19.01.2022 The Rustica Project is saddened by the loss of our friend Angelo Marchese - a friend to all Italo and Australian musicians in Melbourne. For 50 years Angelo played piano accordion at weddings and all festivals with his beloved wife Dora. His style was romantic, subtle and traditional - a gentleman of your art, we will always treasure you. Arrivederci Angelo e grazie

Our dear friend Mimmo Cavallaro is honoured and revered in this amazing article about his local and global career as a song keeper for traditional Italian folk music. We know he has many fans in Australia and indeed around the world; and we were very proud to be part of his journey to Australia at the tail end of his world tour in November 2019. Even more stoked were we to see the photo taken at Southbank in Melbourne on a memorable evening spent with Mimmo and his band members, as we all strolled through the streets of Melbourne together. We cannot wait for your return so we can dance and sing and celebrate your wonderful music again!

We ...were looking forward to playing with our dear friend Davide Ierardi and his band DiLuSs who have made a special trip to Australia to play with us as well as to perform at the Taranta Festival, but we just cant take any risks at the moment. Lets all focus on being well and looking after each other. We will be back when all of this is over. 09.01.2022 Some Members of the Australian Calabresse Cultural Association attended the concert given by Mimmo Cavallaro at the Thornbury theatre last night. What a perform...er and what an indefatigable worker in preserving the traditional music of Calabria. It was heartwarming to see this marvelous performer perform to a full house and to watch a multi generational mosh pit dance the Tarantella to his infectious music. Plaudits to The Rustica Project that organised the concert! Hopefully ACCA the group may be able to collaborate on future cultural projects! #therusticaproject #italiantraditions #italianculture
