24.01.2022 It’s a day for flowers, just because they’ll make us smile... . . #thesilkroadtravelsindia #thatdayonamotorbikeinpushkar with @beauty_bringit

17.01.2022 Mothers Day, for those who celebrate, is going to look a little different this year as we continue our isolation from our loved ones. The face of our world has changed remarkably and I think it’s probably fair to say many of us have slowly, but surely, remembered how to live with less. I know I have. With this in mind, I invite you to consider an alternative to a material gift for the beloved matriarch’s in your life this Sunday. The purchase of an e-card from the @birthing...kitfoundationaustralia is a beautiful - and contactless- way to send a gift that extends far beyond the hearts of the mother figures in your life and into the lives of mothers across our world. And that is, without a doubt, a rare gift that truly celebrates Mothers. Hit up the link in the bio to purchase by Mothers Day this Sunday morning #contactlessgifts #socialdistancing #loveinisolation #mothersday2020 . . | @thesilkroad_ in collaboration with @birthingkitfoundationaustralia, Ethiopia 2019 See more

15.01.2022 A moment at dusk while in the field with KIT International . . . R.Glasby for KIT International, Ethiopia 2019

14.01.2022 There are so many moments that I want to share from our 2019 field visit to project partner sites in Ethiopia & Uganda, in collaboration with KIT International. But, it’s been a strange new time for us all hasn’t it? Settling into new routines, navigating different rhythms for our families & loved ones, processing the challenging realities of living with a pandemic in our communities and places far from our own home. Like many of you, I’ve been a bit quiet on The Silk Road so...cials as 2020 unfolded in such profoundly unsettling way. While things continue to challenge all of us, from all walks of life, there are some small projects coming along here soon that I am excited to share with you, should you wish to tune in; particularly those of you who have been here since our earliest India days.......In the meantime, I truly hope you’re all safe, well and loved across our evolving new world. 09.01.2022 Amongst the many significant events of 2020 that have created and powerfully demanded deep change within our world, I would like to invite you to view the most recent work of Carousel media. In collaboration with Terre des hommes - India, this powerful body of work addresses the very real & very current stories of young girls who are survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation in India. My dear friend, Jeni Lee recently travelled to West Bengal with TDH-India to create a ...short impact film to highlight and counter the stigmatisation faced by survivors of sex trafficking. You can view this film here https://vimeo.com/413030061 and if you are moved to support this work further, you can follow this link to make a donation to finalise another film called Still I Rise | https://documentaryaustralia.com.au/project/still-i-rise/ They are very close to making their budget but need as much help as possible to be able to finalise this work. Below are the words of the filmmaker and producer Jeni. . . Girls from West Bengal are among the world’s most vulnerable to sex trafficking, because of porous borders with Bangladesh and Nepal. With the Covid-19 lockdown and the impact of Cyclone Amphan in late May 2020, the already vulnerable population has been pulled further into poverty, and young girls are at even greater risk of being trafficked. The trauma of trafficking does not end when if a survivor is rescued. At home, survivors are blamed for what happened to them. They face physical violence, isolation, stigma, shame and guilt, often perpetrated by their own family and neighbours. This animated short film advocates globally to restore dignity and rights to survivors of sex trafficking. It will also be screened locally, to champion positive role models who support girls during their reintegration. Any support you are able to offer will assist us to create an effective tool, countering the stigmatisation faced by survivors of trafficking. #bethechange #filmforacause #stillirise
