12.01.2022 Last night we held our Sloggies (Sloths Loggies ) ******* Golden Paddle Award 2020 Joey joined the Sloths in 2014. ... Not only did he ooze positive energy, he was a huge believer in working as a ‘team’.....working together and inspiring each other to achieve great things! Joey often gave encouragement to new paddlers, and would always lift people’s spirits. He was an instrumental organiser in the club, was our ‘Rebels’ mixed team captain + a NSW State Captain. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the club, and the paddling community....this award has been renamed in his honour ‘Joey Rihari Golden Paddle Award’ #foreverasloth #foreverarebel #honouringjoey @bondijoey Joey KupuTourism

10.01.2022 And we’re back! First regatta of the 2020/21 season in what has been some time in between races (thanks COVID-19). The Slothies didn’t disappoint however, and have started the season strong. Our crews placed 1stin the Premier Mixed, Premier Open, Senior A Mixed, Senior A Open and 2nd in the Premier Women and Senior A Women. ... Honourable mention to the Sloths Rebels who are no pushovers and made all major finals for the first time. And well done to all crews involved and @dbnsw for organising! See the fur fly! Chen Li, Jon Hanlon, Jun Zhuo. #dragonboating #regatta #watersports #penrith #teamworkmakesthedreamwork
08.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we share with you that yesterday we lost one of our paddlers, Joey Rihari. Joey has been part of The Sloths Dragon Boating Club since 2014 and was captain of the Rebels team, formerly known as the Sloths White team. He was always encouraging and helpful to those who were new to the club. On the water he paddled with his fiercely purple heart. Off the water he always knew how to put a smile on your face with his witty humour and kind heart. Tha...nk you, Joey, for all the joy you’ve brought to all of us. You were a great captain, teammate and friend to all of us. Our thoughts and prayers go to Joeys partner John and Joey’s family during this difficult time. Love, The Sloths Dragon Boating Club
