Repost @erroldouglashair Today is World Afro Day to celebrate the beauty and versatility of Afro hair, as well as raise awareness about hair discrimination and inequality. This is a day that is about so much more than just hair. For Black people, hair is political and carries a weight of historical meaning. World Afro Day to is part of a bigger movement towards positivity in the black and mixed-race community and it all centers around the afro, a c...ultural symbol that’s been part of history for hundreds of years. By removing the biases associated with the afro, this day is all about making the afro beautiful and accepted. World Afro Day was founded to celebrate the natural hairstyles of black and mixed-race people. This day celebrates the afro as a part of cultural identity, Michelle De Leon, the founder of this holiday, believed in the importance of heritage and history and saw a means to change the way people view the afro and find pride in what the afro stands for. She led the holiday back in 2017 and achieved over 2.5 coverage views through her efforts. This holiday has been endorsed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human right and the London Mayor’s Office. Leon has also been invited to speak at the United Nations at Geneva for her efforts in bringing pride back into the minority community. We should embrace all cultures and understand there values. All the clothes were authentic TUDOR age 1541 to be exact. The Insurance alone was well over 100,000K. To add to the complication of this shoot the clothes were shipped. From here England to Melboure the most stressful shoot of my life. Also these clothes are very Heavy materials velvet gold embr...oidery , Jewellery and corset framework. We shot in the warmest month in February with an average maximum temperature of 26C (78F). So you can imagine how hot it for the models. Hair make up etc getting the poses right longest day of my life. One the up side’s of this shoot was the incredibly beautiful @janescandizzo she been in couple of my collections previously fantastic person. Definitely the most challenging shoot, but the results were so memorable and unforgettable.
