25.01.2022 In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends Dr Martin Luther King Jr. We stand with all our brothers and sisters. I acknowledge my own white privileged and I use what small forum I have to make a stand and show solidarity against the injustice, racism and cruelty that exists right here on our Australian soil, in America and all over the world. Black lives matter. unknown #blacklivesmatter

25.01.2022 Theres no way around it, we are facing tough times in Victoria. My neighbour has been delivering a delicious coffee to my fence each morning and it is really lifting my spirits. Acts of kindness are the key to our emotional survival. A wise friend once told me when she is feeling down she does three things: Something that has to be done, something for somebody else and something for yourself. Its advice I live by and it is definitely being put to use in iso2. Take care o...ut there. #iso2 #melbourne #community See more

24.01.2022 Mother Nature keeping us entertained.

23.01.2022 Today marks the first mandatory mask day in Melbourne. It seems surreal and pretty grim. At this stage I know most of us are feeling quite fragile. With that in mind, this is a gentle reminder, if and where you can, please wear a reusable mask. Surgical masks are made from polypropylene and take up to 450 years to degrade and disappear from our earth. We must not forget that before COVID Mother Nature was hurting and she still is. There are lots of options out there for washable/material masks. I am lucky enough to have a ripper mother in law who posted these to us. Please tag any great Australians who are selling or making these so we can continue to support each other. Be kind to yourselves, do good when you can and smile with your eyes. 19.01.2022 It is with a full heart and after almost 8 incredible years, I am announcing The Sage Garden will cease operating as a business. Connecting children with nature is my passion and I am proud to have created a space that embraces and nurtures that philosophy, it has been pure joy. This year chucked challenges at us all that we couldn't have anticipated and for my small business the knock on effect was enormous. This was not how I had imagined 2020 finishing. However, as The Sag...e Garden went into deep hibernation I was given an opportunity I wouldn't have otherwise given myself, to reflect and to spend quality time with my family (and animals). As hard as the decision has been, I wanted to explore what other possibilities were out there for me and if there were other ways communities could benefit from my 20 years of experience working with children and teaching them to grow. It is amazing what appears when you start looking...I am thrilled to announce I will now be rejoining the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (I was a garden specialist from 2008 to 2012) supporting pleasurable food education, growing and cooking seasonal food, in Early Childhood Education nationwide. Above anything else I could say, I want to say Thank You. To the passionate and dedicated 'Sagettes' - our educators who have joined me along the way and turned The Sage Garden into more than I had ever dreamed, to Kat Macleod who designed all the looks, Leonard.st for our beautiful uniforms, my family and friends for so much support. And to everyone who has been here on the socials with me over the years. @thesagegarden will remain as my personal Instagram page, and I hope you can hop over there to join me as I share the highs and lows of growing organic food in a rented garden in suburban Melbourne. Together we can continue to inspire each other to grow organic food. Natasha xx

19.01.2022 My little buddy came out to chat while I was taking the washing off the line, so we decided to have a little garden. The other week when I was cleaning out my office I found a bag of old potato seeds and chucked them in a bed. Normally planted in melbourne between August and September, I thought there was no better time than now to experiment, also I couldnt be bothered finding another spot for them Today Ambrose added a layer of mulch, when they get bigger well and some more compost. Ill let you know how we go. . . .

12.01.2022 Today we gather cuttings. This is by far the cheapest and easiest way to garden. You can google different strategies but I have built a succulent and geranium garden with these easy steps. Cut healthy stem around 15cm just below leaf line, remove leaves close to the cut line, plant 5cm deep direct in garden and walk away. 11.01.2022 Today my sister-in-love said were learning a lot from this hibernation and that word settled in me sweetly. Amongst the noise and haste, I hope I can manage to feel the rest and embrace the hibernation. #together #nature #outside #rest #kidsinnature #hibernation

10.01.2022 The babes and I planted garlic today. If you are on instagram we also made a live video. I love planting garlic. I hope you are all managing okay. I have almost worked out zoom, I have drunk my body weight in sodastream and I discovered the kids love washing the car. Whatever gets us to the end of the day with a smile is a win.

07.01.2022 Morning, Uh what a surreal time we are living in. I just keep trying to get my head around whats going on. Im thinking about what has happened to my small business, my family, then suddenly you realise the enormity of it all and youre thinking about the entire world and how we are all impacted by this. Ive also been thinking about my role here in the socials. My goal has always been to teach children to grow. I want to be real and helpful and honest. Im at home with my ...kids, my husband working from home and a dog and a cat and its weird! So lets bend the rules and show the real stuff. I want to help you with the things you need help with. I can make a couple of garden videos with my kids or read you some of my favourite gardening stories for children, or give you some fun ideas for activities you can do in this wild time. Tell me what you would like to see here and Ill try and make it happen. There is so much content out there maybe you just want a garden pic with no words at all. Despite how long this has been, I can post photos without any words...Im sure I can. xxx #teachingchildrentogrow #teachingyoutogrow #thesagegarden See more
