15.01.2022 What is up peoples! This weeks wave destination is a remote place in Norways Lofoten Islands called Unstad. This little surf village has a population of 15 people and is 100 miles above the Artic Circle. With its ragged coastline and freezing cold water be sure to take the full set up! Booties, gloves and a 5mm wetsuit. The most magical characteristic of this place is that you can surf underneath the northern lights from September through to April. 12.01.2022 How to be a minimalistic camper..... Last weekend I had an awesome adventure camping solo for the first time. There is no better way than to kick back and relax by the fire whilst gazing up at the stars I also made it my weekend mission to take as little as possible which made life so much easier! Here are a few ways in which i reduced my plastic waste and cut back on unnecessary items:... - collect your own fire wood (this saves on plastic wrapping and packaging) - Potatoes and baked beans were my dinner menu ( nice and filling and very minimal plastic; unfortunately the tin can has plastic in the labelling) - Bring your own eating/cooking utensils - Take water from home in reusable bottles - Take all recyclables back with you so you can dispose correctly. We cannot escape the use of plastic, this is inevitable, but we can reduce our single use plastic impact on our planet if we allow some simple easy steps into our daily lives. Give it a go! 09.01.2022 I have been extremely fortunate to call the sunshine coast home for the past 7 months now. The friendliness and easy going-ness of the people that live here really makes one feel so at home, and to top it off the beaches are absolutely beautiful and kept pristine. If you have the opportunity today to walk your local beach, take a moment to look around and pick up any litter if there is any. Most of the time there is a bin close by to chuck it in (Very ironic to have so many... bins yet people still litter!). I am sure our sea life friends would thank us if they could. That one cigarette butt or plastic straw that is kept out of the ocean could be saving a marine species life. #TheRootedSoulSearcher #Oceans

I thought I would mix up Tuesdays posts for the next couple of weeks and post a few under the radar surf breaks around the world This weeks wave choice is Pichilemu in Chiles surf capitol. An iconic left hander point break called Punta de Lobos. It is the birth place of surfing in Chile and was nominated as the 7th World Surfing Reserve by The Waves Coalition in 2013. Surrounded by fine grey sand, 50 meter cliffs and swell that can reach 20 feet high, this wave ...would be a magical yet deadly beast all in one. Chile overall is a beautiful country which for the most part still seems untouched and abundant in natural beauty. Carry your own take away containers.... 3. Say no to sodas and soft drinks Super unhealthy for you and your doing no good for the planet either! 4. Give up bottled water! Take your own drink bottle with you everywhere you go. 5. 04.01.2022 A cool little tip I learnt this week was that I can buy bread from my local bakery, fresh/sliced and ready to go in either a paper bag or in your own. 5 families who go through a loaf or more per week could reduce their environmental impact by 300 plastic bags or more per year! And all that takes is to buy bread from your local baker, you probably go there anyways! A few more neat tricks to help lead us to a plastic free life: > Choose your grains, seeds and nuts from the bu...lk bins at your markets / supermarket > Use coconut oil for cooking, it comes in glass and the glass then becomes an awesome drinking glass! > Try out natural bees wax wraps over clingfilm. 04.01.2022 One of my favourite places in the world is Lahinch in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland. This amazing place is suited for surfers of all experience levels. Beginners can access the main beach 2 hours either side of high tide with waves breaking left and right while the more experienced can choose to head out to one of the three left hander reef breaks; Cornish, Outer Cornish and Cregg. Autumn through till early winter will be when you see the bigger swell come throug...h, but if youre happy for a little sunshine and smaller waves the summer is a great time to visit! If you are ever in the area be sure to see Ben at Bens surf clinic, super friendly guy and always happy to help with any questions of the local break. 04.01.2022 This is Joffre Lakes in Canada, one of the most beautiful places I have travelled to. The alpine forests are lush green and abundant with wild life. I found the west coast of Canada to be so pristine and clean, with the crisp icy mountain air really opening up your lungs, it truly remains naturally beautiful. I have been so fortunate to travel parts of the world and experience nature in its true form, which is why I find it so important to help preserve our Mother Earth and all that is within. All it takes is for us to join together and do our part.
