25.01.2022 Despite the late afternoon downpour, an audience of around 150 turned up at the Band Hall on Sunday evening for some excellent music and songs by a 10 member contingent of the Newcastle Army Band. Rotary Clubs of Gunnedah and Gunnedah West hosted and fed the crowd, who, judging by the applause, were very appreciative. The band is a mix of regulars and reservists, many of whom have served on overseas duty. The free concert was the band's way of demonstrating support to drought affected communities of the north west. After Gunnedah, the band headed to Inverell, Warialda and the northern tablelands.

24.01.2022 Last week we had the pleasure of hosting the President of the Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce, Juliana McArthur as our guest. Juliana provided an interesting insight into the challenges, but also the potential opportunities that business in rural areas have as a consequence of the Covid 19 pandemic. Whilst acknowledging there are clear national challenges, she spoke in positive terms of local developments on the horizon that will create local jobs as well as the promotional work of Namoi Unlimited to increase local procurement. Thank Juliana for being our guest.

21.01.2022 Community Project at Ken Green Park Last week members of the Rotary Club of Gunnedah held a working bee to build a slab to place a picnic table and chairs in Ken Green Park. After successful measuring and digging on Thursday, the slab was completed on Saturday. A great team effort with lots of enthusiasm for a project which will be enjoyed by the community.

21.01.2022 At our meeting on Monday night, our special guest was District Governor Debbie Loveday, who gave an interesting presentation on the latest initiatives in growing Rotary's membership, and the great opportunities that are available to Rotarians through district, national and international networks, projects, conferences and friendship tours. Such opportunities enhance personal and professional development and create lasting friendships. There are over 35,000 clubs around the world and more than 1.2 million members. Debbie also inducted 2 new members, Peter and Juliana McArthur, into the club. Welcome Peter and Juliana to the Rotary family.
20.01.2022 Two Mondays ago ..... we welcomed District 9650 Governor Phil Hafey and wife, Bronwyn, to our meeting to get an update on district and international Rotary affairs. The visit also coincided with our Hat Night to "Lift the Lid" on mental health and raise funds for the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund's vital programs on understanding and treatment of a range of mental health conditions. In the weeks prior, as part of this effort, we had conducted a raffle which raised almost $1000 for the fund. It was an informative and enjoyable evening.
20.01.2022 Thankyou to all our supporters in our recent Mothers Day Raffle. Congrats to our winners.
19.01.2022 It’s that time of year where we start selling tickets in our Christmas Raffle. Shout out to these 3 Rotarians who braved the sun and heat today to sell raffle tickets at our local Gunnedah markets.

18.01.2022 Rotary Interclub Get Together. Last night around 50 Rotarians and friends from Boggabri, Narrabri and Gunnedah met for dinner and conviviality at Baan Baa Hotel. Updates on Rotary activities were shared, yarns told, some of a truthful nature, news swapped, and transgressions fined, and we listened to an excellent talk by Narrabri Rotarian and former Western Region Assistant Police Commissioner, Steve Bradshaw, on his policing memories. Funds raised went to the Baan Baa War Memorial committee. A great night, thanks to Boggabri Rotary and their president, Malcolm Donaldson. Photo shows Steve giving his address.

11.01.2022 Rotary Youth Exchange programs don't just allow you to travel overseas to a foreign country, they also empower you to develop as a person, grow new skills and break out of your shell. This week we heard from Angela Dillon who was lucky enough to go on a Rotary Youth Exchange to Brazil in 2019. This trip was more than just an amazing experience for Angela. This trip has changed her life and developed untold confidence as an individual. The Rotary Club of Gunnedah is proud of ...you Angela and we are all excited to have you as part of the Rotary Family. Pictured here is Rotarian Wendy Marsh, exchange student Angela Dillon and President Don Ewing.

08.01.2022 Rotarians pass the taste success. On Friday evening, Gunnedah club Rotarians joined other clubs in Gunnedah and Boggabri for a Zoom hosted wine tasting evening to gather some funds for Australian Rotary Health's mental health research and awareness projects. Guest sommelier for the night was Adam Walls zooming in from the Hunter Valley to guide us through half a dozen fine wines. Although the wines were still, it was a bubbly evening with great food and company. Thanks to hosts, Don and Desley, for the venue.

06.01.2022 A small but special collaborative project from all the local Rotary Clubs to reach out to our local Gunnedah Year 12 school leavers. 2020 has been a year like no other, so to be able to give a small but meaningful message to these wonderful students was so worthwhile.
06.01.2022 Fundraising for Rotary's Mental Health programs. Our most recent fundraising raffle, a weekend for two at Mudgee's Peppertree Hill Luxury Estate, was drawn recently. 05.01.2022 On Monday night our guest speaker was Dominic Goodwin-Hauck. Dominic was the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) attendee for 2020 which took place at Lake Keepit in August. RYLA is an intensive leadership and personal development course and Dominic was selected from Gunnedah. He informed us he was taught new skills and had to participate in some activities out of his comfort zone which have helped to boost his confidence and wellbeing. It was a very entertaining summary of not only an educational experience but of personal growth in this difficult year. Dominic, pictured with President Don Ewing and Rotarian Jamie Chaffey

01.01.2022 Sunday Luncheon for Club Changeover Rotarians and family gathered for an enjoyable Sunday lunch in the machinery shed at President Murray and Sarah O'Keefe's farm yesterday to celebrate the end of the Rotary year and the changeover to the incoming team. Limited in scale due to Covid 19 considerations, the function was nevertheless an opportunity to catch up, swap news and discuss plans for next year as restrictions are eased. Despite reduced fund-raising opportunities this ...year, the club still managed to disperse around $12,500 of funds to local schools, and non-profit groups, and the world wide programs of the Rotary Foundation. Club awards were presented to Tom Lyle and Rod Browne, and youth exchange student, Gabriel Werner from Austria, who flies home on Thursday, was farewelled with the presentation of an Akubra from the combined Gunnedah clubs. The function concluded with the hand over of regalia to incoming President Don Ewing.. See more
