17.01.2022 It is believed that this dog pictured below, was picked up by well meaning person and transported to Hilltown. Here he jumped off the ute. There has been anothe...r reported sighting, up towards Jamestown but could also be another different black and tan kelpie also fallen from the back of a ute. Please secure them. Too precious to lose. URGENT: Missing from Farrell Flat, Entire male 2yo black and tan Kelpie, "Roy". Is wearing a blue webbing collar. Very friendly and will 'herd' sheep but poses NO threat. 11.01.2022 I was asked why I do what I do. Those of us who care for others cannot turn away... We don't want to have to rescue... In an ideal world there would be no need...... We don't want to cry, nor for our hearts to be heavy... We don't want to deal with the cruelty or horror ... We don't want to deal with the atrocities that we have to... ...And we don't know how to deal with them... <3 But we have no choice <3 <3 Simply because we care <3 Maybe this quote better explains it.
10.01.2022 To say I am angry is very mild. So many of us work everyday saving horses from neglect properties and lobbying for humane changes in the archaic horse industry.... We dont get a wage nor benefits for what we do. We work from sunrise to way after sunset to help horses in bad situations. Sometimes I wonder why? It seems we not only battle our hearts out to shove Government and Welfare horse industry agencies from behind their comfy desks and off their butts to do their job, including RSPCA, but also have to deal continuously with people and their comments who have no idea what actually happens in the Australian Horse Industry. Every week numerous properties containing neglected, starving horses are reported to us and we do our best under extremely difficult circumstances and low funding to help all these horses. Difficult circumstances as we have to fight for agencies to do their job and force RSPCA via numerous Incident reports to apply their mandated 5 freedoms for horses. They get paid via charity funds, we do NOT, yet we work much longer hours than they do. Please tell me why horses are under RSPCA Welfare Authority? And Why there is such a LOW PROSECUTION RATE for neglected horses? I dont have the exact statistics but my personal experience on local neglect properties is more horses die under RSPCA monitoring than any other animal. And the annual figures of RSPCA prosecutions of all cruelty cases is less than 1%. Why? On Monday we attended a property of emaciated, neglected mares and foals that RSPCA had already attended days previously and left as they stated they had educated the owner on feeding these horses. These horses were mares and foals with the mares having a body score lucky to be 1 out of 10. So we liaised with the owner and offered cash if he surrendered the 2 worst mares and foals as we could rehab the mares via small 3 hourly feeds night and day and the money would help the owner purchase feed for the 2 other mares on the property. This was rather than the emaciated mares be left to RSPCAs order to feed them and we will check their weight in 2 weeks. Seriously? After days of negotiation we organised 2 floats to pick up the mares and foals at an arranged time on the Monday. We arrive and were notified by the landholder that RSPCA have directed the mares and foals are unable to be transported. I ask what was their reasoning and what was the difference between days prior and their order to feed the horses and we will check them in 2 weeks and the exact day we had organised to pick up these emaciated mares and their foals? The reasoning was we were present. Does RSPCA only become involved when another organisation is prepared to help? A little too late dont you think? Maybe RSPCA should of stomped their foot the week prior. There is no other reason as RSPCA had stated they were returning in 2 weeks to check the WEIGHT of the EMACIATED MARES. All of a sudden RSPCA scampered out to the property to stop the owner surrendering the emaciated mares and their foals. How ironic when its near impossible to get RSPCA to attend any property containing starving horses. They drove in at high speed maybe in a big hurry to stop these mares from being transported under 30 minutes to a clean warm stable at our equine vets facilities where bloods would of been taken and the mares and foals provided 24 hour vet care out of the pouring rain. Meanwhile the emaciated mares and young foals stood in a small yard in pouring rain, wet and cold, awaiting RSPCAs majestic rescue. Once the RSPCA vehicle was emptied there wasnt 1 or 2 RSPCA representatives but 4. Wow. Where were all of you when the horses starved to DEATH at WILLIAMTOWN under RSPCAs monitoring system? And the gelding left to die in ABSOLUTE PAIN in MAITLAND. And the property at Medowie left for 12 months? None of the above prosecuted but continue to starve animals. And BM the hoarder that starved both horses and dogs under RSPCA monitoring? Hasnt BM had a dog with a broken leg for weeks? Where are you there? This failure to ensure the humane and ethical treatment of animals and enforcement of this agencies 5 FREEDOMS just never ends. Our ladies present to accept and load the emaciated mares and their foals on this property, surrendered to our horse sanctuary charity by the horses owners, were then subject to abrupt rudeness by the assigned lady RSPCA Inspector.( name withheld).SW. We were forcefully ordered like children not to move nor approach the horses that had been surrendered to us in good faith. We were ordered not to talk to nor approach the horse owner, property owner nor RSPCA crew at any time until their inspection and conversations were completed. So we huddled in the rain and watched RSPCA conduct an assessment ONLY ON THE MARES and FOALs we were designated to pick up with NO ASSESSMENT provided to the other horses on the property. How ironic that we are suppose to be a COMPANION ORGANISATION to a charity that can only intervene on cruelty cases when other organisations like ours are present to offer help. It is an abysmal shame that the very organisation mandated to uphold the welfare of animals in Australia cannot think past their own agenda to protect their horrific record regarding their poor management of horse neglect properties. After the RSPCAs 3 minute assessment of stated mares, no assessment of the foals nor other horses on the property nor bloods taken nor any other veterinary assessment usually conducted by equine vets on severely emaciated horses the RSPCAs assessment was the emaciated mares and their foals were to remain under the owners management and feeding under RSPCA monitoring. Here we go again. I discussed with the RSPCA veterinary officer, I dont know who as no RSPCA Officer would supply a contact card, that we would be continuing the monitoring of these mares so they would not end up like the horses that died starving under RSPCA monitoring previously at Williamtown and other properties. (Evidence available via incident reports) Unfortunately the landholder that had previously been great to deal with ordered us OFF the property after a discussion with the RSPCA Inspector SW. To RSPCA I hope the undermining of my 2 organisations to help make you feel in control and better worked for you. And for once a person like me that has worked towards a partnership with your organisation and others for the benefit of ALL horses will now hold you accountable for EVERY single failure. And there is a massive amount currently collated. It doesnt take much to be polite nor does it matter where the horses go as long as they receive the care they require. Shame you havent learnt that yet nor some etiquette nor learnt to assess and place the care and rehab of emaciated horses above your own agenda. Both my organisations have presented at recent Senate hearings regarding implementing national Horse Traceability and the other updating POCTA and removing ALL prosecution powers from RSPCA. At both Senate Hearings we tabled RSPCAs inability to enforce their 5 freedoms to apply to horses and evidence of the deaths via starvation of horses under RSPCA monitoring. The fact is we didnt table the numerous times RSPCA have sent horses to SLAUGHTER rather than apply the time and funds we do to ensure horses are rehabbed and adopted to a safe and protective home. Ironic isnt it? Maybe its time to provide All the collated information rather than permit horses to continue to starve to death under a government funded charity that cannot enforce its own welfare mandates. Oh and any updates by RSPCA on the horses they seized will never be supplied. This is part of the problem. Who regulates the lack of welfare and seized animals by RSPCA? Are the horses traceable? Or will they end up at the Knackery or Saleyards like many before them? #RSPCA #senateinquiry #horse #aeus #hunterhorsehaveninc #faruqi #senator #australia #welfare #australianequineunificatiinscheme #mike #pearson #emma #Animaljusticeparty #equilegal #senateinquiry #williamtown #katewashington #portstephens #council #portstephenscouncil #horseneglect #charity #acnc #dpi #rutherford #animalhealthaustralia #littleproud #minister #australia #welfarefail #senateinquiry #horseslaughter #acnc #australiancharitiesandnotforprofitcommission #nswracing #domkins #news #abc #journalist #5freedoms

03.01.2022 People be aware! Do not give your pets tennis balls from China. My healthy four year old dog just collapsed after running with a brand new ball in her mouth for... about a 100 metres. Having googled what these balls contain, I found they have 25 times the legal level of lead for children as well has being laced with cadmium, arsenic, and bromide amongst other chemicals. They can cause vomiting, lethargy and seizures not to mention brain damage. After having a drink of water and a small meal, she seems to be ok now. Cheap toys are not worth the health issues they come with. See more
