25.01.2022 One recruitment client gave one recruitment agency $500 million worth of business. And then quietly spent $1.5 Billion more with another 10 agencies. Which client?... Which Agencies? https://gregsavage.com.au//this-client-spent-2-billion-wi/

24.01.2022 We all need to see some light at the end of the tunnel. At the moment, that is sometimes hard to do But!!!... Recessions end. This one will too. It will be a long, hard road, but we will recover. As a species. Economically. And the recruitment industry will bounce back too. Read how previous recessions have led to the best possible opportunities. One thing I believe for sure.. we will recover, and recruitment will shine again https://gregsavage.com.au//the-sun-will-shine-on-recruitm/ #recruitment

24.01.2022 People keep saying that "Post COVID the recruitment industry is going to be SO different." No, actually it is not. Sorry. Most recruiters and owners will be so relieved that the market is picking up, they will go back and do everything exactly the way it has been done before.... Mark my words. And it will be the opportunity of a lifetime missed when they do. Recruitment CAN be different, but only if you configure a new future for yourself and your business. YOU create the new recruitment world you want. Slaughter sacred cows. And the REAL difference is getting client commitment, to you, on each order. It's not new. It is just not done by 90% of recruiters now. And I took 10 minutes out to make a video to explain how you need to engage post-COVID, and how the benefits will flow to all stakeholders. Clients, candidates, and recruiters. I encourage you to watch it. The visual is pretty fugly, ( great face for radio!) but I believe the content is very, very attractive. https://gregsavage.com.au//drop-your-fees-and-triple-your/ #recruitment #recruiting #recruitmentadvice #leadership

23.01.2022 Recessions end This one will too. It will be a long, hard road, but we will recover. I have been through five recessions. While I have no unique insights about how this COVID created one may play out, I can tell you what happens typically. ... And its a sad story with a happy ending, so bring it in tight. Because the good news really is.. good.

21.01.2022 Are you recruiting a RECRUITER? Be it for Agency, or be it for inhouse, I may be able to help. Over 30% of recruiters lost their jobs in the first three months of the pandemic.... https://bit.ly/3hjkxvD There is some wonderful talent out there! If you are hiring, and have a link to an advert, I will share it on my LinkedIn. No big deal maybe, but I do have 315,000 LinkedIn followers, almost all of them recruiters, so maybe I can help you snap up a top hire! Lets get recruiters working again! (Just InMail me with your Ad and a few details. Brief is good. You are not hiring me :)

20.01.2022 You have to measure what you want to improve. So I built a tool to do just that. 13 Sacred Metrics that every recruitment business must know and act on. You won't survive without them. You won't grow in the recovery without them.... #recruitment #recruitmentindustry #recruiting https://gregsavage.com.au//13-sacred-agency-recruitment-m/ See more

19.01.2022 Thanks, people2people for supporting young cricketers

19.01.2022 Hiring a recruiter, and using a Recruitment Agency, is about so much more than price. But most clients ignore that truism, regret it, then blame the Recruitment Industry. Let change this as we emerge from COVID and chose your Agency on the basis of quality work, access to candidates, networks, ethics and proof of delivery. And yes, pay a few dollars more if that's what it takes and that's what you get.

19.01.2022 The question I get asked above all others. 'How do I win business in a pandemic?' Job flow is dire. Revenue has crashed.... Nothing seems to work. Clients won't even engage What can I do! Well, this idea generated 705 client meetings and 17 new job orders in one day. What to know what it is? #recruitment #recruitmentadvice #recruiter #recruiters

19.01.2022 Congratulations and thank you to people2people Recruitment for continuing to support young cricketers, despite the tough times faced by our industry. I am pretty confident that Chris and UTS North Sydney District Cricket Club are very grateful. And that Chris promises to improve on last seasons 53 wickets, now that he has the backing of the people2people team. :)

17.01.2022 Your biggest mistake post-COVID is to go back and 'do it all the same as before'. As an industry that would be a tragedy. This is the best chance we have ever had to change the dynamic between client and recruiter.. and candidate.... Let's not F-it-up. This is my vision for Agency recruitment in the recovery. What do you think? #recruiting #recruitment

16.01.2022 Most Owners of Recruitment businesses are not strong financial managers. Especially the ones who think they are. A sale is not a sale till the money is in your bank.... Read how I killed the atmosphere at dozens of Recruitment Board meetings with just a few 'irritating' questions. They have never been more important.

16.01.2022 PREFERRED !!! That's what the 'P' ins 'PSA' or 'PSL" stands for, right? But most often the reality is you are NOT preferred are you?... The reverse actually. You are one of a vast army of Agencies all competing for the pleasure of providing service at shitty margins Don't do it This Agency quadrupled profits by firing their biggest client https://gregsavage.com.au/20//11/go-away-psa-farewell-psl/

14.01.2022 All my COVID-19 recruiter advice is here. For Recruitment Owners, Managers and Recruiters. 40 blogs, podcasts and webinars.... Review, share, use for team meets or personal motivation. I will add to this as I go. I really hope it helps you. #recruitment

13.01.2022 Duncan Cunningham died nine years ago this month An excellent recruiter, a great bloke and a loyal friend. As we bemoan our fate during COVID I cant help but remember this kind, generous man who left his family before he reached the age of 40, and no doubt would have tackled this time with the same fortitude and good humour he displayed in all else.... We have our challenges but at least we are here to tackle them. Let us be grateful for that. In Duncans memory, I am proud to re-publish the memorial I wrote a few weeks after his passing.

11.01.2022 The question I get asked more than any other. How do I win business in a pandemic And its tricky WFH. Clients reducing staff. No F2F meetings. Every recruiter desperate. But there is one key tactic that works.... Really works. And it delivered 17 new job orders to this recruiter, in one day! (No BS) And I will share it with you in full. Tomorrow. In The Savage Truth Join the line to make sure you get it Tuesday morning https://bit.ly/2HfkOTr See more

11.01.2022 I was recently talking with one of my recruitment industry friends over in the UK, James Osborne, about a great new initiative that has just launched around mental health in recruitment. They have just launched the first-ever global, industry-wide mental health survey that canvasses opinion from all leaders and employees in the recruitment sector; sales, operations and back-office support. The survey is entirely anonymous, and the data will enable them to present a more accu...rate view of mental health in the industry. As we know, the recruitment sector has a reputation for resilience, strength and adaptability, but it doesnt mean that our people are superhuman. I would ask that anyone in my network to please take 5 minutes out to complete the short anonymous survey by following this link: https://mhir.typeform.com/to/QeNPyc4W (the survey will be open until 1st October 2020).

10.01.2022 I am optimistic about the future of recruitment - but nervous about the hurdles on the road to recovery. Virus outbreaks and lockdowns are possible everywhere. Australia has a long slow summer in wait. And the end of Jobkeeper makes nervous. (Very)... UK has Brexit looming Everywhere has uncertainty. For Owners and Managers of Recruitment Agencies, this means financial management like never before. I believe in 100-day Sprints. Budget in three-month slots. Predict GP and calibrate expenses accordingly. Your accountants will give you wonderful budgets and cash flows and much else. They will pour scorn on my dirty little spreadsheet' But its your business. And that means its your risk. You need to understand that your GP is a larger number than your expenses. This might save you. https://gregsavage.com.au//recruitment-agency-owner-this-/ #recruitment #recruitmentadvice #recruiter

09.01.2022 I wrote a blog 11 years ago, just as we came out of the Lehman Brothers GFC recession. It was framed as advice to recruiters on how to change in the recovery. If I wrote that same advice today, I could not improve on what I said then.... It's uncanny. The only difference is that last time it would have been a good idea to follow my suggestions. This time you will not survive if you don't. Will you survive? https://gregsavage.com.au//this-post-recession-advice-is-/ #recruitment #recruitmentindustry #recruiting

08.01.2022 It's very tough now. We know that. But accept the reality and adjust. Think about this as your COVID Recovery Strategy. recruiter or Recruitment Owner. Do today what others wont, so you can do tomorrow, what others cant.

06.01.2022 Many Recruitment Agencies will not survive this crisis. I am not a pessimist. Quite the reverse actually. Nor an alarmist. Same applies. But I have been through five recessions. None of them as big a shitstorm as this one.... And I am on the Board of 12 Recruitment companies. And speak to hundreds of owners a month. I can see what is coming down the pipe. FFS, 60% of recruitment companies in Australia and NZ went bust between 1990 and 1992. And this is worse And many Owners are lost. Floundering Most, like me, are not accountants. Most, unlike me, have never knuckled down to understand the relationship between sales, GP, expenses, Profit and CASH! So I have a little tool . So simple, accountants will scoff at it, and some recruitment owners too. But its not FOR THEM. Its for the multitude of owners seeing revenue halve or worse, struggling to predict the future, and mystified about what decisions to take. Keep it simple. Do this, every day #recruitment

05.01.2022 Lets be honest about Agency Recruitment for a moment. Prior to the pandemic, technology and lack of skill drove plenty of recruiters to treat recruitment like a dating app. Swipe left. Swipe right.... Post-COVID, you have a choice. You had better make the right one https://gregsavage.com.au//recruitment-is-not-tinder-covi/ #recruitment #recruiting #recruitmentadvice

05.01.2022 Recruitment has been smashed. We know that. And here are some shocking figures to prove it. Revenue collapse. Recruiters fired. Over 1,000 recruitment, companies liquidated.... But there is some very good news too! Let's focus on that. # #recruitment #recruitmentadvice #recruiting

04.01.2022 Which employers are hiring? More than one third (35%) of employers are currently hiring, with an uptick in demand in a number of key areas, a new survey from Hays shows. Jobs are being added to the IT, life sciences, marketing, accountancy, HR and banking sectors in particular.... Conducted in June, the survey of more than 1,100 employers also found just 19% currently have recruitment freezes in place. Priority roles for employers include IT infrastructure, software developers, clinical researchers, digital content writers, accounting and reporting, data analytics, change management, employee relations, operations and risk analysts. Data and digital engagement are also growth areas for employers. Almost half (49%) say they have increased agile working practices, 38% have increased digital engagement with customers, 35% have invested in remote work infrastructure, and 21% have increased data use to analyse their business performance since the COVID-19 outbreak. The survey also identified the soft skills employers are prioritising right now. Topping the list is communication (45%), followed by adaptability (40%) and teamwork (39%). 03.01.2022 We lost our way pre-COVID. As we did in every previous recruiting boom. Squadrons of non-billing managers and other 'corporate' types with sexy job titles and vaguely defined responsibility.... It was a cock-up then, and it's a death sentence now. Because there is one thing that is sacred in Agency recruitment. Everybody sells baby! The way I define 'sell', that is. How about you? https://lnkd.in/gjm3zRt

02.01.2022 I can tell you for a categorical fact that the Federal government decision to extend JobKeeper till March next year, has saved many hundreds, likely thousands, of recruiter jobs in Australia. These were to be added to the 36% of Agency recruiters already fired in response to COVID. https://bit.ly/3eM3Mrf I know because I am on the 'inside ' of so many recruitment businesses, and in many cases, plans had been formulated and individuals selected. Really. The axe was going to f...all in September. Most were waiting for a government announcement to press the 'go' button, or not. Plenty of Agencies are only hanging on because of these payments. I am sure this is true of many other businesses in other industries too, and I am relieved that 'the cliff' I predicted we will fall off, has been averted for now. Definitely some good businesses are being helped through a tough time and will "phoenix" out the other side in the recovery But is it also true that other, less well-run agencies, are being propped up by these payments, and are ultimately not viable in any circumstances? Are they being supported financially, only to fail when these subsidies end? Is this money being wasted, in effect? This is a hard thought to contemplate, however, we must.

02.01.2022 Agency Recruitment has been dysfunctional for decades. You are part of the problem. Accepting orders in competition and filling one job out of four. Its costing you time, money and self-esteem Change it, now.... Here is how.. https://gregsavage.com.au//drop-your-fees-and-triple-your/ See more
