24.01.2022 THE ESSENTIAL BREATH Breathing is the most readily accessible resource you have for creating and sustaining your vital energy. Most of us have lost a connection with the natural uninhibited breath we once knew as children, with relaxed open bellies, and as a result we have developed poor breathing habits that sap our vital energy.... Breathing is one of the most simplest things in the world. We breathe in, we breathe out. When we breathe with real freedom, we neither grasp for, nor hold onto the breath. No effort is required to pull the breath in or push the breath out. To become an open welcome vessel for the full life-giving breath is to live life without trying to control, grasp or push away what is directly in front of us. Most people are not aware that they breathe poorly, until the stress response and anxiety are firmly embedded in their daily lives and fewer still are aware of the consequences of restricting this central life process. From headaches to heart disease and a vast array of common maladies in between, breathing badly takes it's secret toll. Habitually breathing high into the chest, breathing too fast and breathing too shallowly are epidemic today. Since the mind is a direct reflection of the breath, we are unknowingly perpetuating the stress and anxiety responses. One the most paramount elements, or techniques in our mindful meditation practice is our attention to the breath, and sometimes if the mind is unsteady we can learn to lengthen and deepen the breath until the fluctuations have slowed and the mind is less busy. This breath is more full and complete, utilising the whole of the respiratory system; teaching ourselves to send the breath up into the chest, but more importantly deep down into the belly at the end of each exhalation. As many times as you need to throughout the busy day, dropping into a few long deep belly diaphragmatic breaths, we cultivate the yogic breath so it is long, slow and smooth, having the effect of calming the nervous system, nourishing the internal organs, replenishing the oxygen in the blood and cultivating a steady peaceful mind, but most importantly, bringing you directly into present moment awareness. -- Rachel Eldred

13.01.2022 RELEVANT TO THE CURRENT POLITICAL SITUATION AND MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AT THE SANCTUARY ... From Wikipedia "Vexatious litigation is legal action which is brought solely to harass or subdue an adversary. It may take the form of a primary frivolous lawsuit or may be the repetitive, burdensome, ... and unwarranted filing of meritless motions in a matter which is otherwise a meritorious cause of action". 03.01.2022 UNDERSTANDING HUMAN PAIN BODIES... "Some people carry dense pain-bodies that are never completely dormant. They may be smiling and making polite conversation, but you do not need to be psychic to sense that seething ball of unhappy emotion in them just underneath the surface, waiting for the next event to react to, the next person to blame or confront, the next thing to be unhappy about. Their pain-bodies can never get enough, are always hungry. They magnify the ego’s need ...for enemies. Through their reactivity, relatively insignificant matters are blown up out of all proportion as they try to pull other people into their drama by getting them to react. Some get involved in protracted and ultimately pointless battles or court cases with organizations or individuals. Others are consumed by obsessive hatred toward an ex-spouse or partner. Unaware of the pain they carry inside, by their reaction, they project the pain into events and situations. Due to a complete lack of self-awareness, they cannot tell the difference between an event and their reaction to the event. To them, the unhappiness and even the pain itself is out there in the event or situation. Excerpt From: Tolle, Eckhart. A New Earth (Oprah #61).
