Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, or sculpting to help people express themselves artistically and examine the psychological and emotional undertones in their art. With the guidance of a credentialed art therapist, clients can "decode" the nonverbal messages, symbols, and metaphors often found in these art forms, which should lead to a better understanding of their feelings and behavior so they can move on to resolve deeper issues. 11.01.2022 *please share* Yellow Ladybugs is working with the Department of Education and Training Victoria to extend our current resource on supporting autistic girls at ...school, with information on Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and goal setting. It would really assist us if you could spare a few minutes to provide your input, share this link, and promote our survey. There are two different surveys, so please select the appropriate one for your circumstances. > Parent / Teacher Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ylbgoals This survey is for any parents, teachers/principals, integration aides and allied health professionals who have been involved in developing an individual education plan for autistic girls. This survey is open to respondents from the various different schooling systems within Victoria, both mainstream and specialist schools, and primary and secondary schools. We welcome experiences from government schools, Catholic schools, independent schools, distance education and the homeschooling sector. > Student Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ylbgoals_students Autistic experiences are at the centre of this project. This survey is for school-aged autistic girls / gender diverse individuals, or recent school leavers (autistic female / gender diverse individual who finished school in the last 1-3 years). This survey is open to school-aged autistic girls and gender diverse autistic students. Student responses are welcomed from the various different schooling systems within Victoria, both mainstream and specialist schools, and primary and secondary schools. We welcome experiences from students attending government schools, Catholic schools, independent schools, distance education and the homeschooling sector. As this survey is designed to be completed as independently as possible by the student, it is probably most suited to students from Grade 3 and above (up to Year 12). If you have a younger child, who is interested in completing the survey, you are welcome to support them through the process. Parents/carers can act as scribes or otherwise facilitate students in completing the survey, but we are looking for responses in the students own words. If you have an autistic student who would like to contribute to this project, but would prefer to do this in a non-written format (eg by providing a drawing, video etc) please contact us at [email protected] Recent school leavers (ie autistic female / gender diverse students who finished school in the last 1-3 years) are also welcome to complete this student survey, based on their experiences while they were at school. We will also be separately seeking extensive input from adult autistic women/individuals, who may want to draw on their own schooling experiences, at a later date. ********************* Throughout the surveys you will note the use of identity-first language. We use this as an autistic-led organisation, and believe autism is part of our identity. We have also included the term girls but actively welcome input relating to gender diverse individuals (including non-binary and transgender, individuals who were socialised as female or identify as female).

11.01.2022 We have a new member joining The Shine Team 1-2 times a week. Our Receptionist, Geordi is getting a beautiful little Conure Parrot who will be joining her a couple days a week. We would love for our amazing clients to pick, 1 Boy name & 1 Girl name each. (Parents/Guardians you can join in as well) ... It could be as silly as you would like or it can just be a usual name. Once she knows the Gender of her beautiful Conure she will lucky pick from the box and see which name she gets. There will be a video uploaded of her picking out the name so everyone can see. Please drop some names in the comments and the name will be revealed in a few weeks time. LETS GET NAME PICKING KIDS.
