25.01.2022 Were skiving off for a day in solidarity with the kids. The Global Climate Strike is being orchestrated by young people around the world because they feel that our governments need to take prompt and definitive action to protect their future from the impact of climate change. We will be putting the tools down and closing our studio from 11 am today to show our support.... If you wish to know more, follow these links: https://globalclimatestrike.net https://www.notbusinessasusual.co

25.01.2022 Last year we expressed our feelings on the so-called ‘race that stops a nation’, the issues with gambling and the ever increasing concerns about animal welfare that are tied to the race. Since then, gambling advertising has seen a stark increase, and the COVID restrictions have provided a significant windfall for bookmakers. Yet, with the lockdowns in Victoria causing distress for your average punter, it has been deemed that the show must go on. We feel that the time is righ...t for us to skip the activities that normalise the issues, and say ‘nup' to the cup once again. As per the standard we set in 2019, we'll also be making a donation to the RSPCA. The link is here if you want to join us: https://www.rspcasa.org.au/

24.01.2022 Something special that we can show more of soon.

23.01.2022 There's been a lot of fund raising going on recently and lots of media around where the money gets to, if it gets anywhere at all. It helps when there is a specific aim of a fund, and the beneficiaries are clearly defined. One fund that we've chipped into is Creatives For, an initiative of Christopher Doyle & Co that aims to raise funds for three specific charities, one of them based in SA. From their site: "The donations will be divided equally between The Foundation for Ru...ral & Regional Renewal, The Fire Relief Fund For First Nations Communities and The RSPCA South Australia Bushfire Appeal" Check it out at https://creativesfor.com

23.01.2022 How's this for a great cover design? A simple idea, executed with precision, to reinforce the meaning behind the copy. #design #editorialdesign #coverdesign #typography

22.01.2022 Interesting job for a young designer working in a high performance environment. Get your resumes in. https://www.seek.com.au/job/50215251

22.01.2022 After a productive week of successful presentations, fine typographic nuance, and a couple of new clients, we're cruising into the weekend like ...

18.01.2022 Loving how different businesses are finding unique solutions in these strange times. Mother Necessity and her children of invention.

18.01.2022 Stage One signage being installed at Healthy Living Precinct, Welland. Part of a larger brand and visual identity design project currently being rolled out.

15.01.2022 Our friends at Swanbury Penglase posted this spread from their recent 30 year publication (designed by us) and it's no coincidence that we share the same values here at sector7g, albeit with a much smaller team than theirs. We wholeheartedly agree that these values will be a huge part of what gets us through this. #gohard #gohome #gowashyourhands... cheers Nic

14.01.2022 I love this. Fear of failure or ridicule is a terrible infliction for a designer. When seeking the new, you need to take risks. Designers need to establish processes that enable you to work with clients with no pressure of commitment; discussions, workshops, "What if..." sessions, and just plain old rough sketching on sheets of paper, all help develop ideas outside of the norm.

14.01.2022 At the risk of just adding to the noise, thought we should post a quick note to say we have kicked our work from home plan into gear and will be back up and running tomorrow. Stay safe, be considerate of others, and don't be a dick. cheers... Nic, Nathan, & Hannah. See more

13.01.2022 We've got our fingers crossed that Mr A will come to Adelaide with this program.

13.01.2022 Twenty one years ago yesterday, a young, dumb, and full of confidence, designer decided to walk away from a 9-5 job as Creative Director of someone else's studio, to go out on his own. While it has been a tough slog at times, it's also been a lot of fun and hugely rewarding. We've had a plethora of characters come through the studio and each one has had an impact on the culture of our team and our space. A huge thanks to all clients, past and present, who have supported the s...tudio over the last two decades, the sector7g alumni who are always keen to keep in touch, and to my colleagues and friends in the design industry who have been there to provide advice, accountability, and the occasional long lunch. The biggest thanks though goes to two people who make up the other two thirds of sector7g; Nathan and Hannah. Nathan for his unwavering attention to detail and eclectic taste in music, and Hannah for her practical approach and being my rock. They have both made the studio what it is today. Right now, it's hard to see too far in the future, but we're taking each week as it comes and plan on getting over the bridge. For now, we'll get back to the grindstone and keep ourselves busy, but we will be having the party and exhibition we had planned to have this month, later in the year. Love & respect Nic

12.01.2022 We just found out we have two finalists in the Best Awards, New Zealand. One for our work with Justine Carr on The Change Project and one for our own website. Thanks to Justine for entrusting us with her project and providing us some excellent imagery to work with and to riff off. The Change Project - Public Good Award https://bestawards.co.nz//pub/sector7g/the-change-project/... sector7g Website - Small Scale Websites https://bestawards.co.nz//small/sector7g/sector7g-website/ What an excellent way to wrap up the week. #design #awards #campaign #website #bestaward #sector7g

12.01.2022 Humanee. Business for people. Naming, positioning, and visual identity for an accounting firm that is changing the way that people perceive business services.

12.01.2022 Our friends at Swanbury Penglase have just moved into their new digs on Gilbert Street. It's a lovely space, with a mix of raw materials and warm lighting, and is our new favourite place to have meetings! We'll be rolling out some new branded elements for them over the coming weeks.

12.01.2022 Reading about this lovely piece of wine label design by our friends at Cornershop. Very elegantly crafted and a strong concept to boot. Top work Damo!

11.01.2022 Who are some good female illustrators working in Adelaide at the moment? We're on the lookout. We've got a project coming up that requires a unique style and tone for a series of illustrations depicting powerful female archetypes and we wanted to stretch our network beyond our usual suspects. Post any recommendations below or send us a message if you fit the bill.

10.01.2022 Early stage concept developments showing type, colour and water colour texture in unison.

09.01.2022 Found the original scans for our Raw Like Sushi identity. This one somehow missed the cut so we might try and squeeze him into a new project. #design #identity #imagemaking #blackandwhite #everydayobjects #cassette #cassettetapes #seacreatures

09.01.2022 We've just been announced as a Finalist in the Best Awards for Ridgewood Timber's website, designed and built by us last year. The site is centred on a filterable table of products, with details expanding inline. The end result is a site that conveys Ridgewood's product range with the minimum amount of friction. http://ridgewoodtimber.com/

08.01.2022 Coming out of Iso and quietly launching our new website. Let us know if you love it, hate it, or more importantly, spot a typo. https://sector7g.com.au/

08.01.2022 Part of our recent rebrand of long term client Swanbury Penglase. 46 different symbols, based on a common framework, to express the wide variety of people and disciplines within their 30yo practice.

07.01.2022 Next Tuesday is the Melbourne Cup. The so-called 'race that stops a nation'. In the past, our studio has gone through the motions, attended events, had lunches, and even held sweeps. It never felt like a natural thing for us. Were neither gamblers nor racegoers. (We do wear hats on occasion but none that would gain us entry to The Birdcage. Quite the opposite, in fact.) This year weve decided to disengage from the antics. The Cup doesnt mean anything to us and the concerns... about animal welfare are becoming much harder to ignore. Well be having a lunch break far from the madding crowd and then getting back to work. Well also be donating to the RSPCA in lieu of the bets, the champers, and the hangover cures. https://www.rspcasa.org.au/

07.01.2022 Blobs and globules. Visual research for some new identity work.

06.01.2022 There are type nerds and then there are full blown, typographic fetishists. If you fall into the latter camp, you are going to love this. Commercial Type's Commercial Classic Showcase featuring Brunel, Calson Doric, & Caslon Ionic typeface collections presented in a lusciously designed site by Pentagram. Enjoy.

06.01.2022 We're getting some new studio vibes with our room divider mural by Wendy Dixon-Whiley. So fresh it's still dripping! https://www.facebook.com/WDixonWhiley/

06.01.2022 Even our website is on strike. https://sector7g.com.au/

04.01.2022 Some practical actions you can take as an individual in this critical time.

03.01.2022 Now that he's finished the task, we thought we should give a shout out to Nathan, our Senior Designer, who has been one of the jurors for this year's AGDA Design Awards. Over the past month, Nathan has been assessing the entries in the categories of Print Design, Spatial Design, Packaging, Student Print, & Student Packaging. We're looking forward to seeing the list of finalists when they're announced.

02.01.2022 One of our favourite logos designed for the coolest hair salon in London, Stunt Dolly. The motif is a loose reference to Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street.

02.01.2022 Check this out. Google setting up online collaboration tools for teachers.

02.01.2022 Logo for time & resource management software that is used by government departments and large public utilities.

01.01.2022 We recently had some of our work recognised as Finalists in the recent AGDA Design Awards, as well as the Best Awards in New Zealand. It's great for us to have our work acknowledged at this level so we wanted to share some snippets of the work and to say a huge thank you to our clients for trusting our process and our particular brand of creative logic. A big shoutout to Jon Eldridge John Hood Adam Falkenberg Jane Jeffreys Elizabeth Swanbury Wayne Grivell Carolyn Mounce Rog...er Ramjet & David Calicchia for their continued support of our studio. Cheers, Nic, Nathan & Hannah
