24.01.2022 Today is World Kindness Day, and in honour of today, we want to share a patient story with you. Robbie is an Eye and Ear patient and like a lot of us has had a difficult year due to the pandemic. Robbie’s health appointments have been delayed, Robbie’s mother has been unwell and he hasn’t been able to visit her in hospital. Since the easing of restrictions, Robbie has been able to come back to the Eye and Ear for the first time after 8 months and soon he will be able to see ...his mum in hospital. During Robbie’s appointments, every member of staff he encounters takes the time to listen and care for Robbie. Deb and Betty from the Patient Experience team joined Robbie for an iced tea and a good catch up. It’s simple moments of kindness like these that can have a huge impact in our lives. If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded. Maya Angelou

15.01.2022 This Antimicrobial Awareness Week we are joining with health organisations around the world to promote the appropriate and safe use of antibiotics. Antimicrobials are very precious and we are raising awareness of the problem of antibiotic resistance. Everybody can be part of the solution - whenever antimicrobials must be used, they must be used with care. The future of antimicrobials depends on all of us!... Antibiotic resistance happens when bacteria stop an antibiotic from working effectively without effective antibiotics some procedures may not be possible and some infections could be impossible to treat. Learn more about the importance of keeping antibiotics effective at https://bit.ly/2PPY0fH

11.01.2022 Today our Ward 4 team say goodbye to their old digs and hello to their state-of-the-art home in our new Perioperative Suite. This is a very exciting milestone in our redevelopment project! The first of many improvements for our patients. The culmination of this transition will eventually see our Day Surgery Facility, Main Operating Theatre and Short Stay Care Centre located on one floor. These departments have previously been spread across two campuses and three levels. The benefits for our patients and staff will be considerable. The redevelopment is being undertaken in conjunction with Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority
