25.01.2022 With Patty Bom from CQUniversity Australia (aka beatmaster from Ironing Maidens) trying out our awesome MIDI Sprout in the Gondwana Evolution Gardens. With a Sprout you can hear the trees sing - it literally gives them a voice we can hear. Thank you to all the pioneers who developed this technology - so incredibly special.

17.01.2022 A deep listening session in Cairns Botanic Gardens with creative arts students from CQU reveals a hypnotic song... "When we tune in, deeply, we can hear the vibration of the trees. I've conducted this experiment with around 600 people now and often people doubt they'll be able to do it, but with a little focus, we can hear it. We hear the vibrational resonance of the tree within ourselves, and sing it aloud - which is kind of a wondrous thing to do - and when there's a group of people, it sounds amazing. That's the first part of the process." -Natalia Mann

09.01.2022 One of the ways we have been connecting with the trees is by using MIDI Sprout, which interprets biodata into musical tones. This is powerful because it literally gives the tree a voice, and some trees really go to town with it. We sit back and listen, sometimes for hours because it's just so good.

08.01.2022 Releasing into the strangest of times the music of the Trees, as found in the experimental project The Sonic Earth. The trees do talk, feel and connect, and they’ve shared with us this music. A gentle reminder that our industrialised societies have blinkered us from seeing the intelligent magic of the living earth, our birthright. I hope these vibrations may bring you solace.

08.01.2022 From little things big things grow... Less than a week to go and the excitement is building. The Cairns Botanic Gardens and the Tanks are a dream setting for The Sonic Earth's inauguration. Home to some of it's star composers, with an epic venue in Tank 3 to showcase their new works plus a dream team making it happen. We are blessed!

05.01.2022 Looking forward to our second Resonance Art Ensemble rehearsal. All new compositions premiering at Tanks Arts Centre on the 8th of November. Some words from our creative director on the process of learning songs form the Trees: "We're learning about the characters of the plants, their emotional states, their health. The Paperbarks are a soft and loving family, Palms are fabulous musicians, and saplings giggle as children do." ... -Natalia Mann

03.01.2022 Lore in many cultures tell us of the wisdom of the Trees, of sacred relationships and conversations with trees. Those days may seem like a lost myth, but it wasn't so long ago. What have we forgotten? If it was true then, could it be true now? Can we still hear the trees if we try? The Sonic Earth is a project exploring conversations between humans and trees, in the languages of music and dance. The Trees of the Cairns Botanic Gardens have been major collaborators and we've found that they have a lot to say! #treemusic #plantmusic #nataliamann #tanksartscentre
