08.01.2022 Day Light Saving It’s that time of year again when the clocks go forward by an hour for most of the country, signalling that long summer days are ahead. Head to my blog page for my top tips on how to protect your baby’s sleeping pattern as we all adjust.

05.01.2022 NEWBORNS AND SELF-SETTLING From biology, research, and a dash of common sense, it’s not ‘neurologically appropriate’ for a baby to consistently self-settling when they are under baby under 12 weeks old. Their brains are not mature enough to cope with this skill. The main thing at this stage is about starting to establish healthy sleep habits for your newborn. When it comes to sleep, it’s 50% genetic and 50% nurture. You could be blessed with a relatively easy sleeper who..., with a bit of nurturing (in the form of good timing, consistency, and gradually backing off) appears to start self-settling by 12 weeks. Or you might have the genetically more challenging sleeper who, despite all the same input, needs to be patted or rocked to sleep just a little bit more. You can’t pre order your babies temperament so it’s important to take this into consideration when comparing your baby to the next baby. See more
