23.01.2022 I've got a little favour to ask you all. This week, when you're fitting in some last minute shopping, or stocking up for the big day - think of the person acros...s the counter. Think of the the checkout staff packing your bags, or the retail assistant helping pick a present. Think about all they've dealt with this year - and everything they've done to help pull our state through it too. Think about going from shelf stocker to essential worker literally overnight - making sure people got what they needed, every single day. And think about where we'd be if it wasn't for them, and all the work they've done for us. It's been said a million times - and it'll be said a million times again: but these workers are great Victorians. They deserve our respect, and they're owed our appreciation. So please - be kind, be patient. And if you can - say thanks. Because it's the very least we can do.

20.01.2022 Remembering inventor Leo Fender the founder of Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company, who was born Clarence Leonidas Fender on this date August 10, ...1909 in Anaheim, CA. In January 1965, he sold the company to CBS and later founded two other musical instrument companies, Music Man and G&L Musical Instruments. The guitars, bass guitars, and amplifiers he designed from the 1940s on are still widely used: the Fender Telecaster (1950) was the first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar; the Fender Stratocaster (1954) is among the world's most iconic electric guitars; the Fender Precision Bass (1951) set the standard for electric bass guitars, and the Fender Bassman amplifier, popular enough in its own right, became the basis for later amplifiers (notably by Marshall and Mesa Boogie) that dominated rock and roll music. Leo Fender was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992: a unique achievement given that he never learned to play the instruments that he made a career of making. Although he never played guitar himself, his instruments were played by many other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Fender guitars, basses, and amps helped define the "California Sound" in the late 50s and early 60s. They were also used by many members of The Wrecking Crew on countless recordings over the years. Fender passed away March 21, 1991 at the age of 81.
