08.01.2022 Rent Relief for SMSFs with property - the ATO will take no action with temporary rent reduction in 2020 & 2021 financial years for tenants (including related party tenants) affected by CO-VID19 The relief is specific to temporary reduction and no other form of rental relief. While there is currently no indication on what constitutes a reasonable or arms length rent reduction, SMSF trustees are advised to seek personalized clarification based on their circumstances fro...m their SMSF advisor or seek private ruling from the ATO, particularly where the fund has LRBA loan from a related party and/or SISR 13.22C.
