL drafts. He is a strongly-built (192cm, 87kg) player, who can be used in a variety of on-field roles, including key positions. Joshua Green Eggmolesse-Smith played eight senior games for the Tigers in three seasons at the Club. He produced a superb performance across half-back this year in the Round clash with North Melbourne at Metricon Stadium that earned him two Brownlow Medal votes. AFL clubs can utilise the Supplementary Selection Period, which runs from January 6 to March 9, to select a previously delisted player or overlooked draft hopeful to fill available spots on their rookie list. If clubs decide not to sign players during this period, they have the option of using a pick (or picks) in the 2021 mid-season draft.

06.01.2022 Jack Higgins has accepted a deal at another Victorian club according to Sen. Absolutely devastated!

05.01.2022 Sydney Stack and Callum Coleman-Jones will return to training at Richmond in early December with the club set to embrace the pair as they attempt to put the hub indiscretion that led to them being sent home from Queensland in September behind them. The Tigers confirmed that both players would begin their pre-season when most first and fourth year players from other clubs return, with the pair understood to be keen to work hard on the track as they take their first steps towar...Continue reading

05.01.2022 Dion Prestia is better than Lachie Neale, change my mind.

04.01.2022 Here you have a generational ruckmen, with elusive ruckwork and connection with his midfielders that creates more pure opportunity for scores than any of his contemporaries, and his presence influences stoppage situations like few others and then there’s Nic Naitanui. #premiershipruckman

04.01.2022 Baffled we didn’t select Jackson Callow at pick 53.

04.01.2022 Solid episode this.

03.01.2022 Trading our first round pick with Geelong’s first round next year is probably a win if you factor in that barely any footy has been played this year. The other factor is that we traded pick 20 this year and next year I believe that father sons and academy bids can only be placed outside the top twenty which would therefore mean pick 18 would be the latest pick we’d receive from Geelong (let’s hope they miss the eight). Six picks within the first three rounds next year, given ...that we don’t really need any positions filled immediately we’re absolutely in a brilliant place. Selecting a ruckman at pick 40. Initially, I was a little perplexed given that we could lay claims to having five ruckman on our list but how many of them are genuine a ruckman? Two, which one of the two will miss the entire season next year (Soldo, ACL). Samson is another Brisbane Lions academy player, which we took Noah Cumberland and Will Martyn from last season. Reading about his traits, a lot of similarities to Soldo, solid in the ruck but is very good on ground level and through traffic and likes to float back to intercept. Ruckman taken at least five years to develop, there’s a reason we’ve selected Samson and to top it off he’s a Richmond fan (the last Richmond supporter we passed on drafting was Nat Fyfe, just saying). So do we opt to develop Coleman Jones as a forward rather than a Ruck Forward? Where does Ben Miller and Mabior Chol fit into the picture? Maurice Rioli at pick 51. Really good result for the club, I was worried Essendon would force our hand to use our first round pick. Rookie draft. Was surprised we didn’t grab JAckson Callow without pick 53, ideally grabbing him in the rookie draft would be a steal. 194cm forward from tassie, that weighs 101kgs as an 18 year old. AFL ready.

03.01.2022 Does incorrect disposal not apply to Brisbane?

03.01.2022 Brendon Gale is expecting the rest of the competition to come at Richmond next season. The Tigers remarkably pulled off a third premiership in four years by claiming the 2020 flag against all odds after spending over 100 days in a hub on the Gold Coast. While they were not the only club to be in such a situation, they were indeed the only club left standing after beating Geelong in the first night Grand Final at the Gabba in late October.... With that 13th trophy now safely locked away at Punt Road, the Tigers look ahead to 2021 where a third straight premiership beckons, but not without the desire to keep improving and to continue breeding a winning culture. Asked on SEN’s Bob and Andy if there is a lack of a challenge for Richmond heading into a new year, club CEO Gale said: No, not at all. It’s been a long time between drinks for the Tigers. We’ve climbed the top of the mountain, but we’re enjoying the view. But also, the system, or the AFL community, almost breeds this inherent sense of insecurity. They’re just always coming at you from everywhere. You’ve got to be at the top of your game, you’ve got to be sharpening the saw, you’ve got to be finding ways to improve and compete in what is a continuous, infinite game. We’ll be as focused, determined and as hungry as ever, because if not, they’re coming for us. One way of improving is by selecting quality youngsters in the National Draft, which takes place this Wednesday night. Gale says as the club’s CEO, he is not privy to too many discussions on draft plans, leaving that side of things to the recruiting department. There’s people much more intelligent than me in those matters, he added. Blair Hartley and his team, Francis Jackson a few years ago. It just highlights the importance of those roles. They’ve got their fingerprints all over the last three premierships. They’ll put in the time and effort and the preparation, they’ll make some good decisions. We’ve got young Maurice Rioli Junior, who has nominated as a father-son selection, so that will be interesting to see how that falls. The Tigers hold picks 17, 36, 61, 79, 96, 108 in the 2020 National Draft.

03.01.2022 Port Adelaide v Richmond Preliminary Final Nankervis The Great.

03.01.2022 Morning coffee reading sorted.

03.01.2022 What is Mabior Chol's best position? As a forward i can never understand why he doesnt utilise his pace to his advantage and mark the ball on the lead, rather than wrestle. If you look at the position which Chol has had the most impact, it is without a doubt through the middle of the ground, weaving through traffic. ... As crazy as it sounds, i reckon we should develop him as a wingman.

03.01.2022 Richmond footballer Sydney Stack will remain behind bars until at least January 23 after he made a brief appearance in Perth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday accused of breaching WA’s COVID-19 quarantine requirements. As the Tigers near their return to the training field on Monday, the 20-year-old remains in jail, having already spent Christmas and New Years inside Hakea Prison. Stack remained straight-faced throughout his brief video appearance on Wednesday, uttering only o...ne word. Yep, he said when asked by the magistrate if he understood what was being said in court. He will next front court on January 23.

03.01.2022 Lions lead by 13 at halftime. We’ve seriously got to stop giving away goals and conceding on the quarter break. These umpires are beyond a joke. Can Brisbane stick with us for four quarters?

03.01.2022 Richmond knocked back a future second round pick from the Saints for Jack Higgins. Finally we request a decent trade for one of our players. Jack Higgins was a first round pick for us, what do you expect is fair value to Jack Higgins? ... I’d say a future second and third probably gets it done.

02.01.2022 He’s got one foot inside the door already.

02.01.2022 Christmas came early

02.01.2022 Jake Aarts 2020 highlights. Looking forward to watching Jake Aarts develop next season, do you think he will be in our best 22?

01.01.2022 Is there actually a point where the rule makers are content with the game?

01.01.2022 Really looking forward to the development of Coleman Jones this season, especially with the absence of Soldo. Very promising prospect in our forward line as Jack Riewoldt comes to the end of his career.

01.01.2022 Next Sunday I’ll be streaming the grand final, I’m open to suggestions for the weeks afterward. List some games below.

01.01.2022 Josh Caddy has found himself in and out of the side through form and injury but this year the depth of Richmond’s list could be his biggest challenge. So the question is where does Caddy fit into our best 22? You would imagine he’s battling against Marlion Pickett & Kamdyn McIntosh which both seem to have him covered and the likes of Jack Ross or Riley Collier-Dawkins will be pushing their case should injuries occur.... What’s your thoughts?

01.01.2022 Our clearance game during the last two matches has been nothing short of brilliance. Adam Kingsley is a genius.

01.01.2022 A lot of mixed emotions about the removal of the Jack Dyer stand but given we’re expanding our facilities, rather than expand to an 8,000 capacity stadium, why not expand to 15,000? Increase the audience at the VFL marches at Punt Road before an AFL match at the MCG. #dustinmartinstand #mathewrichardsonstand
