We love it, and were very good at it. But we also jump at the opportunity to work with and communicate to children and young people. You can read some of our top insights about creating engaging communications for young people in our latest blog: https://www.thesocialdeck.com.au//comms-for-kids-dos-and-d... #Communication #YouthEngagement #IncludeKids

Three national webinars have been held and focus groups with young people, parents, carers and educators begin next week. We want as many young people with disability as possible to get involved. Anyone can have their say about how the Disability Standards for Education are working. More info at: https://disabilitystandardsreview.education.gov.au/ #2020DSEReview #DisabilityEducation

21.01.2022 Last week, Education Council published its report on the Review of senior secondary pathways into work, further education and training. This included The Social Decks National Youth Forum report, which supported the review. The national forum in Wagga Wagga, NSW and other events with young people from across the country helped to identify how students could best be supported and have their skills recognised in their transitions beyond secondary schooling. Thanks again to all... of the young participants for contributing to this work and to the partners and schools that supported and attended. 20.01.2022 Yesterday was World No Tobacco Day and the focus was on young people. To mark the occasion, we re-shared our blog from a few years ago on the results from a social marketing campaign we developed with Tackling Tobacco Team - Nunkuwarrin Yunti, Aboriginal community health organisation in northern Adelaide, and Winangali Pty Ltd which aimed at preventing the uptake of smoking among young Aboriginal people. Young people are leading the change to reduce smoking rates, and share t...heir own powerful, positive messages! 18.01.2022 Its #NationalScienceWeek! Which also means that the SCINEMA International Science Film Festival is on! Scinema is showcasing the best science films from around the world, and they are all available online and free to watch during Science Week.... Our very own Production Manager and science buff, Casey, had the privilege of joining the judging panel for the 2020 Scinema films. Unsurprisingly she has a soft spot for the documentaries, with these winners among her highlights: 1. Scratching the Surface, about trained rats sniffing out landmines, which she called totally impressive and evocative. 2. My Year of Living Mindfully, which follows a journalists investigation of the science of meditation, which Casey saw as inspiring and relatable. 3. She Walk With Apes, about primatology superstars Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Birut Galdikas, about which she said Whether you know a lot about primatology and the trimates or nothing, this documentary has something to give you. Watch them, the rest of the winners, and a whole lot more all for free at https://scinema.org.au Tame Fox Productions #Science #ScienceFilms #Scinema2020

This year the theme is litter: stop the spread Keep Australia Beautiful Week aims to raise awareness about the simple things we can all do in our daily lives to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage action.... 10.01.2022 One of the best weeks of the year, Book Week, is upon us! This year, book week got The Social Deck team talking about the books that have shaped us and pushed us to commit to social good. Our lists of titles could go on and on, but include + Books that speak to Australian identity and capture experiences of our natural landscapes, like Walking the Boundaries by Jackie French, The Tomorrow Series by John Marsden and Cloudstreet by Tim Winton. + Books that speak to the human co...ndition and deliver strong morals, from Roald Dahl’s The Twits, which champions kindness, and Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince, which encourages curiosity, to Harper Lee’s classic allegory of open-mindedness and compassion, To Kill a Mockingbird, and the exploration of social organisation in William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. + Books that inspire us and make us see things differently, such as All the Places You’ll Go by Dr Seuss, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst, Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne, and The Stranger by Albert Camus, as well as accounts of early Antarctic expeditions like The Worst Journey in the World by Aspley Cherry-Garrard and South by Ernest Shackleton, in light of which nothing else seems that difficult. #CBCA2020 #BookWeek Image: Copies of The Little Prince, To Kill a Mockingbird and three books from The Tomorrow Series
