24.01.2022 "Should I follow my competitors on social media??" The answer is YES! Firstly, I don't see competitors as competitors.... I see them as my community -- as my (extended) work friends because working from home means a constant stream of voice memos and video messages! Who's with me Here are 5 reasons why you should follow your competitors: 1 You foster an incredible community. You learn off one another, celebrate your wins together and cheer each other on. 2 It helps you stay on top of industry news. In the world of Instagram, this is *always* changing! 3 It's a form of inspiration and motivation. When others in your sphere are kicking goals and growing, so are you! They say that you are the sum total of your 5 closest friends and in this case, I'm super happy that I'm the sum total of my 5 closest Instagram friends! 4 When someone follows your 'competitor' the related accounts come up and your account will most likely pop up too! This increases your exposure! (win/win) 5 Collaborations! This is a big one! Your competitors have different strengths and weaknesses and if they reach capacity or need someone to do something outside of their job scope then best believe they'll be sliding into your DM's to give you work! 21.01.2022 I tested the same set of hashtags on 2 different posts and these were CRAZY In one post, the hashtags reached 5,982 accounts! In the second post, the hashtags reached 809 people! ... That’s a huge difference! Here’s what I did differently: I changed 3 hashtags to make it more relevant to that specific post (this is VITAL) Posted a different kind of image focussing on a different content pillar The post had a different key message. That’s IT! Here’s what it confirmed for me: The performance of your hashtags aren’t entirely focussed on the hashtag set you have. Your hashtag performance is also based on the content you post. When you upload a new post, it’s shown to your followers and if it’s received well, it will be ranked higher in the hashtags you’ve used! = increased exposure! Did you learn something new about hashtags?

17.01.2022 You don't need 10K followers for your business to be successful on Instagram! You really don't even need 1K! I feel you! ... We all want to book out our services/products and become the leader in our industry - but sometimes that little follower count stops us (in our mind) from getting there! Let me tell you, by the time I had 1.5k followers, I was fully booked out and making more than my fulltime job! #realtalk I did it with Audience Focussed Messaging. You need to take your audience from A to B Start point: Your core messaging. You need to get super clear on your WHY! Why you're doing what you're doing, who you're serving and why they need your offering. Your through-line: Value Add. This ties together point A and point B. It's where you drop value bombs (educate, inform and entertain your audience). End Point: Outcome This is point B, where you can prove that the product or service you're providing can help solve your clients problems, give them more time, make their lives easier or give them the life they've always dreamed of. Audience Focussed Messaging needs to be your plan of attack if you’re growing your brand online! Did this help you to understand how to use Audience Focussed Messaging? See more

16.01.2022 Cut your social media time in HALF while GROWING your business!!! I’m not on social media nearly as much as I used to be, but I'm growing 2x as fast and that’s not a coincidence! It's because I've cut out all the distractions, focussed on what serves me and put systems in place to make my time on socials super impactful!... 1 Schedule social media into your day! When you block out time in your schedule, you're more likely to stick to it and less likely to grab your phone and mindlessly scroll when you're supposed to be doing tasks. (We've all been here! ). Schedule in your engagement, posting and stories. 2 Check your DM's 3 times a day! This has been a real life saver for me! I check my DM's in the morning, just after I have lunch and at night. Don't feel guilty for not replying to DM's straight away. Yes, people expect a fast reply, but they don't expect it instantaneously. 3 Funnel your enquiries off of social media. There's nothing worse than having an enquiry come through and for it to get lost in a sea of DM's. Instead, as soon as an enquiry comes through, I ask them to send me an email. That way, I can stay on top of the enquiries and it really give them the attention they deserve. Do you find yourself spending hours on social media? Which tip are you going to implement first? 13.01.2022 Is your content aligning with your social media goals? It’s so easy to get caught up with what everyone else is doing and try to do the same to keep up! Hands up if you feel that!! ... You can try to create similar content, but it might not resonate with your audience. Why? Because you have different social media goals! The first thing you need to do is establish what your social media goal is: Is it to increase brand awareness? Is it to drive sales? Is it to reach new clients/customers Is it to showcase your work or expertise? (REMEMBER: your social media goals will change over time as your business progresses). Then, you need to create content that’s going to serve your social media goals! I’ve broken it all down for you in the carousel Save time (and your sanity) by focussing one goal and really nail it!! What social media goal are you going to focus on?? See more

13.01.2022 When it comes to my morning routine, I have a few non-negotiables to get me geared up for a productive day! Working for yourself means you don’t have a manager on your back for daily deadlines - so you need to motivate yourself! The number 1 question I’m always asked is how am I motivated to do all my tasks? My answer? I set myself up for success with a morning routine! ... 1 I start by checking my phone I get it, people say not to check your phone first, and trust me, I’ve tried! It’s just not natural to me, and I like to start the day with all of my DM’s +notifications cleared. A clear Instagram = a clear mind 2 I make my Breakfast Smoothie using the Custard Filled Cinnamon Donut protein from @botanikablends Oh! It’s seriously so good! I’ve been using it for a month and I’ve really noticed the difference. It’s Vegan and helps breakdown what you eat while reducing inflammation (day goodbye to your bloating!!) Plus, since being back at the gym, it’s been great for muscle recovery too! 3 My to do list! Every morning I map out exactly what time I’m doing every task so I can keep myself accountable! Create your own incredible Breakfast Smoothie using @botanikablends protein + my code MON15 for 15% off! Trust me, you’ll love it as much as I do! What’s one non negotiable in your morning routine? 11.01.2022 How much of your personal life should you post on your business Instagram account? People connect with people! This is KEY! That’s why you’re seeing more and more businesses morph their personal life with their business life in socials.... But, that doesn’t mean you should plaster your personal life all over your biz account. Your followers are still following you for your business! Here’s how you can decide how much you should share: 1 What are you comfortable with? You need to be comfortable with what you’re posting. If you’re forcing it, your audience will sense it as being inauthentic. So, start small and work your way up Remember, it’s still a biz account so don’t go crazy with the personal stuff! 2 The kind of brand your are. If you’re a personal brand, then you’re expected to show more. If you’re a company, you can post a little less of your personal life. 3 Ask yourself: ‘Are you OK if your current or future clients saw what you put up?’ It’s that fine line between professionalism and personalisation and you don’t want to put off your clients by what you’re posting. Do you feel like you have a good balance between business and personal on your Instagram? #thesocialista See more

07.01.2022 Your Instagram likes don’t determine your success!! Only you can do that!! How often do you feel a little deflated when your post doesn’t get the likes it should have.... You’ve put in the work, you’ve engaged but you check your insights and the likes and comments just aren’t really there. Even I’m guilty of this sometimes! It’s because we’ve been conditioned to validate our lives, better yet, our success, by those little numbers on our Instagram! It’s time to remove the value of your business to the likes on your Instagram post! Your likes don’t tell you: How many clients/customers you have How much money you’re making per month How many lives you’re changing with your product or service. Those That’s what matters most! It’s time to make a change!! Hands up if you agree!? See more

05.01.2022 Will swapping to a Creator Account change anything for my business Instagram?’ Short answer: No, it won’t drastically change anything about your business on Instagram. ... I’ve been getting A LOT of these questions since Reels launched last week because businesses want to get one the bandwagon but don’t have music option to play with. Here’s the low-down Creator accounts and business accounts are so similar! Creator accounts were created for influencers and content creators. They have the same features as a business account but with a few extra offerings like music. However, if you have a creator account, your location won’t show up in your bio and you won’t show up if someone wanted to tag you with the small business sticker. MY SUGGESTION: 1 Change your account to a creator account and wait for music to appear (be patient because this can take up to 4 days) 2 Once the music tab has appeared you can either stay as a Creator Account, or switch back to a Business Account and then music will stay on there. 3 If you don’t want to swap accounts but still want music, create your videos in the @inshot.app and upload them to Reels! 03.01.2022 How to GROW an engaged following using just 5 steps! Having an engaged audience doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a whole lot of love, nurturing and timmmmmmeee! Because, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was your Instagram community! ... 1 Give without expecting anything in return. Give out your best advice to leave people wanting more! Don’t be scared of other people copying you because at the end of the day, they can’t be you! 2 Answer all of your DM’s. Even if it takes you a day to reply, make sure you're giving them attention and strike up a conversation and get to know the person - that will build up trust. 3 After posting, spend 20 minutes engaging with your audience. Not only will this help you to engage with your audience, but it also means that when you start getting comments on your post, you’ll be there to reply ASAP and start that conversation. 4 Don’t treat your competitors as competition. Think of them as your colleagues and someone you can lean on & learn from. These people will not only be your sanity saviours but also your biggest cheerleaders! 5 Be a ray of positivity When you put yourself out there, you're bound to get envious people who try to put you down! Don't be one of those people who actively put others down or feed the machine of women shaming women (all of my @shamelesspodcast listeners - can I hear an AMEN!) Out of 5, how many of these steps are you already doing?? See more

02.01.2022 Can you believe it!? It’s been a whole year without likes on Instagram and here’s what happened In countries like Australia (where I’m from) we woke up one day and likes were GONE At first, we might have thought it was the worst thing in the world.... But really, it was the best thing to have happened! We stopped focussing on the amount of likes a post got and started focussing on building 1:1 relationships with people. Audiences felt more inclined to comment on posts rather than just like. It helped businesses and creators step outside their comfort zone and really get creative with their content! ( This is my favourite one! ) It removed competition between businesses, brands and personal accounts and allowed us to build up our pages in our own way! You may have seen a slight decline in likes or your likes might have become stagnant, but there benefits of this definitely outweigh the cons! What’s the one thing you love about not having likes?

02.01.2022 I was so terriffied to take time off of my business to go on my dream holiday that I almost didn't go! This time last year, I was holidaying in Europe and North Africa but it took me months to decide to actually bite the bullet and go! There were so many things holding me back. ... My business was 3 months old at the time + working part-time. 6+ social media management clients Big goals to continue growing my biz. I spoke to someone and they said, Monique, if you don't go now, when are you going to go? Your business is only going to get bigger!" He was right. So, I fought the fear and did it anyway. It was *so* possible to do! I started my business to be able to give me the freedom to live on my own terms. So, I met up with my clients, I batched like 300+ posts across Facebook and Instagram and I even had Anthony help me in the days leading up to leaving. Guess what? While I was away, my world didn't explode! Everything was planned and going out as scheduled, I had @thesocialscreaive handling my day to day work and I was able to work remotely from my phone! The lesson from this: Your mind is going to try and stop you and tell you all the reasons why you shouldn’t do something. You need to reframe that and think of all the ways you can make it possible. Have you ever felt a sense of fear when planning a holiday and owning a business at the same time? See more
