24.01.2022 I stumbled upon Stacie Swift recently, and seriously [what] a find. I could simply scroll through her feed all day long. Its kind of my form of meditation, and well, the colours? #colourmehappy But honestly. Her entire feed is what we all need right now. Every single one of my friends is battling right now Whether it is lonliness, or tired of being holed up with the entire family hour, after hour, after hour. Or anxiety about job, house, money, future. Its all up in ...the air. This post resonated with me, because it has all the little pieces of the pie that quite frankly, we all need to eat every single day. So can I say the hugest, heart felt thank you to Stacie (and Mum of 3 = #matchymatchy ) to nailing all the simple things in life right now for us all to follow in all its pie wheel colour glory xx

23.01.2022 Times are tough .. but we all gotta make a living Be nice to one another. At the end of the day, we need our businesses to survive. We love to give, to help, to advise. But the cogs will not continue to turn unless is money is earned .. and then spent. And our little ol economy begins grinding back into action once again. I loved this video shared from where I learnt the most of MOST things social via extraordinaire Cherie at The Digital Picnic ... And as my hubby tells me consistently "nothing happens until somebody sells something"
22.01.2022 Six Ways To Kill It On Your Insta AND Facey Feed (via Bali .. I WISH, Take Me Baaaack) 1. Focus on community & collaboration (and NOT follower numbers!) 2. Optimise your BIO (check out my story on how to do exactly that)... 3. Create VALUE-able content my friends .. we all love a free downloadable resource, free advice, FREE anything! Hell, I love the free perfume sachets in magazines (even IF they all smell the same ) .. so give that good sh*t away! 4. Stay online for 30 minutes after you have posted or shared content .. and reply, engage and collaborate with your community straight away. 5. Ive said it before, and it will say it again - BE YOURSELF. Be personable. Be authentic & real 6. Partner and collaborate with like minded businesses & influencers that align with your own values Do you have any of your own content killers to add? Comment below and let me know! #TheSocialButterfly

You know the drill - DM, flick me an email or (gasp) buzz me! #TheSocialButterfly

20.01.2022 Gonna go all gushy on your guts right now ladies Cause this post is dedicated to one gutsy lady and as one of my [human connection + inspirational + ever-y-thang] posts, I wanted to bring to your attention a very important cause for our little cohort of mums who have this year not only had to deal with the freakish horror show that is #Covid, but also been on the journey of the smack-in-your-face-realisation-that-life-is-precious with our closest gal pal here Kate Kate w...as diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer [which is the shit balls worst one BTW] in January this year. Shes one of the mums I met when our boys were in the same prep class back in 2014 and basically shes taken me under her wing ever since (you know those mummas that can pretty much do anything, well, shes one of those: AKA class social coordinator, full time work, 3 kids .. you get the drill ). We work together, holiday together (when shes good enough to invite our family of 5 to squeeze into her parents Noosa pad you know youve scored a goodie ) Her take on this whole diabolical disease? "My silver lining this week though is knowing Im doing all of this is in a shit year for so many reasons. I cant imagine having this shit year and then finding I had cancer next year. Do your health check ups people. Lets just get everything sorted so we can celebrate 2021 so much more". So check your boobies, honkers, hooters, witch tits (as I endearingly call mine) & wind socks ladies! And fuck me, we cant wait until this C&C shiz is all over and then we can look back and really celebrate #cancerandcovid #TheSocialButterfly #Bye2020YouSuck Please check out @courageousladies and support her amazing venture ( graphic care of Manda too ) @ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
20.01.2022 2020 eh? Whod have thought with the rising of the sun at the dawn of the new century, that 20 years later everything seems to have combust. Like the globe just going you guys are all fucked up and we hate your guts. And tbh? I dont blame it So we kicked off #2020 with NYE bush fires raging across our country. Then covid falls from the sky like some crazy ass scientific movie which has then gone on to act as a catalyst to expose cracks in our way of life, our belief...s and what society dictates This virus is exposing endemic inequalities that have too long been ignored. In the United States, protests triggered by the killing of George Floyd are highlighting not only police violence against people of colour, but also inequalities in health, education, employment and endemic racial discrimination, Michelle Bachelet - U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights states. Just like bullying in schools, the workplace or at home, it seems as though this need to feel power over others is becoming so heightened. When rioting, looting and all the other despicable acts that takes advantage of these situations, well, thats just a serious low point of humans, am I right? And I feel sorry for my children to see this kind of selfish, nasty behaviour. I will endeavor to promote & instill understanding within them to help create a world that is strong and kind [and smart] that the The Digital Picnic quoted so beautifully I hope that we do finally rise above and wipe the slate clean. With a strong & clear sense that we are not invincible. To be environmentally wise and to stand together as equals This [very] old photo was of myself (the babes), with my older half brother & sister; all from different fathers, showcasing a very beautiful myriad of background, colour and culture. Black, White, Olive, Brunette, Black to Blonde. All in one god darn family We are all one, we are all the same and we are all different. Be nice to one another, be fair #PowertoGeorge

17.01.2022 W A R N I N G Wedding Spam coming your way! So exactly year ago I said I do to this guy ... and I tell you, the road has been one hell of a ride (albeit #rocky). James and I met one night out back in a hot, summery February night in Melbourne back in 2007 at a bar (aptly called the Lucky Coq) ... And 13 crazy years later here we are 3 boys - Charlie 11 yrs, Jack 9 yrs and Billy 4 yrs 4 houses + 2 boats + 1 Jetski + 2 dogs + 3 children and a move interstate later here we are (BTW the water crafts are all sold much to my delight ) We were happily ensconced in #defacto Brisvegas life .. and then a Noosa night away with our close friends we decided to go the whole hog and spend waaaaaay too much money we didnt have on a Byron Bay wedding! (Yes, I forgo a new bathroom for a party ) So there you have it, a bit of #TheSocialButterfly background. Why get married after 12 years? It brought friends and family together like nothing else. And that two day party? Was EPIC. Especially because our children were a part of the process was pretty magic and something that will be part of their memory bank too To everyone who was part of it, and helped make it happen? We thank you #BoxedIn @ Byron Bay, New South Wales
17.01.2022 F R E Q U E N C Y ... what is it and why is it such an important metric to understand? Talkin' frequency here in terms of paid adverts friends .. this little metric can really provide an important gauge on how choosing the right ad objective is, and ultimately the success of a campaign. When you are running paid adverts, the frequency metric relates to 'how many times a user is shown your advert before the desired outcome is achieved' ... So take memorability (objective : brand awareness) for instance - perhaps it maybe only take 1 or 2 times to be shown the advert before your audience will begin to recognise your brand or take an action that hits that objective. [like link clicks - see my results above I did for a traffic objective, targeting a cold audience to introduce them to my brand & services : they needed to see my advert 1.48 times before hitting the 'learn more' CTA] If your objective is further down the funnel and your audience is already familiar with your brand, you might be campaigning for conversions Perhaps it is a high ticket item? Say over $500 for an online course, then the frequency would probably need to hit the 5 to 6x mark. Your audience would need to see that advert that many times before hopefully converting and purchasing that course And to help back up 'frequency', our little Facebook friends recently undertook a study to discover at what point ad engagement begins to decline based on repeated exposure (or advert fatigue) They found that the optimal frequency for an advert is between the 5-6x mark. After that, ad fatigue sets in and those desired actions plateau #goodtoknowthanksFB Obvs there are many elements that will affect frequency, such as creative, campaign length, budget, audience targeting to name a few. But it is a good metric to understand and dive a bit deeper on when you are analysing the numbers on your reports. Because if you know that for your product or service that someone should be seeing your ad 'this many times' before action? Well, that's another optimisation you can hone in on! Currently offering a special for new FB advert clients, DM me for more info #TheSocialButterfly
17.01.2022 Hands up if you: a) Have Google Analytics set up for your website and / OR... b) Dont know the first freakin idea on how what to look for, what its telling you or why you have it in the first place? Because ehem people, this is the first question I ask prospective clients when on-boarding. And do you know what? Most of them have websites that have NOT been set up with Google Analytics OR, if they have (when their developer set it all up in the back end eons ago) GA just sits quietly in the background doing its thing, collecting data, for what? Because guys? I will tell you, if you are NOT logging into your GA account routinely, OR simply dont understand what the data is telling you, you are missing out on so much FREE information about WHO it is that is visiting your website Demographic data, Geographical data, What kind of device they are using to find you? How long they are hanging on there for? What pages they are visiting? Compare YoY or month by month, What sites are referring visitors to your site .. and the LIST GOES ON. So my advice? Get acquainted with your little Google Analytics friend, because #empowerment. Empower yourself to make more strategic decisions based on the data Google Analytics is providing you (for FREE!). For example ... what platforms are not driving conversions? And how could you change that? So become besties with our little friend here - it will help to drive better decisions for your business, and guys? This is *your* business, so youll want to get acquainted with GA to figure out exactly what impact all of your efforts are making way back there in the back-end.
16.01.2022 Ahh Mothers Day My 3 boys? I count my lucky stars these 3 little men are in my life However, todays post is all about giving love to all the Mums out there who dont have Mums in their lives which is certainly the case for myself, so today am paying homage to some pretty epic females in my life ... I was gifted with this incredible lady (swipe ) my Nana who allowed me to live with her from the age of 10 to 18 years old (honestly bringing up a female in her teen years?! #kudos to that!) This lady was with me through thick and thin, yet also had all sorts of pains in her own life yet never complained , never. Stoic & strong She was there for the birth of my first.. a fav memory of her was James & her giggling away whilst I was in throes of contractions she was a first aid ambulance officer in her latter years and nothing ever phased her .. to have her there when Charlie arrived? Something I will never forget Nyra Aunt, Saviour. We spent amazing times in NZ together when Nana was getting frail and close to the end. She walked me down the aisle at my wedding Shes always there when I need, and we both cackle when we laugh So cheers to these women in my life and Happiest of Mothers Day to all the freakin amazing Mummas out there! @ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
15.01.2022 Happy Hump Day! Which one are you leaning towards?
14.01.2022 So amid all this Covid19, I have decided to put myself out there and do a bit of back digging just for a bit of the ol FYI. I was brought up by a wonderful mum, who unfortunately took a few wrong choices in life (as we all do), and I took the opportunity to live and school in NZ with my grandparents when I was around 10 years old. The first image is at Black Forest Primary School in Adelaide Circa 1988.... The second image is a young tween in Roxburgh, Central Otago, NZ A picture can tell a thousand words, and my happiest childhood memories? Was when I finally felt settled, supported and safe once I was in NZ with a routine. Like every child should be and feel. So, during this time of anxiety, worry and feeling out of control? The one thing we can control .. is our home, our family and ourselves. And that is exactly what our children need right now
13.01.2022 This hit me in all the right places
13.01.2022 Sunday Musings Celebrate who you are Sometimes we are often so caught up in the daily grind of life, its nice to be reminded to pause and reflect on yourself.... And rainy Sundays are a great day to do just that Credit @stacieswift
11.01.2022 More and more it seems to reveal that data collecting of Tik Tok users is becoming more apparent. What are your thoughts??
10.01.2022 Cause even I get confused with the variations of image sizing and specs required by each different platform Heres a handy little infographic to bookmark peeps because using images which dont meet the requirements of your platform of choice can impact your brand perception, with pixelated and low quality visuals making you look unprofessional or not up to date, and with my eyeballs on your feed during Covid, its time to make sure you have all your branding and imagery on fleek
09.01.2022 Sometimes that affirmation? Is needed. And to be honest, these one's came just when I needed to hear them. I felt appreciated Working solo, it's so easy to feel lonely, not sure if what you are doing on the right track. There is no one to bounce off, or talk too (because my hubby certainly doesn't understand 'social media', he is repelled by my reels ). And that is why leaving reviews, recommendations, or even little comments like these one's here are so important ... So if you have worked with a small biz, bought a little something special from them, had the best workout of your life with that PT, or simply had a great experience, head on over to their FB page, Google My Business or DM them in the 'gram. Leave them some kind words Testimonials from satisfied customers are an invaluable marketing tool that will add credibility to your brand as well as help increase brand awareness [in a totally organic way]. Because when you leave a review for a small business, do you know what happens? They actually do a happy dance! Like I did when I read these comments. Because it validates that whatever it is they are selling, or promoting, or doing ... they are definitely on the right track The Digital Picnic
09.01.2022 Tik Tok banned in the USA .. is it a possibility? What are your thoughts?
07.01.2022 All The Things This little sentence packs a punch A friend sent me an email today and again, this little [big] sentence, was at the forefront of just how busy and action-packed our lives are when we are:... Mums, firstly and forefront. And THAT we know is a full time job in itself. But we need more, we want more, and so we turn our attention and energies to other parts of our beings that need that extra something. To be constructive, to use our brains, to make our own $$$ (cause those shoes aint gonna arrive on your doorstep by themselves right ). To just be true to who we are and mentally make room for our OWN thing But to be "All The Things" is hard work Some days its hard enough getting three kids up, dressed, fed, schooled, fed, homework, fed, fed, fed [no, thats not a typo in my house), bathed and yep, fed. And then maybe bed So carving out your own biz, or doing what you love in among All The Things, can be a challenge So thank you Jane, for putting your hand up and saying, I simply cant be All The Things, and chose to outsource. Outsource is key here folks What do you outsource to you make your daily life easier? Its a learning journey for me. Cause I like to try to do All The Things. And then I implode (and that affects everyone around me) So heres to outsourcing .. and NOT being "All The Things, All The Time" Scholarly
07.01.2022 Healthy, beautiful kids, mother in law love .. and a hubby who shits me to no end .. but wouldn’t be without luckiest girl in the world!
07.01.2022 Cheers (click the link to check out my 'friends' reel ) Working from home has so many benefits when you have kids ... But I am channeling my inner Ross these holidays, because focus can become very diluted when they are fighting, screeching or just generally being LOUD boys. During the hols? I feel like I need x3 of me (but that in itself would be all types of wrong ) What are your coping mechanisms as a #workingfromhomemum? Juggling a balanced holiday so they too enjoy their break, as well as the general house keeping (living with 4 males ), hungry [all-the-time], and servicing my amazing clients is a feat! Share your secrets below on how you keep your shit together?! https://www.instagram.com/p/CNomN2WDb8z/
06.01.2022 Covid-19 is affecting social advertising (like it is every other thing on this planet, but for businesses? This could be a positive.) You have more real estate on social advertising then ever before (well, before it got really popular anyways ) Digital attention is at an ALL TIME HIGH! People are at home, bored, relentlessly scrolling on socials. Yes, more eyeballs are on socials and guess what? Less businesses are paying for advertising. They have paused their paid adverts... because this situ does not meet their advertising objectives in an empathetic manner, or simply they dont have the marketing spend to put towards socials during this [very] tough time If you do normally run social campaigns, keep them going. Change them up to serve the customer in this new paradigm. With competitors out of the running, there are simply more eyeballs on the adverts that are on socials. Facebook ad spend has continually increased over the years. Previously, a lead would cost you around 50 cents (in this example a lead is an email address). End of 2019? Around $3.00 per lead. Beginning of January and the onset of Covid19 in Australia? CPC (cost per click) has seen a decrease. This is because more businesses are spending less money on Facebook advertising. This is a huge opportunity to get in the face of your audience like never before. However, you need to keep in mind that you cannot simply do the hard sell. You need to be sensitive and consider changing the message or objective of your adverts. Think about pivoting your business, serving the people now (and winning that business later) like offering freebies, discounts, or comp access to premium services. Eg: Foxtel has provided us with free subscription to all movies, childrens channels - like we are SO happy with that outcome right now!! If you are thinking of pulling that pin? Dont. Simply pivot, change your message and continue on, because it will hold you in good stead
06.01.2022 Data First. Then Sales. Truth bomb Good things take time (esp in marketing!). And thus the same goes with Facebook adverts ... especially if you are just testing the waters across this marketing channel. It takes time, patience and perseverance.... You simply wont achieve any success if you chuck money in your ads manager, cross your fingers and hope for instant results [#bybye investment dollars] A comprehensive ad strategy requires: Planning (setting up your ads campaign in advance) SOLID organic strategy already in place (because FB adverts & organic posting go hand in hand, you cannot have one without the other) Testing & optimising (and re-testing, split-testing and tweaking) Consistency (cause the brand has to be on fleek ya know?) Budget (yes, you will need to spend money to make money) I get that everyone wants conversions, because hell, thats the goal and the light at the end of the tunnel. But patience is key here. An idea of timeline for a solid Facebook ads strategy would look a little like this Months 1-2 : Data collection. Brand awareness, traffic & engagement are goals here. Meeting your cold audience and letting them get to know you. Its a slow burn but really crucial at this stage in order for this data capture to then later re-target Months 3-4: Facebook is finally getting an idea of who your audience is and your ads will then be served to the audience who really matter to your business. So once you have a healthy pool of warm audience you can then jump on the conversion band wagon and invite them to purchase from you [oh hello ROAS!] Considering investing in a paid ads campaign? 06.01.2022 This may look all perfect and happy-go-smiles we love #HomeSchooling moment But the truth? It hasnt been all smiles, shits and giggles thats for sure. Learning from home isnt all its cracked up to be when you have a 4 year old running amok, a business you are trying to recoup, build and save. And hubby just down the corridor WFH too.... Tell me. How has this been for those of you trying to home school as well as keep your business or simply work from home afloat? Because I certainly am not cut out to be a teacher, and definitely not to my own children. Parenting is difficult enough without slamming 6 periods of self directed learning (which BTW is Muuuuummmm every 2 freakin seconds!!) Yes. I have no idea what a Dictatorship vs Oligarchy vs Constitutional Monarchy vs Indirect Democracy is. Call me dumb, or disinterested. But shiz man. Give the girl a break. My head is full of snacks, plus the 60 mins of exercise they are meant to do, then snacks, then learning, then [my own] work, then snacks, then learning, then FAARRK #breathesister So yeah. This picture? Can paint a 1000 words because #perceptionisking. But it aint about me being the wholly grail of teacher / homeschooling / parent / workhorse perfection. Because you should see our house now
06.01.2022 How is it only Tuesday people??!!
05.01.2022 So very true Mr. Lovenstein
05.01.2022 Gotta love this woman! We hope the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy as still essential workers in Aus too
05.01.2022 R E S U L T S This client? Has a small, yet highly engaged audience, and we spent some time warming the audience before going to hot paid adverts land The product is highly scale-able, and this clever lady is going to do [so bloody] well. Im just pumped to be a part of what she is going to achieve in the long term because I truly believe in the product and what it will do for the industry (in a freakin GOOD way too) ... 28 purchases from a budget of $140 and ROAS of $4 is a really good kick off point. It means that for every $1 spent on advertising, we generated $4.31 in revenue Small budget and smaller audience? The key difference here is this clients online following is highly engaged. And when a biz is starting out, we understand that budget for advertising is a spend that needs to be carefully managed. We tested different audiences with a variety of creative ad sets, some surprising results with lots of tweaking and optimisations throughout the campaign For paid adverts to really hit home, you do need a strong organic strategy first. Just think of the two like peas & corn (or in my case cheese & crackers) Want to know about more how paid adverts can up your game? Hit me up with a DM #TheSocialButterfly https://www.the-social-butterfly.com.au/facebook-ads-manage
03.01.2022 Why Do You Need A Social Media Strategy? 'Kay guys, a social media strategy is THE blue print to your social media marketing plan. It takes the [why] and translates that into the copy and content through your social media posts with a clear goal in mind. Whether that is brand awareness, leads, conversions. Social media needs a specific strategy to get from A to B ... We all know that posting for content's sake = Big No No But by putting in place a comprehensive strategy that aligns your business goals to your social media, will ensure that you are on track to achieve success It becomes your referral document, and a benchmark to check your progress against goals and KPI's And in all honesty guys? It's very difficult for a social media manager to manage any socials without a strategy behind it. Some agencies won't even touch socials until a strategy is in place. And for good reason So what exactly is included in a social media strategy? Swipe left for what my little biz includes in a strategy doc Interested in this package? Check out my packages guide in the link below. https://www.the-social-butterfly.com.au/social-media-manage
03.01.2022 Soooo ... which one are you? A close friend made her own one up ... and I think Ill stick to that one: Bulimba Bird - Aka Tugulawa ... gets into active wear daily day drinks (*only possibly Thursdays, definitely Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) **Monday - Wednesday are now possibilities depending on length of pandemic follows self isolation by day drinking ***see above pretends to home school ****usually once day drinking has begun thinks about not day drinking but never follows through with it ************ PHARK! But I definitely dont day drink ... OK?
03.01.2022 You got me Today was parenthesis .. and yes, I had to look it up. Anyone else relate?!!
03.01.2022 Putting my money where my mouth is If you read my post on facey adverts (check it out peeps) I thought I would share the kind of kick ass success I can create for your business. This one here? A brand awareness / cold audience campaign which is the top of the funnel (they aint heard of you before, dont know what you do, what you offer, or most importantly, what you can do to HELP them). ... With so many of us now working from home and so many more eyeballs online than ever before, this is the perfect time to get results within the awareness & consideration touch points in the funnel. $0.11 per page engagement? Pretty fab results. If you are looking to elevate your visibility online - Facebook adverts is just one little piece of the marketing pie, but by gosh, its well worth it if it is executed well (p.s. still a couple of spots available in our SMM portfolio, in case you fancy results like this too? #TheSocialButterfly
02.01.2022 Navigating the new normal can be really tough. Changing behaviours, work habits and daily routine is difficult enough in itself. LinkedIn has developed 6 FREE mindfulness & stress management courses that anyone can participate in at any time. Definitely worth checking out .. these are now on my to do list for next week
02.01.2022 Some days are good, and some days are not so good #HomeSchooling
01.01.2022 Boosting Posts VS Facebook Ads [what's the difference anyway ] Well, a sh*t load to be honest! Short answer is ... do NOT press boost! Guys, it is purely vanity advertising. You are wasting your money #truthbomb... When you boost a post your Targeting options are extremely limited You only have two objective options [engagement or website visits] You can't measure the success of a boosted post (only via reach and engagement), and there is no ability to track ROI. Reach and engagement on boosted posts are often derived from 'like farms' ie. fake engagement which comes from countries like India, Phillipines and Eastern Europe. No value add there!! When you use ads manager you Can get super duper specific with targeting specific audiences which allows you to build custom audiences based on your website traffic, FB or IG page interactions, video views, email lists and a whole heap MORE. PLUS you have the ability to create Lookalike Audiences (which is FB finding those cold audiences who share very similar traits to those custom audiences who already interact and know your brand) umm... #goldrightthere But that's not all (free steak knives are next ) You also have the ability to choose which placement (which you can't do with boosting) (feeds, stories, instagram etc) so you can then optimise and not waste money on showing adverts where your audience just don't hang out! A well performing organic post? Simply duplicate that well performing organic post in ads manager which enables you to be much more strategic in who you are targeting. And the best bit? You can test your adverts against each other (eg. test two different audiences or two types of creative [video vs static] ) and simply turn off the one that is not performing. So boosting a post vs Facebook ads? A no brainer! Just hit me up if you need some guidance in this area #TheSocialButterfly https://www.the-social-butterfly.com.au/facebook-ads-manage
01.01.2022 Facebook have been Buuuuuuzy!! Check out their new 64 page guide on how to remain connected on your socials during Covid19 They have some great actionable and easy to follow tips that you can do on your feed posts, insta stories, lives and IGTV, and this document guys is something you can refer back to even after this crisis is over. ... Now more than ever your business needs to remain visible, so dont let your socials slide ok? Do not lose sight of the fact, because the more you remain in front of your audiences eyes during this testing time? The more likely they will remember you when things get back to normal and business goes into Boom Mode!
01.01.2022 Think of Nana and Grandpa always .. but especially today Grandpa who served in WW11. From Aunt Nyra: Grandpa firstly fought in Greece - then Libya, Italy, Egypt, (where they fought General Rommel, the famous (or infamous) German General.... He was highly regarded by his own men and by the allies, but as he lost ground in the Middle East, he lost favour with Hitler as a failure). Grandpa then carried on to fight the battle of El Alamein, a very famous battle and the turning point of the battle for the Middle East. He ended up in Israel (then Palestine, a name given the region by the British in early 1900s). He had been involved in a scuffle with a military policeman earlier and pinched his red beret. When his ship docked in New Zealand, instead of waiting in line with all the other soldiers, he put on the stolen red cap and marched down the gangplank, to the salutes of all, and kept walking, he said until he got home. So very proud .. love the image of him below with his pistol. Apparently he was a very good shot, which was because of all the rabbit shooting he did back home pre-war
