24.01.2022 Redefining what success means to you is the first step in finding a true balance between work and life. We were excited to share our journey to finding the balance and some of our top tips with Balance The Grind. Read the full interview below.

23.01.2022 When you look for pictures of people at work, what do you see? Most stock sites still hold up narratives that white men are the generic result for people working. And well, thats just not accurate. Changing the narratives for marginalised groups is going to take an overhaul or the language we use and the images we see. But even the small changes can start to shift the culture so that were seeing greater and more accurate representation. These are five stock photo site...s that are taking active steps to champion diversity - from highlighting people in colour to showing more realistic narratives. Next time youre looking for content, question the images youre using to represent ideas and look towards these sites to help tell your story. See more

21.01.2022 After a breakup, some people put Adele on repeat and eat ice cream in bed. Some people decide to commit to the glow-up, change their hair, get the revenge body. We decided to turn it into a lesson on how we could all be using our social media better. I guess this is what they mean when they say every relationship teaches you something: https://thesocialstory.co/2020/08/21/ex-whos-watching/

20.01.2022 We all hope that the expressions of solidarity and kindness we have seen in this quarantine can continue past it. And we hope that this positivity can continue to sprinkle through social media, and turn it into what it was meant to be. Curious to know more? Heres why we believe the pandemic can save social media: https://buff.ly/2wC6BLv

19.01.2022 The biggest change from moving into a remote work lifestyle was shifting our thinking from pursuing a career to pursuing a purpose. Traditionally, were looking for what the economy is looking like and the opportunities to offer our skills towards it. But if we learned anything this year, things are not as straightforward as it seems. The clean-cut pathway of a conventional career is not as stable as we once thought. So what does the unconventional path look like?... Well, it puts what the world needs first. Identifying the human needs of the world and not just the economic ones means were solving the problems of the future. Whether its about preserving our environment or creating more just and equal systems to benefit everyone, an impact-focused direction can keep driving us forward, even when the economy may crumble the institutions around us. 19.01.2022 How are you injecting mindfulness into your day-to-day? These are some of the ways were taking care of our mind during these anxious times.

18.01.2022 Over on our Instagram (@thesocialstoryco), were sharing some of our favourite social enterprises and innovative businesses. Got one we should know about? Tell us in the comments below. ***... Today, we wanted to focus on The Bandana Love Project that creates awesome accessories for dogs (and their humans) that give back! Seeing these bandanas on the dogs around Bali is a beautiful symbol that these dogs are loved and taken care of - many by the Project themselves that organise vaccinations and sterilisations for the many street dogs there. And the prints are just so cute, I couldnt resist getting a few for my pup and for myself.

17.01.2022 When even the CEO of Apple tells you to put down your phone, it might be time for a break. Its important to remember the power of switching off. Our favourite tips: - Park your phone at coffee or meals, especially with other people... - Take just five minutes to enjoy a view before getting out your phone for a snap - Embrace the chance to wander around without a map for half an hour - Set up screen time notifications on your phone to keep a track of how much youre using it How do you digitally detox? 16.01.2022 The events over the last few days have magnified a lot of the things we stand for as a business. Our mission, by and large, is to help amplify the stories that were often unheard. We hold onto the optimism that social can be a place for these stories to be heard and from there, empathy and tolerance could grow. And we want to empower each individual - not just the brands we work with - to realise that their actions could elicit this change. So what does that mean for us - and... for you? 1. Weve donated through ActBlue (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/bail_funds_george_floyd) that distributes to a number of bail funds across America; as well as Human Rights Law Centre to address our issues in Aus. We encourage you to do so if you can. 2. We will use our platforms to amplify minority voices and organisations that you should follow to diversify your content intake. (See: instagram.com/thesocialstoryco) 3. We commit to listening and learning more about the issues beyond our understanding. Recommendations will also be shared through IG. 4. We will continue to spread positivity and kindness through our content because it is through each individuals commitment to do so, our feeds and our society can become a better place.

10.01.2022 Weve had to be more reliant but more inventive in how social media can supplant the daily routines of work and social life performed offline. But it might just help us use social media in the way it was intended: https://buff.ly/2wC6BLv

04.01.2022 Telling your own story can not only empower yourself but others who may be inspired by it. A fantastic reminder of the power of storytelling from Syra Adinda during a StoryTelling event hosted by Dojo Bali this month.

03.01.2022 Influencers have been starved for content opportunities in the global lockdown. But maybe thats not a bad thing. Its finally making them phase the age-old question of what value they are bringing without the brand ambassadorships. This article was written for the Dojo Bali blog over a year ago, but the message still stands. Build a brand, not an influence and you can outlast any changes, even a pandemic. https://blog.dojobali.org/b/build-a-brand-not-an-influence/

02.01.2022 Were jumping onboard #SupportSmallSeptember - a fantastic initiative from The Small Business Community to celebrate and promote small businesses. Aussie small businesses have done it tough this month. Theyve seen unprecedented setbacks from bushfires, droughts, the pandemic and thus a downturn in tourism. Shopping local and shopping small isnt just a chance to help them out during this time - but opens up the door for amazing businesses doing things different. Weve se...en businesses that are giving back, promoting sustainability and powered by diverse and inspiring people. This month - and beyond - we want to keep showcasing amazing businesses were inspired by, starting with these accounts that are curating some of the best around Australia. 01.01.2022 Were all doing it tough right now - local businesses especially. Here are some of the ways you can help them out right now.

01.01.2022 Over this weekend, weve been so inspired to be a part of the Thriving Nomads Summit. As the remote work world gains momentum, we look to what that means for new business models and ideas of work. In leaving the corporate world, I was no longer tied to the traditional ideas of success by constantly working towards a pay rise or promotion. Instead, I focused on going within, finding our purpose and instead, realising that success really amounted to the impact we could ...leave in the world. Creating The Social Story Co and collaborating with Nomads Giving Back has been such a blessing. Its combined all the passions of my life - social media, travel and social justice. The Thriving Nomads Summit has reinvigorated the reasons why we continue to pursue our mission and look not to how much money we can make - but rather the difference we can make. Weve learned so much from other changemakers in the space. So tell us, what does success mean to you and how are you striving towards it? See more
