25.01.2022 The start of school holidays means the start of nut filled snacks here. I made these Weet-bix fruit balls today, inspired by mykidslickthebowl who make an apricot slice. Feel free to mix up the dried fruit to your liking. 4 x Weet-bix broken in half... 1 cup of cashews 1/2 cup of dried dates 1/2 cup of dried blueberries 3 Tbsp of water 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut to roll the balls in Mix all ingredients on speed 5 till you can hear a change in the noise from cutting the nuts to binding the mixture. Roll mixture into balls and then cover in the coconut. If you are using Medjool dates - you may need to reduce the water.
24.01.2022 Have you checked out the Pre Clean update on the TM6 yet ? Make sure you read all the different options and choose the appropriate cycle and the water and soap requirements. The Browning - pre clean does not require soap just vinegar and water UP TO 1Ltr only - otherwise it will bubble over.

20.01.2022 Sooooooo excited - my Mother sourdough starter that I’ve been tending to for a week is now finally good to go. So I decided to try Cookidoo’s Sourdough Fruit and Nut loaf today. It did take some time as my house was pretty cold today but it was delicious- even the kids agreed. I followed the guide below to get the starter going as well as watched Thermomix Australia’s Facebook lives on sourdough. I just used bakers flour with a bit of wholemeal flour that I milled myself f...rom wheat grains. https://www.theclevercarrot.com//beginner-sourdough-start/ Fruit and nut loaf https://cookidoo.com.au/recipes/recipe/en-AU/r614419

10.01.2022 Chicken Kievs- soooo good and so easy. I don’t know why I was so hesitant to give it a crack. I had herb and garlic butter in the freezer already for garlic bread. Just wrapped the minced chicken around it and crumbed it and cooked it. I will be doing it again for sure. 07.01.2022 Waste not want not- I love minimising my waste. I just joined the Aussie Gardener Facebook group for tips on improving my garden and found out when I watched the carrot video, that you can eat carrot tops which are actually more nutritious than the carrot itself. I plucked 2 carrots out of the garden (which the kids ate) and then used the carrot tops in some pesto to have on my toasted sourdough.... To make the pesto I just blitzed: the carrot tops, a bunch of sorrel, the tips off my Thai Basil, juice from 1 lemon, 2 garlic cloves, a splash of olive oil, some salt and pepper, 2 Tbsp of pine nuts and 1/4 cup of cashews and the left over ricotta that I made yesterday (about 1 cup) I just chopped all the ingredients except the ricotta on speed 5 initially then turned up the speed to blend it up more. I needed to keep stopping and scraping down the sides when I heard the blade free spinning. I just continued until I was happy with the consistancy, I then added the ricotta and mixed through for a few more seconds. Here is the link to the Aussie garden page if you are interested - I actually did a photography course with Brian - great bloke. https://www.facebook.com/groups/aussiegardener/?ref=share

05.01.2022 Who says a smashed avo is only for breakfast? Yesterday I also made the Everyday Sourdough loaf, so last night; I boiled some Medium soft eggs using the new Egg Boiler mode, made a half batch of ricotta and raided the garden. Some of the snow pea pods were getting a bit old so I just used their peas. Delicious. This recipe uses a lot of the Mother Starter- so I’m now building the started back up. ... 01.01.2022 New TM6 Pre-Clean mode explained.
01.01.2022 & . I made the Aussie meat pies from Cookidoo last night- which were absolutely delicious. I used mince instead of steak because we like the finer texture and of course I pulverised the mushrooms first so that they were undiscoverable by the Kids, which just became part of the sauce. I also added a smidge if rosemary. ... I cheated and used store bought puff pastry in my Kmart pie maker to make it quicker and the mix made 9 of these little beauties. The meat although delicious- did make a bit of a mess of the bowl, maybe because I used mince instead??? but that was not a biggie. The steps to clean it were as follows: -Put in 1 ltr of warm water and a drop of detergent and put on pre clean mode to loosen the gunk on the bottom. -I then went a few rounds with the green brush to get most of the loose stuff up. -took the blades out and used a Euro Scrubbie which lifted most of the left over gunk up. - I then used a bit of gumption on a wet cloth to get rid of the last bit of residue and get the bowl back to shiny, shiny. -then just popped it in the dishwasher. It only took a few mins - was not that hard at all. Please don’t use steel wool - as this may scratch the natural protective coating on the stainless steel which prevents surface rust. Gumption is Thermomix approved and Euro scrubbies are awesome and available in the Mix Shop along with the green brushes.
