12.01.2022 You may have already seen our next two programs for this and next month, featuring our Principal Artist Roberta Diamond. To give you a little behind the scenes: we have had sleepless nights here at The Song Company headquarters because Robbie lives in Basel/Switzerland and to get her here was.... let’s say difficult. It was only possible through a generous donation of one of our wonderful supporters that we could get her on a Business Class flight to make it juuuuuust in... time (first concerts are , , in Canberra and Wollongong on the 23 & 24 October. Roberta is currently in quarantine in Perth. And as if we havent give her enough music to learn, she has decided to put her time to use and learn basic Persian to fundraise money for Asylum seekers . What beautiful people we have in our ensemble Please go ahead and support Roberta in her cause. And check out both our upcoming programs , , & with concerts in Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong, and Newcastle. See our events section for details and tickets. 05.01.2022 Due to the challenges performing arts companies are still facing due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will launch our 2021 series INTO THE HEART in stages. First concert dates and venues will be announced on 27 January. Songs from the Heart Artistic Director Antony Pitts' first season back in 2016 was called Into Something..., which was a fragment of a quote from Shakespeare’s The Tempest where one who has been ship-wrecked on a foreign shore undergoes a sea-change into somethin...g rich and strange. Five years later, as The Song Company embarks on another chapter steering Australia’s national vocal ensemble through uncertain waters, we are heading Into the Heart. In 2021 our season culminates in October/November with a special MAINSTAGE project for seven singers working together with Elizabeth Sheppard and Sonya Holowell, Indigenous composers who are both also singers. We will be telling you more about this project across next year, but suffice it to say for now that it’s directly inspired by the principles underlying the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

04.01.2022 Our General Manager and Associate Artistic Director Francis Greep was in the recording booth when Amy Moore - Soprano and Antony Pitts recorded their ’ program today. He said: Harawi is definitely one of the most complex pieces for voices and piano that I have encountered. It continually throws out musical and technical challenges to both singer and pianist. Sitting in the sound booth again today, I marvelled at how both Amy and Antony make this virtuosic work sound both singable and playable! They produced beautiful phrases, long lyrical lines and extraordinary colours throughout. A privilege to observe the recording process up close.
