25.01.2022 Thank you to all our guests who consistently rate The Shed as 5*

23.01.2022 The Shed is still empty, sadly, but we took the opportunity to check out all the walks that we have available for guests to explore close to Bridgetown. This afternoons walk is called the Wandoo Walk, off the Winnejup Road about 5 kms from The Shed. It should have been called the Balga walk because there were hundreds of them throughout this bush and many of them were so spectacular with huge skirts. I also saw one tiny donkey orchid, my first! All photos taken on a phone, so not crystal clear in some of them!

23.01.2022 Bridgetown is surrounded by beautiful walks, not to mention within cooee of the Bibbulmun Track. Come down and enjoy our forest walks which suit all ages and abilities http://trailswa.com.au/trails/bridgetown-jarrah-park

23.01.2022 We are so lucky to have lovely guests who choose to stay at The Shed. This note was left by our last guests thank you for your praise and we look forward to seeing you again.

23.01.2022 The Dept for Walking (!) in WA has just released a great document about walking trails and hiking in WA. This link takes you to the PDF which is downloadable. https://www.dlgsc.wa.gov.au//wa-hiking-strategy-bushwalkin The Shed offers a (fee payable) pick-up/drop-off service for guests who take linear, rather than circular, walks within 30 kms.

21.01.2022 To all our guests past and future who want to know when The Shed on Blackwood will reopen. We are looking at the beginning of June, however this is still not a 100% certainty it just depends on the stability of the spread or lack of the virus. https://www.wa.gov.au//dep/covid-19-coronavirus-wa-roadmap

21.01.2022 Yesterday we took our first booking for the end of May. We will remain vigilant to government edicts and will space stays by 2 clear days either side of a booking. If you need to discuss this with me, please email Mary [email protected]

19.01.2022 A misty morning today around the house

19.01.2022 What do you think, art or bring out the dead collection?

18.01.2022 Youll need somewhere comfortable to stay after tackling the Blackwood Tour. The Shed on Blackwood is an ideal spot, just a five minute cycle into town.

18.01.2022 Our last guests have left this lovely message in the feedback book. We offered them a transfer ($20) to the Bibbulmun Track off the Brockman Hwy and picked them up late yesterday in Donnelly Mill. They had a great day walk and saw many wildflowers. Super happy and super tired!

17.01.2022 This was the tiny orchid blink and youd miss it, so walking in the Jarrah forests means looking down as often as you look up!

17.01.2022 The Blues festival will be held - in some form or another - on the weekend of 13-15th November 2020. Thank you to all our faithful Blues fans for their patience; and for their passion for the music and this great South West music festival!

17.01.2022 Up-coming guests are in for a treat. The Shed has been gifted some spent grain (grist) from The Blackwood Brewing Company and Cidery for our sourdough. The roasted chestnut grist was used to make two loaves today and we ate (part of) the second loaf. It is absolutely amazing slightly beery, slightly roasted flavour, moist and delicious. I can’t wait to share it with our guests. And by the way, the staff at the Cidery rated the sourdough as the best they had ever tasted! Great praise indeed

16.01.2022 And they do online ordering for takeaways

15.01.2022 There are plenty of activities during the FridgeFest, so come and stay in The Shed and enjoy country entertainment at its best

15.01.2022 This is the latest information about Airbnb property management during the pandemic. The Shed on Blackwood will remain closed until further notice https://news.airbnb.com//update-covid-19-travel-restricti/

15.01.2022 Wonderful Fridgetown Fest activities for everyone

14.01.2022 This is what recent guests said: The Shed is very welcoming and comfortable accommodation. We absolutely loved the warm touches. Having a lot fire ready for our arrival and having fresh baked bread ready was lovely!! The information book was great and dinner suggestions handy. So easy to communicate with! We love sharing our space, so please, come on down to Bridgetown and see what this area has to offer.

11.01.2022 Bridgetown has many beautiful walks and one we completed recently was the Wandoo Valley walk in Hester State Forest, about 10 minutes drive from The Shed. You will rarely see more Balgas and some are truly humongous in one area than here and this article explains how unique they are to Australia

11.01.2022 The Shed is ready for its first guests since January very excited to be hosting guests again and although the weather remains wet, The Shed is warm and cosy. Lots of DVDs and puzzles/games to keep you occupied! Bridgetown is definitely open for business and the retail businesses have much to offer visitors. The Christmas Shop and Fat Arts studio, that were in the centre of town, have moved to bigger premises named FATS, opposite the apple packing shed, so make a point of v...isiting them for some Xmas goodies and spectacular art. The Loft and Barney and Fleur have some beautiful gifts and if you need lollies, dont forget to visit Ooh La La Lollipop. The Bridgetown Hotel is serving lunches and dinners (bookings essential), Bridgetown Pottery Restaurant is also open for take away dinners (bookings essential) and for the best fish and chips in town go to the BP servo. The Cidery cant offer taste testing yet, but has cider and beer for sale. See more

10.01.2022 To all future guests - please note that we require a profile photo of yourself when booking. This is for our security so that we will recognise you when you check in. All new bookings must go through Airbnb for the same reason. Returning guests may contact us directly (the nightly rate is the same).

09.01.2022 The Blues at Bridgetown is scheduled for 13 - 15 November, 2020. However, the event is not yet definitely going ahead this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. For full details on the Festival please go to Blues at Bridgetown Festival 2020 on Facebook. The Shed has a three night minimum for the Blues weekend, so bookings will be from 13 - 16 November or longer. Please dont ask to book this weekend until it is certain to go ahead.

09.01.2022 The Shed is an easy 45 minutes scenic drive from Nannup.

08.01.2022 Our latest guests review says it all! If youre on the fence-book it! The pictures do not do this place justice at all. It has beautiful high ceilings and so much light. Definitely the cleanest, best equipped, most pleasant, luxurious feeling but unpretentious Airbnb Ive been to. The outdoor area is nice to enjoy a morning cuppa or to watch all the lovely birds flitting about in the early evening. The inside space is as described above. We were glad it is winter so we could relax by the fire-so so cosy! Perfect unforgettable stay. Thanks again Mary, yours was definitely the best Airbnb weve stayed in and there has been a few. To be honest I found your place and then decided to come to Bridgetown rather than the other way around and i am so glad i did, its a lovely place that we wont forget.

08.01.2022 Better than watching the footy!

07.01.2022 This loaf of yummyness, straight out of the oven, awaits this afternoons guests to The Shed. Served with our homemade jam what more could you ask for in such peaceful surroundings?

07.01.2022 ***Yay*** Airbnb has rated us as Superhosts again! This means we maintain our 5* rating. So thank you to all our guests for this acknowledgement of our hosting skills

07.01.2022 The Sheds rates will stay at $125/night for 2020. This includes a DIY welcome breakfast pack of a loaf of homemade sourdough, butter, milk, homemade jam/marmalade, tea and coffee. The Shed measures 50 sqm, which is over three times the standard bedroom size and at least double a standard hotel room. Plus, you have 2.2 acres of land around to explore, sit and listen to the bountiful birdlife, walk into town for a coffee or brunch, saunter to The Cidery for some award-winning cider and beer or just stop and smell the roses. Its a wonderful place to stay, why dont you try it soon like this Scarlet Robin and her young teenager?

06.01.2022 Visit the Rabbit Hole to see what our artists produce

06.01.2022 The Shed is booked for this weekend but just to show you never say never even to COVID-19!

05.01.2022 So many reasons to come down to Bridgetown in winter, the Winter Festival is about to begin https://www.facebook.com/FridgetownFest/

05.01.2022 The Shed has been pleasingly busy with guests each weekend and during the week since the internal state borders were relaxed and we are so pleased to see guests again. Please check on Airbnb for our availability because that is where all new bookings come from. There was a new sighting of a male Western Whistler two days ago, right by the house, so the bird life is ramping up too! Bees are buzzing in the tree dahlias and the bush walks around here are full of variety.

05.01.2022 This is what they said about The Shed last weekend: Faultless. Spotless. Thoughtful. Reassuring. Comfortable. Immaculate.

04.01.2022 The Shed is ready to welcome in 2020. Where will you stay this coming year?

03.01.2022 Mark the date 24th August. Balingup is holding its annual Mediaeval Festival https://www.balingupmedievalcarnivale.com.au/

03.01.2022 The Shed on Blackwood is sad to inform past and future guests that it will remain closed until the government allows movement of visitors from within WA or interstate. We will post the reopening as soon as we can.

02.01.2022 The Shed supports businesses that make changes for the better.

02.01.2022 Next week, from Thursday 5th November to Sunday 8th November the Festival of Country Gardens will be happening in Bridgetown and beyond. Our garden, no. 210, is open for the first time under our ownership and all money raised will be given to Bridgetown Historical Society as our major fundraiser for this year. We’d love to see you it’s just $8 pp to enter. We have delicious morning/afternoon teas ($2.50 tea or coffee, $1.50 water, $2.50 homemade cakes and slices to go with your cuppa), second hand books and of course our own book A Mere Country Village. Lots of potted plants and cuttings available. Full details go to www.festivalofcountrygardens.com See you in our garden

01.01.2022 The Blues at Bridgetown is nearly here and The Shed is ready for our guests (who booked their stay last November!). Clovers is ten minute walk or two minute car drive from The Shed for all your needs, including a tasty bottle of wine from the liquor shop next door.

01.01.2022 The Shed gardens will be open during the Festival of Country Gardens for the first time (under our ownership). It’s exciting and I hope the visitors aren’t disappointed (The Shed is already booked for 6-8 November).
