20.01.2022 I still find interesting things. This was in Trove August 12th 1834 in the Colonial Times page 6: On Thursday night last a hurricane blew the roof off a newly erected six-stall stable of Mr. Degraves, at the Cascade. The first gush... of wind shifted the roof, when the family were awakened hythe servants, and fearing the roof might fall in, the horses were immediately re- moved : scarcely was this effected before a se- cond gust of wind lifted the roof from the building and whirled it nearly whole in the air, spinning it round like a sheet of paper. On its descent it knocked the hat off one of Mr. Degraves's sons, and fell upon another ; fortunately, however, he was standing near a large stump, which broke the fall, and the young gentleman escaped without injury. Though happily no human lives were lost, two horses were killed on the spot, a, fine mare in foal had a stake run through her, and another was crushed to death hythe falling of the roof. The force of the whirlwind is described as truly horrific-some old premises, nearly adjoining the new building, escaped without the least damage. See more

11.01.2022 A word weighs 0.0155 of a gram. I know this. Not the book I intended to write in this crazy year but a companion to keep me sane.

08.01.2022 This letter is a weighty 25 g. Me. A. I am inside out and back to front. I did not curate the shelf behind but I did win an award to do with Erica Bell, I love Melina Marchetta and the James Morrison book is hilarious ( I have read it maybe 3 times and lent it often).

06.01.2022 I never did find Sophia's birth certificate. I have kept this screen shot as the most likely candidate. Sophia was allegedly born in September of 1789 but baptisms occurred when the child was 3-5 years old. Congratulatons to John and Mary Smith!

06.01.2022 I am researching a place called Riverton up near Boyer which was associated with the Benson family. Funny, it used to be called Lawn Farm. This is the property that Captain Hugh MacIntosh leased and where Henry Savery wrote his first novel. What an incredible coincidence.

04.01.2022 A few people have liked this page. If you want a copy of the book, I can deliver in Hobart or post elsewhere. No extra cost.
